Lunch at Karala, New World Park , Penang

I had lunch with a few colleagues after a meeting at this restaurant .The restaurant called itself " Passion of Karala ". Karala is a state in India and is very famous for their Indian Cuisines. It was quite crowded.

We ordered a big curry fish head , fried sotong and a fried  bitter goud and two plates of tampa. It took about 15 minutes before the dishes were delivered and they serve the rice and vegetables on a banana leaf.  To me, the curry fish head was acceptable but to all my other colleagues, they complain of too much curry powder and salty. It was a disappointment to them but the other dishes were quite acceptable to them.

I have said before " one man's meat is another man's poison ".  Taste is very subjective but then if out of four people, three of them don't like it then what can I say.  Majority win and I have to concur with them.

Compared to the curry fish head at Juru, Prai , the taste in Juru is the best so far and it is worth travelling the distance to get some good fish heads. But, the character of the owner or the manager left much to be desired.  She carrys an ever unhappy face with no smile and rude reply when you chase for your order.  I think she has more than enough sales and that is why she is so stuck up and arrogant.

Comparing the neatness and cleaniness, the one at Karala was so much better and the captain and the waiters were more friendly and carrying a smile.  To me, it has balanced off some negativity of their salty curry fish head.

A success of the restaurant will determine by the taste, smell and color of the dishes and also a happy environment will make eating more enjoyable.

Namaste.
