Every good things must come to an end.

There is a saying " plan as if you live for ever but live as if there is no tomorrow".  There is no such things as plan to fail but only fail to plan.  It is important that we have purpose  and hope in our life and in the midst of planning, we think we can live for ever. But, tomorrow is never promised and all good things will come to an end at its right time. Everything will fall into its own place over time. Just the CNY celebration, it is over before we knew it or enjoy it to the fullest.  Why is it passing so fast ? It was as if a moment ago, we were celebrating the occasion together.

There is the beauty of time. It slips away quietly under our nose and before we realize it, it has moved on.  There is a story of an abbot who will invite one of his disciple to walk with him every evening to watch the sunset and there is one strict condition, no talking is allowed.  One evening, he was walking with his disciple and the sunset was very beautiful that day and the disciple cannot help it and exclaim " what a beautiful sunset " . Immediately, the abbot stop his walking and sent the disciple back to his monastery. Later , the abbot explain his action to his disciples. If we put words to describe a beautiful moment, it is like putting a limit to its beauty. There are no perfect words to describe a beautiful moment which can only fully felt through awareness. The same thing as expressing words to good food. The taste can only be felt by the person who eat it and no words will be able to carry the same taste to the listener. When we say, it is good taste or extremely tasty, it varies very differently to different people. So, it can never be felt the same by another person. That is the reason, we have to feel and be aware of its goodness instead of describing it.

If we think back about the few days of CNY holiday , how have we enjoyed it ? Can words describe the goodness which we have experienced during the celebration.  It was felt and gone. The memory of the experience is blur and uncertain. We felt it was not enough and we want more of it.  The problem with us is that our mind move on to a sequence of events too fast and we do not have the time to absorb it fully.  Many fleeting moments and bits and pieces of joyful moments.  If we slow down our actions by a 100 times, then perhaps, we can be aware and absorb the goodness of each moment in greater details. This slow down experience could make us felt fulfilled and satisfied so we do not feel that we have not enough.

Putting this analogy to eating food. We eat too much if we are not aware of what we are eating. If we slow down our eating, we will be aware of what we are eating, the good taste  and smell of the food and our body will tell us when we have enough.  Try chewing more of your food and slow down the eating process and you will realized the wonderful feeling coming out of awareness. We should train our mind to be aware of each moment and we will never feel hungry again.

I hope all of you will attain this awareness and you will have to do it yourself.  We can be trained to fish and there is no fish unless we catch one our self.

Namaste.
