Astro Yoga - learn how to float and fly

Folks, I just came back from a yoga session.  My whole body and back is aching but I feel relax and good.  The first part of the session is free style warm up where we are supposed to warm up our body and stretch our joints and muscles. Normally, the teacher will push us through a route of warm up exercise and then, she will quicken the pace and got our body heated up for a session of special yoga regime. Today, it was astro yoga. This is not the first time and we have gone through it several times before.

The good thing of astro yoga is that one person act as support and the other person just place his or her body is a pose on the support. In this manner, it is like acrobatic acts and the body, joints ,back and muscles are stretch to the limit. It is just like a balance act on a support. If we strike a perfect pose with the support, we are weightless and get suspended in mid air. If the pose is right, a petite lady can lift up a sumo muscular man like me. The perfect balance allow the flyer who is dangling on top of the support to remain suspended and floating. It is in harmony and you could relax and go into a meditative stance.  Dangling in mid air , it is a wonderful sensation.

There are so many forms of yoga and the purpose is to relax your body and calm your mind. By good and proper stretching, the muscles and joints is push to its limits and this encourage blood flow through the joints. This will cure arthritis and uric  attacks. The most important is that it gives you back the joint flexibility, a tone muscle frame and strong breathing techniques.  As we age, our joints get stiffen and our turning angles deteriorates and gradually , some angles are out of focus for us. The Yoga exercise is very painful at the beginning but it gradually will ease the pain and cure the stiffness in all our joints.

It is never too old to start nor it is never too difficult as the pose are only a few. Practice makes perfect and gradual stretching improves mobility and agility. It is difficult to fly like a bird but you can float like a bee and gets the sensation of suspension. It relaxes the mind and body and sharpen your reflexes.

If you want to learn, you have to choose a good and patient teacher who can guide you through the steps and gradually ease you into a routine with the minimum pain and suffering.  The pain in the end is an enjoyable pain. After the pain is gone, it relaxes your body and mind.

Namaste.
