The process of cremation

After 5 days of staging the wake for my FIL, it ends with the cremation of his body and on the 7th day, that is today, all the family members have to gather at the crematorium to collect his ashes. All the family members gathers in a small chamber and on top of the table is a heap of bones and by the side, there is a urn.

Each member of the family takes their turn to pick up a piece of the bone and place it into the urn.  A caretaker is there to assist anyone who needs help to carry out the task. When the family members have do their part, the rest of the bones is carefully pull into the urn by the caretaker and in order to place all the bones in the urn, he used a short stick to crush all the bones. Each thrush against the bones, it gives out a "sha" sound and it is really nerve racking to watch the action and listening to the sound. This is the saddest moment and some lady members of the family will start to cry. When all the bones are crushed, the caretaker will put the cap on the top of the urn and tie a red string to secure the cap to the urn.

I was watching the whole process quietly and wonder why do the caretaker subject the family members to such cruel actions. Why is this process need to be watch by anyone for the matter. The crushing of the bones could be done behind the scene and there is no significance for such actions to be open to all to watch. Such dramatic and rhetoric should be dispense with and the process should be cleaner and more pleasant.  Disgusting !

My SIL, MC asked me whether there is a better way to cremate and the thought of burning really scare her.  My reply is simple. When you are dead, there should not be anymore pain , if not, you are been burn alive and that is a crime. Yeah, I agreed the thought can be disturbing. The latest technology is deep freeze. The body is frozen to an extremely cold temperature and the whole body will disintegrate by a mere touch. But again, for those who is scare of cold , then they prefer the burning.  So, there is a choice whether extremely hot or cold. The choice is yours. There is another choice is by burial but then , the worms will get you..The thoughts of worms...hahax. Ok, maybe , you choose to sent your body into space in a capsule and wait for miracle in the future when you can be restore to life., It maybe possible.

Nevertheless, with death, there is meaning to living but if living eternally, it will make life meaningless.
The process of evolution must be preserve and it is not a matter of how long we live but how well, we live.
