A lost AirAsia QZ8501 flight

A lost flight -AirAsia QZ8501

It is indeed a sad day when AirAsia's plane was discovered at the bottom of the ocean  carrying all its passengers to their death. The plane have been missing for two days despite in the GPS era where the flight is been tracked by radar. Anyway , it is better than MH370 which have been lost for months. At least , there is a closure for AirAsia QZ8501 flight from Surabaya.

I remembered I have travel this route via MH flight and most of time is above the sea.

When the plane hit the turbulence , there is no play to land. The report showed that the plane could have stalled and the pilot make an emergency landing and it must have flip over because of the lack of power.
In this way, I'd it is successful, it could have saved some life.  However , it was not mend to be.

This is the third plane ,Malaysian aviation company have lost in this year and these happenings have caused a lot of anxiety and jittery. It will take a long time for people to forget these incidents.

To the deceased in this flight ,may your soul  rest in peace  and may this incident help to prevent a similar incident In the future.

10 things you must know before starting a cafe (ext)

10 things you must know b4 starting a cafe:

#1 THE OWNER HAS TO BE HANDS ON

Clearing tables. Checked. Washing dirty plates and cups. Checked. Serving tables. Checked. Dealing with difficult customers. Checked. Getting your hands full in the kitchen. Checked. Working a full 12-hour shift and on weekends. Checked.

Unless you are hiring someone to run the operations, you have to be responsible for everything in the cafe. Not only do you have to set an example for your staff, you have to present to make sure that everything is running smoothly and to troubleshoot immediately.

#2 A MOUNTAIN OF PAPERWORK AND ADMIN STUFF

From settling the payroll, to rostering the work schedule for your staff, to filing the accounts for the cafe, there are a lot of paperwork that you have to do. These are the boring back-end stuff that you do not see.

3 YOU HAVE TO DO ENOUGH RESEARCH ABOUT WHAT YOU WANT TO SELL

These days, consumers are very discerning and savvy; they know exactly what they want. In short, you can’t expect to serve mediocre food and drinks and get away with it.

Recipes don’t just appear out of nowhere. They are only possible with many trials in the kitchen. One of the common misconceptions about opening a cafe is that most people think it is more important to focus only on the design and interior.
4 DEALING WITH SUPPLIERS WILL BE YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE

Your supplies don’t just appear magically. Dealing with suppliers is a skill on its own. Sometimes, suppliers will leave you hanging by not showing up, and that is when you have to think on your feet and figure out how to react.

You risk incurring the wrath of your customers when you do not have enough ingredients, you risk bearing the increased food cost due to the shortage of ingredients, and all these will eat into your (already very thin) profit margin.

#5 YOU HAVE TO BE AT THE CAFE EVERY DAY

Running a cafe is not easy. Period. You have to be at the cafe every day and you will be working so hard that you would question yourself about the heavy commitment and if it would be all worth it.

  #6 YOU WON’T HAVE MUCH FREE TIME FOR YOURSELF. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR SELF DEVELOPMENT

Because you are working at the cafe practically every day, you don’t have much free time for yourself or your loved ones. That means no afternoon tea dates with your friends, no vacations, no free time for anything. When you have a rare day off, chances are you will be repaying your sleep debts. Or preparing for the next day of operations.

#7 IT IS DIFFICULT – OR ALMOST MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – TO HIRE GOOD STAFF

Being a chef or a server is not exactly glamourous. Neither does it pay well. Very few people want to work in the food & beverage industry and one of the main challenges of opening a cafe is always finding good staff.

Naturally, people come and go, and it is difficult to find – much less, retain – good staff. Most part-timers are not committed, so you can suddenly find yourself in a situation whereby they disappear at the eleventh hour and not turn up at all.

When you can’t find enough staff, you have to end up doing even more things on your own. And your customers won’t care if you are short-handed. They are only concerned if they can get their food promptly.

#8 MOTIVATING YOUR STAFF – EASIER SAID THAN DONE

Equally challenging is the task of motivating your staff. So you think you are the boss and the staff have to listen to everything you say, right? Not exactly. When your staff are unhappy or feeling demoralised, it is your job to motivate them and make them continue to fight along with you. Maintaining staff morale is easier said than done.

Read: 5 Things you never knew about working at a cafe.

#9 DEALING WITH DIFFICULT CUSTOMERS IS PART AND PARCEL OF LIFE IN A CAFE

As with other businesses, dealing with difficult customers is inevitable. The customers may not always be right, but they sure as hell will make things difficult for you.

#10 YOU WILL BE CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT MANY THINGS

Every moment, the owner of the cafe is worrying about something. Be it operations, staff rostering, dealing with suppliers, updating the various social media platforms, testing new recipes in the kitchen, maintaing staff morale, interviewing new staff, paying the bills – there are things that you have to constantly think about and your mind never really gets to rest.

The Air disasters - AIr Asia & MAS

The air disaster -Air Asia

What a stupid luck? Three air disaster in one year for Malaysia. There must be some thing which bring us this ass luck.

Could it be the Ghost of Attantuyah , whose death remain unsolved and there are so many unanswered questions. There must be a cover up to protect some big wigs. It is better to clear  this case and sent her spirit to be on the way.

What about Teoh Beng Huat ? His mysterious death and so many questionable details and the culprit is not even punished.

DS Anwar sodomy case. How this man's name and life have been abused time and again for the sake of politics .
He is like a fighter who have been hit under belt several times. Let him go and see whether he can make it again in politics.

In addition to the air disaster , there is massive flood in so many states. These disasters is like taking revenge for all the misdeeds. The striking forces is coming back so forcefully.

Let the event come clear and let the negative forces subside and become normal.

Three nights in Bangkok, Thailand (part 2)

 Bangkok trip

The third day start at 9 am and I travel to Chatkuchat, a big shopping village in Bangkok. It was a Saturday and the traffic was light and it took about 30 mins。I took a bowl of white noodles at the village。

There must be hundreds of shops selling all sort of things including local ,Thai food stuff ,,dried or wet ,garments ,furnitures,leather products . Antques, etc。The  village is attached to several malls and you can walk for hours if you want,

Next ,,we moved on to central world after 3 hours at the village。it was a complete world and it is an upper class shopping 。,it was a lot of window shopping and we walk for three hours and break for an hour of massage。The break was a wonderful rest。

Next,I went for an early dinner at the river side. The food was a local Thai seafood with a fried Thai pork leg. There was a two piece band playing English numbers from Rod Steward and Eagles。The food was quite good and not too expensive.

After food and whole day of working ,I have to retire early for the day and prepare myself for the trip home。

The trip was good but I missed the chance to travel down Mekong river and the excellent japanese buffet in ,Bangkok。

Next time , perhaps.

10 tricks to break stress -extract

Excessive stress levels can easily undermine your happiness and thwart your efforts to achieve your goals. If you are feeling stressed right now, take a moment to read this short article that explains 10 ways to eradicate stress and induce a calmer state of mind.

1) Practice Breathing Exercises

Mindfulness exercises is as simple as closing your eyes and focusing on your breathing. By letting any thoughts drift away and constantly bringing your attention back to the feeling of air moving in and out of your lungs, you increase your awareness of the present. Even basic mindfulness exercises are proven to enhance your brain’s ability to deal with stress.

2) Paint Your Feelings

Find some materials you like, and try to purge your negative feelings by representing them on paper or canvas. You may also find it uplifting to paint a representation of the state you want to be in, creating a picture that represents calmness, love or general positivity.

3) Create A Safe And Happy Place In Your Mind

Once you are in a calm, focused state, imagine a place that makes you feel happy and at peace. You might choose a beautiful beach with the waves lapping at the shore, or picture yourself at the top of a hill. Conjure every detail of this perfect place, and return there in your mind any time your stress levels are spiraling out of control.

4) Book A Massage

A thorough, deep massage will leave you feeling revitalized and more capable of tackling life’s challenges. In addition, booking a massage allows you to take quiet time for yourself, reaffirming that your needs matter.

5) Be Uplifted By Music

Listen to your favorite band, find a playlist or compilation of mellow instrumental music, or practice playing an instrument yourself. Music lifts the spirits, and the right sounds can have a dramatic influence on your mood.

6) Relax From Head To Toe

Close your eyes in a quiet room, and start by consciously letting go of any tightness in your feet. Gradually work your way up to your head, feeling your limbs become loose and heavy.
A physically relaxed body promotes mental tranquility and restful sleep.

7) Exercise In Nature

Whether you’d prefer to run or walk, exercising outdoors helps you to appreciate life’s simple pleasures. Consider taking a favorite companion (whether human or canine) to enhance the experience.

8) Destroy Stress

Write each of your current worries and stresses onto a piece of paper, and then tear the paper into tiny pieces. Alternatively, enter a meditative state and picture yourself destroying representations of all of your stresses.

9) Try Gardening

Tending to plants can calm your racing thoughts and help to connect you with the world around you. As a bonus, growing herbs will make home cooking more enjoyable – and tasty too!

10) Repeat Positive Mantras

When you feel your stress levels rising, train yourself to repeat certain key phrases. Empowering mantras that might work for you include everything from the simple “This too shall pass” to more specific affirmations like “I am letting go off stress, and I am moving towards happiness and success.”

Three nights in Bangkok, Thailand ( part 1)

Three nights in Bangkok

I am on holiday in Bangkok, Thailand.

The first night in the Christmas , I was in asiatic village near the Mekong river. It was an entertainment village with lots of food stalls and shopping outlets. I was supposed to watch the Pom show but I had to cancel due shortage of time. I had a sea food dinner and a lot of shoppings. My legs were killing me.

The next day which is today, I went to the floating market and spend one hour on a motor boat going through a shopping center on boats . It was nice and enjoying buying food and fruits in the boat. However , the river water quite dirty. After that we travel another hour to worship a 4 face Buddha , offering flowers and incense . Later, we had a  lunch and I continue to shop at Siam centre for one hour and later went back to the hotel and took a rest. At 7.30m , I eat dinner at their chinese seafood restaurant and continue to shop at the night market  and I close the day with a keg massagr.

These two days have been tough  with lots of walking  but it was enjoyable.

Tomorrow , I will go to Chaktucak and more shoppings.

Merry Xmas.

Today is Christmas eve .  A holy night . please have inner peace and experience the joy on earth. What is life after all?  It is peace to you and not "piss on you". There are so much stress in our job and life  and we better be aware of it and shake it off as fast as possible.

If we try , we can see good in everything  and not just bad in a lot of things. It is only the mind and the body. The mind is clear , the body feels good or the body feels good , the mind is calm  and managable.

It is also what we want to see. We can turn away from the bad sight and see on the good side and we can stop going against the traffic and move with the traffic. It is so stupid to go against the traffic. Why we need to do that ? What is life after all ?

It is always our pride and ego.  Our ego makes our pride strong and in turn it make our ego tall.  I notice that if we do some manual jobs like cleaning the shits of our dog or cleaning our rice bowl after eating, our ego will get smaller and we will be less angrier.

Well, it is time to re-look at ourself , stop a while and think about what is our weakness or what is life after all during this holy eve night.

Everybody is packed off with a holiday mood as all the activities is slowing down.  I will have to stop and re-thing or refocus my direction to be on a happier journey.

To all my readers : A happy christmas and a happy new year.  I have been singing that for years.

Coffee joints in Penang - the coffee island.

From the response to my blog, I have notice there is surge on the hits relating to coffee joints. It is interesting as there are so many such coffee joints in Penang and I think it is close to a hundred.  Many of the pre-houses have also been converted into coffee joints and offer comfortable furnitures and sitting arrangements.

If we were to walk around Chulia street and its adjouning lanes, we will not only have good local food but also nicely decorated coffee joints.  It is amazing to notice how coffee joints have in numbers in Penang and the habit of drinking coffee have also have increased.

It has become a hype and a place to rest , relax and chat with friends. Such concept have promote integration among the youth and old.  Some of them is using these cafe as their mobile office. Why not ? No need to rent an office and can use free WiFi..

I notice such trend in all the Starbuck joints and now it has spread to all the coffee joints. It has become a luxury for the locals and visitors to have a variety of choice.

My favorite list of cafes are :

1) Coffe element - in Farlim and Gurney Pragon.
2) Coffee addict  -  Bishop street, Penang.
3) Coffee chemistry - at Nagore place.
4) Kaffa Coffee - Green hall and at the Penang airport
5) Secawan - Hutton Lane
6) Monkey Cup - at Irrawaddy road
7) Coffee journey - Island Plaza
8) Barista - Penang Time Square
9) Noor & Dean  - Noordin Street,
10)Bebee - Kalwei Road.

Another interesting fact is these coffee joints are replace the old chinese coffee shops where the customers will hit for hours over a cup of coffee. The landscape have been changing very fast.

If is a journey through the coffee island  - Penang.

Tasteless food

Tasteless food

I have been simple with my food and if is salty or sweet, I would treat it as an average and it is a matter of preference. Today,  I had a bad experience in a tasteless food.

This morning, I was looking a place for breakfast and I stumble into a Bak kut Teh joint along Gurney Drive. The place was presentable and look nice and decent, so I decide to try it out。 I ordered a small Bak kut Teh and a big plate of  white noodle or sar hor fun . The Bak kut was okay but the sar hor fun was tasteless despite I add a lot of black source.  It was totally flat and I feel like a bowl or mass carbo forced inside my mouth.
After eating, I was cursing away and try to get out of the restaurant as soon as possible,

I told myself that the day of the restaurant is numbered and it is a matter of time it will closed down, For food business , the location and the food taste is the paramount factor for good business,

Bad food is a waste of resources , blessed these people which have no passion to serve good foods.

Kaffa , penangz

Coffee at Kaffa Cafe, Penang

Yesaterday, I took my sisters to Kaffa for a cup of coffee at green hall in Penang, it was Oppersite the Penang Mural Art Museum and next to the famous Karpal Singh legal office and the famous Hwang DBS. It is a famous stretch of road in Penang and it is a walking distance from the seaside.

The coffee was one of the best so far and the cheese bread was excellent. It was soft and nice. Their barista was an expensive one and of quality standard。 However, the design was a bit simple and old. This is the style of most Kaffa design caffee.

Next to the ,Kaffa , it is a Cafe 62 . Another simple cafe serving coffee and snack。 lately such simple joints have mushroomed on Penang island。 Penang has become an island for coffee apart its medical tourism.

The potluck yogi dinner

Last night, we finished our yoga sessions earlier to celebrate the coming christmas. There were about 14 participants and each of us have to bring one dish to join the dinner celebration.

My wife and me brought along chicken wings and nyonya cakes and we were slightly late for the session but it ended well.  When  we started to lay the food on the table , we have so much variety of food. We have  sandwich, vegetable pasta, bakchang , sausage , cakes, tarts, ice creams  floats,  spanish pasta , wine and muraku apart from the chicken wings and nyonya cakes.

The mood was wonderful with the christmas songs playing in the back ground and the christmas spirit near the corner.  We start to get to know each other more and have a funny time eating and chatting.

The spirit of compassion and understanding was great and vast.  Thank you for the togetherness and wonderful experience.

A difficult life

A difficult life

How life can mould you into what you are? Our early educations, our parents love and care, the relationship between brother and sisters and the daily interactions between the people around us are layers and layers of events that mould us what we are today.

If we are surrounded by love and a good life understanding we can be a loving and caring person.
If our family is surrounded with argument and conflicts , we will be harden and become aggressive and defensive.

When we mixed with others , we can be trusting and have good relationship with others. On the other hand we can be defensive and not trusting others.

Each profile has a place in an organization. Those in the first category  have good  team work in operations and management while the second category is in specialist jobs where they can be aggressive and stubborn in their persuance of excellence.

Everyone have a specific task and if this is arranged well , we can have a great team.

Emotions - my internal enemy

Emotions - our internal demon.

Emotions are internal feelings and most of the time, they control how we feel and re-act to a decision , comments and action. In simple words, we are the slave to our emotions.

If we are weak, sick or troubled by daily chorus and problems, our emotions gets strong because we lost the control over our emotions. We tend to make a problem bigger, a stronger re-action to a negative comments and  In a confrontational move. We will often do not listen and we tend to fight back.

However, when we calm down we realized that what happen or said is not our doing. If only we sober down ,then what we say or do could be different. It will be a better ending as what we want.

Being aware if this existence , it will make us more controllable and more composure.  The real control point of our emotions is our mind. A monkey mind make us behave like monkeys. If we are able to train and take our mind , we would be more of our real self. We can trained our mind through more knowledge of ourself and the working of our mind.

Aji- noren, Penang

AJi-noren, a Japanese restaurant   Penang

I have been traveling lately and  I got a break yesterday . I took my family for a Japanese dinner at Aji-noren.in Tanjung Tokong.

The restaurant have been there for 17 years already and I have not heard about it. It is a small place and it operate like any home cooked Japanese place. The setting is in an old traditional style with a mix of traditional and table sitting arrangement.  It is place you can go and eat a simple food and get out after that.

The authentic Japanese food Ike sushi, maki and some traditional Japanese dishes. The taste is good and the price is reasonable.

I think it is one of the affordable place for Japanese food at an average of RM50 per head includng two Sapporo beer. Without the beer , it will be RM40.

If you are staying in Penang or pass-by , pls try and enjoy it. If you have a question of wanting to know where I am? I am on my way to Bangladesh again.

Why are we so personal ?

Can we love all human beings with a compassionate heart ? Do we need to compete with each other or judge each other and behave like we are right all the time ? Can we sit back and analyse ourself and tell ourself that we are wrong.   It has always been that " WE CAN DO NO WRONG"  and sorry is the hardest word.

What is wrong with us ? think hard . It is our ego who has taken over us. We cannot be criticize , we cannot be scolded, we cannot be shame by others,  Yes, like I say earlier, WE CAN DO NO WRONG.

With this egoistic mentality , we will hit the brick wall many times until we wake up and tell that ourself that we are not perfect. If we realized that we are not perfect , then we can accept the imperfection in others.  I have said before that in a Chinese wisdom " one type of rice can feed a hundred or more type of human beings".  This is a wisdom which comes down through thousands of years in China. Yet, we cannot understand it thoroughly.

It is often very difficult to tell a person that she or he is wrong . They cannot listen or understand and accept it. The first thing is that we will response with the question " why are we wrong?".  We have the instinct to protect ourself at the first instance. In our mind, attack is the best way of defence. When there is an action , there is a spontaneous reaction. We hit back before thinking deeply ?  We attack as a way of defence. This is a very normal human reaction.

If we slow down and listen and then reflect on the situation, we could be wrong . We should have the courage to admit that we are wrong adn apologize. But, sorry is the hardest word and most of the time, we soften our stand and walk away if we found out that we are wrong. This is to save our embarrassment.

We become cowards when we find out that we are wrong . This is a form of self protection but the correct way is to stand up and say that we are wrong and we apologize. This is the courage to admit that we are not perfect. What is wrong of being not perfect ? Shame ? scolding ? self defence.

All these re-actions cannot open you to a better person.  We should break our ego and shame ourself. We should correct our weakness if we do wrong. Nothing to be ashame and don't just offer exercise our counter arguements. We look stupid and dumb. Face up and stand up to see it through and understand that it is our mind which need to be trained and explore.

Corret your mind and everything will be alright.

Coffee Addict Cafe, Bishop Street, Penang.

coffee Addict cafe ,bishop street ,Penang

I took my sister and daughter to Coffee Addict this evening for our tea break before dinner . I was a nicely done cafe and it offers a wide range of coffee and breads and cakes , etc.

I heard from my friend that the coffee was good and I have been wanting to go there many times. Finally , I tried and the flat white was good . My daughter order a coffee smoothie and my sister an ice lemon tea. She also ordered a Tiramitsu . The cake also tasted good.

It is recommendable for readers who like a good cup of coffee to try it out. However, one man"a meat is another man"a poison. But, I am quite sure it is a good coffee joint.

Mum, I dedicate this song to you

You raise me up - Josh Groban

When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up to more than I can be.

When I am down and, oh, my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up to more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas;

Change - the cry

After the meeting today, one of my staff told me to change.  Change what ? I query her and she told me that change is always for the better. Everything we see not right , we should change.

It is easy to cry change but we should also be part of the change if we evocate change. If keep crying change and remained in our old form, we will be killed by the change or we will be changed by the changes evolving around us.

To simplify a change. lets take our life style for example. we are supposedly need to discipline our diet and keep ourself happy but we continue to eat the food which is bad for us. We should change and refrained from the bad food. Yet, we tell ourself that we will change from tomorrow and it never happen.  Why are we so weak to change ourselves.

We waiver in our effort and we promised changes. It is so ironical. If you analyse further , you could see that we need a lot of effort and discipline to change. We always fall back to our routine which is our comfort zone. To break out from this comfort zone, it is difficult but we should try.

If we come out of our comfort zone, we feel irritate and uncomfortable and we have to bear the unpleasantness to move forward. If we go back to our comfort zone, we will never come out again.
The determination to change or to break away from the routine must be very strong and firm. Otherwise, we will become the NATO President , No action , Talk Only.

Aviod thinking too long and flip flop, sometimes is that we do it spontaneously , Just do it.

Control our anger

When we are angry, we should not talk or do anything.  Just keep silence and break from eye contacts. If possible, just move away from the spot and slow down your breath.  Let the mind clear and slow down your breath and close your eyes.  Feel the strong  pressure in our heart and our paluse.

To let go off the pressure, go for a movie or listen to your favorite song. Take a step backward and relax . Keep the angy subject from your mind and from your focus.  Keep it out as long as possible.

If you are still at the hot spot, change the subject. Keep away your eye contact with the object that you are angry with. Just move your focus to be inside you. Accept the imperfection of people and keep getting your focus to go inward. Concentrate on something.

If the abuse or the anger of another people is on you and he or she is not letting you go, just keep silent and keep your ego under control. Everything will pass with time.  It will.

Focus on the good things on the people who is shouting at you  and be aware that they are also feeling bad and is also hurting badly inside. The louder they shout at you , the more important is you to them. let it go if you are able to control your ego self.

Remember that once the bad moment is passed , the weather will be clear.

The old house , a local restuarant in Penang

Yesterday was my brother in law's birthday  and he invited me and my family to this restaurant in Penang called " The old house".  It is actually a row of old pre-war houses which is converted into his retail outlets for statutes of chinese dieties and prayer materials and a section of retail houses is a restaurant which is called " the old house".

The owner is a Dato and he is also the chef for the restuarant . He offered several packages ie RM15 per set, RM65 per set and RM120 per set and each package comprises of different priority. Of course, the RM120 per set is the best food of all which includes abalone , sharkfin ,etc.

When we eat there, it is like eating your lunch and dinner in a different environment. For the Chinese , it is like eating with all the Chinese dieties and in heaven. There is a saying in Chinese  " the world with saints and buddhas" and it is heavenly like.

The taste is very good and the spread is thick and plentiful.  For the price , it is value for money.

It is recommendable for tourist and locals to have this wonderful experience to eat with the dieties and buddhas.

Inside looking out

Most of the times it is not what it seems to be if we look from outside in. Yes, we judge from the face of the book and form our own conclusions. If the book cover looks good , we will take a second look and perhaps buy it. Then after opening the book to read ,we find that it is not what it project to be. We don't like the contents or the subject or the style of writing.

Perhaps we return the book and asked for another or chuck the book away.

We have to be in the event or incident to know the real truth but yet there are some perspective which we do not fully understand or we decide the truth itself even without knowing enough of the happenings.

If we see two married person in a pub , we think that they are having an affair but it is actually relate to business or work or both person are just good friends. We often jump to conclusion and think lowly of such encounters. We make up something before we know the truth.

Strangely , this is the behaviour of human creatures. The only people who can think and decide for themselves. We have two eyes but we choose to see with one eye, we have two years yet we choose to hear from one side , we have one mouth but we choose to twist and turn and making our own story.

This is really a wonderful world and a make belief world. We create our own imaginations and choose our own way of thinking.  Our six senses influence our mind . The sense of sight, taste, hearing, looking , smelling and eating. Unless , we control all the six senses , our mind will be behaving like a yo-yo , swing here and there.

It is a wonder that life is so colorful because of lies, falsehood and make believes.

See and don't believe your sight, hear and wonder whether it is true ,touch and check whether it is real.  Are you real ?

What is life ?

I met a Japanese friend on Saturday which I have not seen for the past 25 years and he came around with his family to bid me farewell.  His son and daughter have grown up since leaving Penang 25 years ago.  He told me time flies.

I had tried to meet him two years ago and it was screwed by some mismanagement of his schedule by his staff and that was disappointing. Well, life goes on without perfections.

He has gone old with less hair but he still maintain his youthful look somehow.  He told me that since retirement, everyday is sunday. He can take his time to wake up and he goes to the gym everyday.

I gave him two books written by Robin Sharma as he likes to read books during his working days but he told me that he had stopped reading small letter books due to his fading eye sight.  Yeah, this is normal as we grow old. Our eye sight and our hearing is fading very day.

Well, he talk about his time in Penang and he showed me some photographs taken with me and my wife.  His family knows my wife well as they have taken care of her when she travel to Japan many years ago.

He invited me and my wife to visit Japan if we have time and he will take care of us.  For this offer, I am sure that he is sincere because he has been taking care of me when I was in Japan.

Yeah, time really flies and all our friends will be missing one by one as we aged.  There is no choice as the cycle of life will definitely take its course.

We had a seafood dinner with my family and his family members and we bid him " see you again " instead of goodbye.  Of course, there is a chance that we will meet again.

The power of mantra & chanting

The power of mantra

Last Saturday, it was the most relaxing session in my yoga practice. My teacher refreshed us on the art of breathing. Blending the cold left breath in-take with hot right breath in-take and holding each breath with a four count . Both the in and out breaths.

To my surprise , she also taught the chanting of a mantra.
It was a four  verse and it sang to a simple tune. With proper breathing and the wonderful chanting, it makes me feel light. The body was so relax after the season.

Before departing , I told my teacher that I feel I can fly. She asked me to stop joking. The true fact is flying is just a feeling. If we let go our weight , breath right and focus our mind , we actually can fly but the flying and weightless awareness is only a feeling.

There is a song " I believe  can fly" and  believe is the first step and with the right chanting to relax the body and mind and with the power of right breath ,we will have the power to fly in our mind. Flying is just a feeling.

Candle in the wind

I remembered the song written and sung by Elton John which have a lyric which said that life is like a candle in the wind and we don't know when the wind will come to blow off the candle. Yes, it is true life is fragile and uncertain.

The song was written as a pop song but it was later dedicated to the Princess of Wales , Diana who died in a tragic incident.  The song was sung at her funeral and it was a suiting goodbye.

Life is uncertain but death is certain. So, we have to enjoy our life every moment . It does not mean that the old will die first or earlier than the young .When a big wind blow at night , there are alot of leaves on the ground. There are a mixture of young and old leaves and it is really painted an uncertain picture of life.
For your light reading please think through the lyrics of the song :

"Candle In The Wind"

Goodbye England's rose, may you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself, where lives were torn apart
You called out to our country and you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven and the stars spell out your name

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before your legend never will

Loveliness we've lost these empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry for our nation's golden child
And even know we try the truth brings us to tears
All our words cannot express the joy you brought us through the years

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle
In the wind never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned our long before your legend ever will

Goodbye England's rose may you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself where lives were torn apart
Goodbye England's rose from a country lost without your soul
Who'll miss the wings of your compassion more than you'll ever know

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before your legend ever will

A correct mind - Lao Tze.

Lao Tze is a very wise teacher and one of his advise is that " if you correct your mind, everything will fall into its place".  It truly means that  the mind controls very thing including our happiness and our well being.

If we have a positive mind, we will be positive and if we have a negative mind, we will be negative , this is as simple as that. Yes, we do not need to complicate matters and put also of assumptions in our path. Tame our mind , we will have inner peace and we can tame our emotions.

Just imagine, when we have a headache , our whole body will be in pain and sick. If we take a panadol to cure the headache, we will be well and happy again.  This is also the effect of drugs and it just numb the brain and its thoughts and we will be floating , flying and in nirvana. However, drugs is bad for our well being and is illegal.

It is better to train and tame our brain through meditation and discipline rather than choose a simple way out. Just start with a simple exercise to focus our thoughts . Discipline ourself to do it regularly and make it a part of us. It is our life style and it is within our control and it is our choice.

The problem with people is that they lack discipline and want an easy way out. Not doing anything but expecting something to happen is a rediculours expectation.  There is a saying that " if we do the things the same way regularly , the result will get better " in this case. Hence, start at your own pace and be satisfied with the small progress until you can gradually grap control of our mind.

Never rush the practice and take your pace so that it will not bore you out or hurt your mind.  For some, the result can be fast and for some people, the result can be slow. Never compare against another person but to keep your pace.

Eventually, you will attain the greatness and start to enjoy the fruits of your hard work.  Believe me, it is a matter of practice and train your mind to be your servant.  They can be trained.

Life is good - extract

"If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place"
Lao Tzu

If you’re like most of us, you’re seeking real happiness. We all have
moments of temporary happiness - like when something nice happens to
us, or we get that thing we’ve been wanting, or we succeed in a venture.
But what about real, lasting happiness that is not dependent on
external factors?

What IS real happiness, anyway?

Defining happiness is not easy. It’s personal, and if we’re asked, it’s hard
to express it. We can say, “I’m happy” or “I’m not happy” but how does one
measure or speak of happiness?

Psychologist Ed Diener, author of Happiness: Unlocking the Mysteries of
Psychological Wealth, describes “subjective well-being” (happiness) as
a combination of life satisfaction and on a day-to-day basis, having more
positive emotions than negative emotions.

Researcher Martin Seligman, author of Authentic Happiness, defines
happiness in terms of its components:

* Pleasure: the good feelings
* Engagement: being engaged in life - having stability (usually referring

to financial), good friends, loving family, hobbies and interests
* Meaning: our sense of purpose, and using our talents and strengths to

fulfill our purpose

Happiness can be momentary or it can be long-term, as in “I’ve lived a
happy life.” It may surprise you - or not - that a happy life has nothing to
do with the terrible day you had yesterday or the fear you feel today. It’s
an overall baseline happiness. In general, if you’re a happy person, the
good outweighs the bad.

Happiness is not feeling great all the time. Feeling good is a byproduct of
engagement and meaning.

Happiness is not wealth or success. These can be temporary. It’s the rare
person whose lifestyle and stress level doesn’t rise along with their
income and success. The only exception to the “money doesn’t buy
happiness” rule is when you spend that money on experiences with other
people.

Happiness is not the absence of pain; although we often mask pain with
alcohol, sex, drugs, entertainment, escaping on exotic vacations and
extreme sports. But are we “happy” in the absence of pain? Not
necessarily. Sometimes, we’re not in pain but we’re bored, unfulfilled,
complacent… those aren’t happiness!

Happiness is not something to seek or strive for. It just IS. Or, isn’t.
Your choice.

“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.”
~ Lao Tzu

If you correct your mind, happiness will follow.

So how can you “correct your mind” so that happiness will follow?

Meditate. Meditation physically changes the brain. A Massachusetts
General Hospital study looked at the brain scans of 16 people before and
after they participated in an 8-week course in mindfulness meditation. After
the course, the regions of the brain associated with compassion and
self-awareness grew in size and activity and the parts associated with
stress shrank and exhibited less activity.

To avoid becoming less happy as you get older - to avoid becoming more
rigid, fearful, repetitive negative thought patterns - meditate.

I know, I know, it sounds like meditation is the answer to happiness, right?
Well, it may not be the answer, but it is most definitely the doorway and an
indispensable tool.

Best of all, meditation feels good. The bliss that you get in a state of
very deep meditation is unlike any happiness that we can achieve in the
physical experience on Earth. What better way to start the day? Start the
day off meditating and you start the day off happy. The rest of your day
will flow beautifully.

Your inner bliss can be nurtured and encouraged. It’s about getting in
touch with a simple inner pleasure of doing something you love, enjoying
the moments, keeping your sense of wonder and curiosity, and realizing
that you don’t need external sources to make you happy.

You make you happy.

Whatever your situation, you can change it. Inside you, you can reinterpret.
Shift your perspective. Meditation will help you do this… 40 minutes a day,
every day, to greater and greater happiness.

"Creating the daily habit of deep heartfelt thanks is truly amazing. I used
to do this after meditation and then incorporated it into my shower time.
Now, every single day, and numerous times each day, thoughts of deep
appreciation automatically go through my mind.

I thought of my mother.

One of the night , I dream of my mother. She passed away for more than 15 years ago.  I have not been truthful to her and I was afraid that she will know the truth after she go into another realm.

I have a few regrets.  During her last few years, I have not been with her despite going back to eat dinner and visit her during the weekends. I should have noticed something was wrong with her when she complaint that she is not sleeping well.  I took her to a clinic and the doctor just told me that old people is like that as they often sleep during the day and could sleep at night.  It is not the first time I am disappointed with a GP. They bullshit a lot and only know how to make money by prescribing us their expensive medication and exorbitant consulting fee.

Besides the point, I wonder whether my deceased mother could see what I have done with my life. There is a big secret that I kept to myself which I have not told her.  It is a kind of personal issue.  But, does it matter ? If I told her, maybe it would be better . But , I just leave it as that.

During my life journey, she has been advising me to divest my investments as these investments were breeding on my blood money.  But , it all falls on deaf ears. Why is it so difficult to listen to her ? It was quite disturbing at that time and there were so many considerations. I became a gambler and hoping that my investment will recover itself.  It is actually going down one way , the way to hell. I was bleedding and wounded and I kept holding on and find solace in hiding behind my problems. Things were changing very fast and I indulged in comtemplation and hopefulness. It was actually hopelessness.

Yeah, she looks healthy in my dream and the image of her sitting on the swing infront of her house waiting for me. It was very unfortunate that only after I sold of my investment , then she passed away.  At that time, I was having more time for her but she could not wait to go away forever. I could not unwound the damage and hurts which I have caused to her. However, heaven cannot wait.

Until this day, my heart bleeds when I think of her. She has struggle so much to bring me up but I went through a bad patch and have neglected her in the process.  I do not know whether this is destined or not but this period left me with some regrets.

It has kept huanting me when I dream of her and it will remained a memory forever in my mind.  I want to tell her that " Mum, I love you "and I missed you very much over the years.

A detox test

I went through a health check via a computer programme by holding to a sensor rod for 3 minutes and after that almost instantly, my health result was told to me by a nutritionist .  She was barely 25 years old.  Slim and fit.  I wonder how such computer tools can do such miracle job.

She intenfy 10 areas ie the heart, liver, kidney, stomach, uric, blood pressure , urinary bladder ,etc. She told me four weakness out of 10 which hits the bull's eye.  I cannot believe it and yet, I continued to let her explain who to carry out a detox programme.  She want me not to take medication to relieve these ills because it will be a life time of medication.  By detox at regular intervals, my vital organ would be able to function again.

She took out a package of drinks , packages of herbs , vinegar, apple cedar , etc and told me to have a programme that would last a few days. She told me to check my stool at the end of the programme and you will know what toxic is in my system.  One set cost me RM430 and it needs four sets to clean up my system.  I was not convinced so I took one set to try it out.  I am waiting for a convenient time to do it as my bowels will be loose for the whole day when I finished the programme.

The next day, I was with my friend , I casually mentioned to him and he told me that his pharmacist friend told him that there is already such detox fibres in the market.  If you want to cleanse your kidney or your liver or your heart, there a specific fibres in the market to do it.  It is cheaper and more effective. I felt abit cheated but never the least, I am wiser now.

I found out that exercise or yoga is only helping us to manage our physical body and it has minimum impact on our vital organs. We need some thing to cleanse our body off the toxins which is in our internal body system. I have been trying to use fruit juice as the catalyst but still it is not sufficient.

Now I understand that I need to get rid of the toxins to ensure the juice in my body system keeps functioning and moving to balance my whole body mechanism.

I do not know what the computer tools have done to check the weakness in my body but such computer tools are so advance in the West where we need only to key in the symptoms and the machine will be able to tell us our medical problems.  Now computer is everywhere including medical diagnosis. They becoming GOD.

What are we waiting for?

What are we waiting for?

Life is a routine as a  trend. We sleep, we eat, we work, we enjoy ,we exercise as the days passed. What are we waiting for ?

We study, we graduate, we found a job and get married , start a family and grow old and we die. What are we waiting for in the meantime?

We follow life's routine and follow the way of the establishment and abide the customs and beliefs and in the end what do we get?

We work hard, stay thrifty , gets rich , drive big cars, stay in big house and provide our children with a good job and bright future, what do we get? And what are we waiting for?

Millions and millions of people have gone the same way before us and in the end what do we get. Meanwhile what are we waiting for ?

So what we do? Quit our job. Go traveling , enjoy what we have and get back our freedom. So after that what ? We are at times happy and at times sad going through the routine in our life. Again, what are we waiting for?

Yes, we have to break through this boring thought. Don't wait for things to happen. Cultivate inner peace and enjoy the moments as it comes. Stay in the present and enjoy your inner peace. Be contented and accept that we can not avoid the eventual ending  following the cycle of life.
Death will be the end. Train your mind to accept  it and live well by your own way. Forget about the Establishment and regain your freedom. The freedom to live , speak , eat and doing the things you like. Celebrate LIFE.

Waking up wondering why?

Waking up and asking why?

Have you wake up from a sleep and wondering why you have woke up? The body is a strange mechanism and it don't take orders from us. If only we can tell it to sleep and it will just shut off then this is the best it can do for us.

There are many articles which connect the body and the mind. If you quiet down your mind ,your body will rest completely and your sleep will come. The mind can control your body.

If your mind is disturb, your sleep will be interrupted or your body is stressed and not well , your mind will be disturb.

The past few nights I have this experience of drinking a lot of fluid and my stomach stays full and I can dozed off and wake up with no reasons feeling full.

What should we do?  Yes. Sit up or walk about or do sometime until the feeling of full goes again, don't force yourself to sleep, it will only make you restless and upset. Accept the fact and keep its awareness and try quiet  down your mind. Never force but let the sleep come itself.

The water will find its own level.

" Riding a horse to watch flowers"

A Chinese wisdom.

It is a blur vision of multi colors . We are racing against time while our lives passes through. We. Ould not see what type of flowers or its shape and distinct colors, everything is a mass of blurs. We can stretch life to a 100 and continue to chase for time but we fail to live our lives and admire the beauties in this world while rushing through our journey.

Pause . Stop and come down from the horse and walk on your journey, you find that life is much more than rushing through your journey in life. Take a careful look at things around you and besides you. Talk time to watch and stare at things around you . You will see the beautiful colors in life and the wonderful textures of the flowers.

You will start to appreciate the people around you and you will enjoy third presence more. You will see the people around you growing and changing instead of living in an illusion and always rushing and pushing.

Life is more than that and it is not how long we live but how well we have lived and continued living.

5 ways to remain positive (extract)

IHistory has shown that those with an optimistic outlook on life are the ones who usually find the most success.
For me, changing my negative mental attitude to a positive one resulted in a completely different lifestyle, both personally and professionally. When I changed my mindset and increased my positivity, I went from multiple failed startups and a depressed state to starting a successful app business and being featured in Entrepreneur Magazine.
Here are five tips that have helped me release my negative mentality and become more positive:
Express gratitude. One of the easiest ways to increase your positivity is to express gratitude. Being thankful for what you currently have immediately releases any negativity that you might be holding onto. Gratitude instantly puts you in touch with the feeling of love. Where love resides, fear and all other negative emotions cannot.
The best and most effective way to implement gratitude in your life is to express it every morning. Upon waking up, express 10 things you are grateful for. This list can either be spoken out loud or within the confines of your mind, but they must be detailed and come from your heart. Closing your eyes can further help you feel gratitude.
Be a giver. Many times, negative feelings can be caused by focusing on the perceived negative aspects of your life. You can instantly shift this feeling by giving unconditionally to others.
Share your skills with the people around you. If someone is looking for advice, help them out. Do not hesitate or doubt your value. Even the smallest of gestures or thoughts shared can cause a massive shift in another individual's perspective.
Control your breath. It has been said that those who have the ability to control their breath have the ability to control their life. In many aspects, this statement is very true. Look back to a time when you lost control. What happened to your breathing pattern? In anger, your breath became short and quick. If you control your breath, you can understand and change your negative emotions.
Either in a quiet space or during meditation, practice following your breathing. As you take a breath in (through your nose), feel the air enter your body and go deep into your lungs. As it hits the deepest part of your lungs, feel it slowly leave your body (through your mouth) and release any and all tension.
Visualize success. Tapping into your ability to visualize or imagine can be used as a powerful tool to become more positive. Many of the world's greatest minds, including Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Tiger Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger, have been known to use the power of visualization to attract what they desire throughout life, so why aren't you?
Begin by closing your eyes. Think of a positive event that occurred in your past. In your mind's eye, see the event exactly as it happened. Place yourself within the event and feel the positive emotions as they occurred. When you open your eyes, allow yourself to stay in this positive state. The effects of visualization can be multiplied if meditation is practiced beforehand.
Meditate. Meditation is one of the most effective ways to increase your positivity. The practice of meditation expands awareness within the individual and allows for a clear connection between mind, body and soul. Through meditation, you can learn to release negative emotions that are holding you back and connect with your higher self.
Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit, lie down or do whatever feels right to you. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax. While breathing deeply, feel yourself letting go of all the emotions you are holding onto. With each breathe, let go a little more. As you let go, realize everything around you is made of love and allow yourself to live within this love.
If you implement these tactics and practice these techniques, you will be connected to the flow of life and you will find more "luck" than you ever have before.

The art of confrontation

The art of confrontation

This is an art and not a science . When to attack, when to retreat and when to strike.  The most important is how hard is the strike to hit it in and get the optimum impact.

All these steps are different in different circumstances and this the beauty of this art. Just like in the art of Tai Chi.

Each movement  , each posture, each breath  and the speed will determine the strike or retreat of each moment.
The firmness of the step, the movement of the hands guiding the breath,, the depth of each breath and the relaxation of each push and retreat  will provide the optimum impact of this coordinated movement . When people attack, you retreat and you counter attack. When the force is too strong , you have to avoid the force and move away and wait for the right moment to attack. It is not necessary for us to counter each strike . A retreat is also an attack because the attacker missed the mark and used up his or her energy. However, when to exercise these steps varies according to your opponent。 if he is weak, you kill him in one strike and if he is powerful, you have to retreat and wait for the timing to attack or you better run away.

These sequence of action also can be used in the war of words or in a quarrel. If your opponent is your superior , you better judge his mood before raising a point or be aware of his limit and be prepared to hold your balls and run. Apply the wisdom of say nothing and do nothing when you are angry. Just walk away from the situation and let to your anger. Stay well and fight another day.

The speed ,the power of each blow, the depth of each breath and execution of each step needs good judgement to be effective. This will depend on your skill and knowledge to judge.

To know the strength and weakness of your opponent will help you to win the war. A thousand times over.

The fruit's sweetness

I was told by my friend , an old Japanese expatriate living in Penang.  He told me that we should eat the fruits when it is just ripe.  If we eat it too young, it is sour , bitter and coase and if we wait until  it is just ripe, the fruits will be at its best taste and texture will be awsome. However, if we eat it when it is too ripe , it will be too soft and too watery and too sweet.

Everything have its moments to reach its maximum.  For food, action , sex and happiness. There is an optimum moment to enjoy all the wonders in life.

Sometimes , the moment may not come easy  and we have to tolerate adn strike it when it is hot. To make a good sword, the sword must be treated and hammered into shape at the appropriate heat or temperature.

For happiness, it will be the maximum if the right environment  and situation pervail. When there is an achievement , when there is a recognition and when there is a proper stage to provide the optimum effect.

For sex, it is a matter of fore play and when the climax is up, the proper strike will bring it higher to perfection. The feelings will be released and the juice will flow.

So, the right timing , the right action, the right existence will bring out the best effect. The foods' best sweetness.

We have to have the patience  and the wisdom to wait and strike at the best timing.

A small German restaurant ,Penang.

It is not the little wine bar near irrawaddy road but a small german restaurant oppersite the Chinese Chin Woo along Burmah Road, Penang.  You have drive slowly before you can see it.

Last Saturady, I took my wife to this german restuarant  and it was a small restaurant operating like a home cooked place. There was barely six tables and most of it was occupied . It was rainingly heavily outside and there was only a few parking space.

It was warm inside with a simple set up and with the bar and cashier occupying the back portion. Their specialty was pork belly, german sausage , beef soup, chicken and pasta. I ordered two house wine to celebrate my wife's birthday and she ordered beef while I ordered the pork belly.  I also ordered a german sausage and it was tasty and good.

The service was also acceptable but it took awhile for the food to come to our table. Apart from this point was  quite a good dinner and both of us enjoy the food and the drinks.

It is also highly recommended to people who love good home cooked german food.

Lau Ee sharks fin restaurant, Penang .

Last night , I celebrated my wife birthday with my daughter , sister , brother in law and his girlfriend at the Lau Ee restaurant in Air Itam.  I have been there a couple of times in the past and it has got less business now.  The last time , I went there , it was only my table and last night , it was two tables.

We ordered abalone, crab noodles, goose leg noodles , chicken and fried rice  and it cost me more than RM500 . Just the abalone was already RM380. what can I say ? They told me that it was the best mexican abalone. I have test it before and it was real good I must say.

The owner asked me to order sharksfin. I don't mind the price but thinking that the sharks were thrown back into the sea after the fishmen cut off their fins  really turn me off. What a sin it will be if we were to eat sharksfin. Lets avoid it as I remember we sow what we reap.

I brought along the wine and the birthday cake and luckily, they do not charge any service fee.

The Lau Ee sharksfin restaurant have been famous for a while when they operate legally in Georgetown and suddenly, it shifted their place of operation and finally at Hai Keat estate in Air Itam , near to Penang hill.

It was a private house and inside was really green while a big fish pond with Japanese carps and a garden for rabbits. It has the serenity and the wonderful chi for the dinners.

It is highly recommended for your to experience the good atmosphere and the wonderful chi while eating good and tasty food.

It is a messy place.

The messy place

I have live for almost 20 years in my house and the neighborhood is gradually getting crowded with some flats and apartments springing up. The cars are also getting more on the roads especially getting to work and back.

Luckily, the Government widen the roads leading in and out of this township. However , there are only a few parks in the area. There green lungs are very important as this is providing space and fresh air for the area.

However, there is a small park right in front of my house. It was mend to let the residents to exercise and relax but it was left as an open space for a long time. First , it bece a car park as the place got more congested. Then, come an Indian temple . It started small but gradually increase in size. God also took a space from the park and then a fee big cages came and  some people  started to breed dogs and it gets noisy and the neighbors complained  to the council and the change to rearing chicken and started to build  sheds for living . Finally, they erected a pole to pull electricity to the temple and the sheds. Everything gets settled in .

A complain was make to the council that electricity have to supply illegally to the shed. Then , the reply came that the supply was legal and when the people debuted that the shed is illegal , the reply fell silent.

Is it legal to supply electricity to an illegal house ??? LOL and stupid.
