Kulim congee shop in Farlim, Penang

It was a new congee and noodle shop  just oppersite the Shell Station near to Bandar Baru Air Itam Supermarket. It is a branch out a  famous  outlet in Kulim and they are starting a chain ship in Penang.  I have never heard about their name but they claimed to be famous and they stick their newspaper cuttings about their outlet on the wall.

The renovation was simple with wooden benches and tables and a pink coloring on the wall. Their kitchen is an open space with veyr simple pots and containers for the soup. They serve seafood noodles, congee and koay teow.  Their style is no difference from the famous " Teow Chew Meng" restaurant.  Their recipe is expensive fish,  crabs , prawns and fish balls and you can have limited choice on the menu. The idea is to serve it fast and hot.

The food at the outlet is rather expensive but the taste is very good and fresh. The shop have been open for a few days and the crowd is sizeable and  the collections is very good. Hopefully, it will not go the way of "Teow Chew Meng " which started off very well but  the taste gradually  deteriorates and remained  pricey.

For me, it is another choice of food and I wish them the best. From the set up, they have gambled it well . Low investment and fast return and if it is not
sustainable, then they will pack and go. hThis arrangement have been the modus operandi of many food outlets in Penang and across the country.

Namaste.
