My CSR staff – OBS

OBS have been working with me for 5 years. Before that she has been working with an American MNC.  She is quite a lively person and she has been working very hard.  She belongs to the Gen Y and she came from a  well-to-do family and she has been provided with everything in life.  She is one of those youngsters who is born with a silver spoon in their mouth.

To my generation,  Gen Y’s behavior is very strange.  They can come late to work and give lame excuses like they cannot wake up in time or they can leave early because they have a headache.  If you scold them a little bit harder, they will take MCs to rest their broken hearts.  If we scold them very hard, they will resign without a job and can have the cheek to tell us that they need a six months break. On the first day of their work, they drive big cars than their bosses or their peers.  Strange and incredibly strange.

Luckily, OBS have non of these bad habits or lame excuses. She comes to work on time, work OT without been forced to except she needs air-condition during OT hours, she drove a  MyV to work and she accepts all my assignments without hesitation including taking on additional task to support my weekly CSR news. How wonderful that she is from the Gen Y  but behaving like the baby boomers.  Yes, I am from the baby boomers era.

For us, we work very hard for our money , never take sick leaves , come early to work and leave late at night , we take back our work home to do ,  we earned our own many to buy our own house, our own car  and accepts all the assignments thrown to us by our bosses.  Work OT without claims and will die for  our company.  We are the die hard breed.

I am looking at this evolution with great interest . From Gen Y , now it is the turn for Gen X . I believe Gen –X would be more self centered , more daring , happiness is the  paramount importance, more isolated into the computer world  and  have a “come what may” attitude.  They will do what they want and will be more rebellious than Gen Y.

OMG, let see how the generations will evolve. Better or worst ?  It does not matter anymore and it is irreversible. Let it move on and change with it and live by it.

Amitabha.
