Eye floaters - dark spots

Dark spots on the eye..

One evening last week, my eyes was very tired due to long hours of work and also the medication for my cough.
My eyes just shut off while I was working on my computer. I fought against the tiredness and kept my eye open, suddenly I saw the appearance of a dark spot in my right eye. I know I am in trouble.  The dark spot moved with my vision but it was only a dark spot.

I wanted to visit an eye doctor immediately but my logical mind asked me to wait and see what happen next. I think I have damaged my eye because of over straining my eyes. It was a foolish act. I could have choose to shut my eyes and let it rest.

I check the google what idles it all mean. These spots are called eye floaters. It can appear because of old age and bleeding in the eye.  The condition can get better over time or remained the same but it does not interfere with the vision of the eye. But , if it comes with flashes or loss of eye sight , then we need to seek treatment from the eye doctor.

My experience tells me that we must take note of the signals coming from our body just like our nature's call. If we are tired we should sleep or rest , if we want to pee , we better pee and not to hold on. If we are hungry, we should eat and do not go against the nature of our body.
When we are young , we maybe able to tolerate these stress and strain but the ultimate result, it will be a faster degeneration of our body functions.

We have to re-act to our body's signal and then we can have a better health.

It will be getting hotter ....

It is going to be hotter and hazier in the coming days, weeks and months, So be prepared and this was reported in the news. That is all the authority can do that is to alert the people. But, what is the real reason ? The temperature have been hovering at 35 to 42 deg C and we are sweating profusely at night and in the morning. That is all they can do, please take care of yourself. It is amazing how stupid these authorities is behaving themselves. "PLEASE TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF". Basically, the haze is from the fire in Indonesia and it is because of the opening burning in the jungles and this have been happening for many years and it is still persist to carry on despite some many complaints by the NGOs and also Malaysian local authorities. Something need to be done and to be DONE fast. Is there any conspiracy or there is lots of linkage between the authorities to gain from such matters. Why is it getting hotter ? Blame it on El Nino. Just point a finger at them and the problem will be resolved . Has it been resolved ? The Mother Earth is striking back at the abusers of this earth. Why hasn't the Government participate in green activities to lower the impact of the temperature ? Any carbon foot print policy ? Or just leave it to the Environment to resolve the matter by itself. It is just like doing the same thing again and again by the same way and expecting a different result. What kind of stupidity ? So, now we have to live in an environment which nobody in Malaysia have lifted a finger to handle the messy issue. Namaste.

In the heat of the weather...

In the heat of the weather...

Lately , the temperature is very hot running above 30 deg C after lunch and the light of the sun is so glaring and hurting. Even early in the morn, the warm temperature caused us to sweat profusely and make our shirts stuck to our back new use of the sweat. Actually, what is happenng?

The Haze keeps the temperature warm and El NiƱo also add to the temperature with no rain. The combination of the Factors keep the temperature High and caused us to get cough, fever and then sick.

The high temperature will last for another six months  and this will caused sickness to a lot of people if we are not aware of these factors.

As a precaution , drink lots of water and don't stay out too long in the heat. Drink cooling herbal tea to help you body to keep their balance . Exercise caution and live in a healthy style and do a lot of exercise to sweat and health.

It is within our choice to be strong and to be persistent to keep ourself of any health trouble and let us live happily and comfortably within this soaring heat.

It will be over soon.

One walloping cough

I was told by my Chinese Physician that my body have become imbalance due to my recent frequent travel . Body imbalance ?   My body have been absorbing different human influence, weather changes, varying magnetic impact and exposure to different water and air as I travelled across the continent. The Yin and Yang have become mismatch and conflicting in nature.

Yes, my body imbalance have caused my body heat to accummulate in my body and trapped in my lungs which creates tremendous phelgum which coat the lungs and making my body to cough to get rid of this bloody sticky stuff.  This imbalance will not help even if  I drink water to cold down my body , it only flood my stomach with water.

He told me to reduce the heat in my body by taking chinese herbs and use bird nest to harmonize my body ie to balance the yin and the yang. With these two steps , my body will release the phelgum held on to the lungs.  The medication supposed to help weaken the phelgum holding on the chinese and the lung will carry out the functions to extract it out.

Ow ! it cost me a fortune to drink bird nest  and I really doubt the effectiveness but  it really happen. The next day, the flamp came out in big drops and it finally dry up and stopped.   It is in the last bit that the ending phelgum are still stubborn and it will test the lungs  by inistigate a cough out but yet the phrlgum will come out in pieces. s

It at this phase , it is where the coughing was the most difficult .  Each cough will punish the chest and the phelgum come out like little droplets. This is where the patient will need a lot of patience to push it  through.  It could be praying to GOD and asked GOD for health and solution to getting out the lasting bit of coughs.

This problem will force the patient to go througb the porcess of getting the help from  spiritual sector to  push on to getting a solution to clear all the sticky and troublesome phelgum  in its finally stage.

But , determination and time will solve  sickness in reasonable times if we continue the herbal treatment . There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Tea time at Idealite , GP in Penang

Tea time at Idealite , GP ,Penang

I was shopping in Gurney plaza with my wife and I stumble  on a vegetarian place in the Mall. The  restaurant serves healthy food but all the dishes listed in the menu is only friuts, nuts , vegetables and herbs.

In  the menu, it experiences the philosophy of the restaurant and it is set up to provide food of great taste and genuinely healthy dishes.

I preferred a herbal drink and my wife ordered a sesame paste and a lor Han drink. It cost me a Rm17 for the tea. I think it is reasonable and I think their concept is very good.

But Business at this time between 5pm to 7pm was a bit slow on a Saturday.  Before I leave the place business was abit better.

As for the food , there is so much selections including Japanese sushi and their vegetarian dishes. All the type of greens and noodles blended with a. Malaysian taste.

In the menu, it also explain the healthy aspect of each food listed in the menu. There are food for anti-aging , impotent, preventing cancer, revitalizing the body, etc.

It will be a wonderful experience to try the laksa ,nasi lemah and all serve with ingredients and only vegetables.

You don't need to eat only in a Buddhist or Indian vegetarian shops and this is another available option.

My recent trip to Shanghai

When I reached Shanghai putong airport, it was already 8.00pm after flying for 7 hours excluding transit time and travelling them of 5 hours.  My aircraft started flying at 8.00 am on the same day. From Singapore to Shanghai, it was a continuous flying of 5 hours and it was the most boring stretch in the trip despite I watch movies on the plane.

Yeah, finally, it is Shanghai and the silent song suddenly started ringing in my year " Yeh Shanghi, Yeh Shanghai " . A land of paradise with night clubs and bars. But as I was travelling on the highway from Putong airport to the city center , I could see slaps of building with small aparts lined on both sides of the highway. These slaps of building is so cold and gray and there was no such fanfare. Towards to the city center, I could see more lights and lower brightly lit buildings but it was only in isolations.  What  a cold city ?

Another thing, I was shocked that there was a thick haze covering the city despite a small drizzle. The temperate was very hot because of the haze and the slaps of building lining the street. It was like a tombstone city with all the people lying in their final resting place or pigeon hole apartments. Nevertheless, the property in Shanghai is very expensive.

I also passed by the Shanghai beach river bank and the lighting on both sides of the river is glittering and bright. Lighted up like a christmas tree.

The next was a full day meeting having not change to wonder around. On the first night , I was advised not to go out wondering in the city because  many foreign workers from other provinces were in the city and employeed as construction workers.  These workers are not kind and will tend to rob foreigners wondering in the street.  So, there goes my confidence of wondering in the city.

I dreath the trip back as it was another 7 hours flight but the travelling time was short.  My flight took off at 8am from Shanghai Putong and reached Penang at 5.30pm , a bit shorter than on my arrival trip to Shanghai.  Yes, finally I am home and I felt drained and weak but I am home.  It was a wonderful feeling of back in the comfort of my home.

Life journey- it is unique

Life journey- it is unique

I was on my way to Shanghai and I have the chance of watching a local movie " The Journey". It was so real to me. All the events and all the uncles is similar to my generation. "'All the Ang Kong por pi" and the villages. It was all in my childhood.

The memories just came back to me. My dead uncles , relatives and friends. Yes, dying is part of the process. Died by accident , sickness , old age. As time move on, the old generations died like flies and now, it is starting with my generation. This is the life journey.

All of us lived differently and doing different roles In the life of others while others played different roles in our life. It is all in a  screen play.

Every often In our life , we hold fast to our beliefs and ideas and not realizing that it is already out of date. Sometimes, we are in time to realize it and we change for the better but at times, we hold our wrong beliefs into our grave. Whatever, it is just mend to be and there is no right or wrong about it. Just let it be like a part of a script. There is no point asking why me?

So the saying goes "'life is. Journey and not a destination. So enjoy the events which keeps unfolding in our life. " When It comes to an end , there is no regrets".

The land of the warlords

A land  full of warlords

In ancient times when the King is weak , the country was divided in to so many states and governed by warlord. There will prevail a lawlessness situation where every state put up their own flags and rules.

Everything is in a dire straits situation and the King become just a puppet or a rubber stamp. It divides the people and create conflicting cultures. Eventually , it is Everyman for themselves. The strong controls the weak and the strong established their own clans and styles.

This was the situation thousands or years ago in warring states in China and this history have been repeating many times over the years. This could lead to the collapse of a country.

The signs are written on the wars yet many are blind to it.any are only worry for their families and others are only worried for themselves. Greed is the spoiler and it makes people blind.

I is time to open our eyes and see what is happening around us and to exercise our own right to elect those people who can protect and do what is right for us.

The drinking lady bankers in Penang

The drinking  lady bankers

Recently, I happen to meet all the famous drinking lady bankers in Penang. I had lunch with one of them today and this is the fourth one. All these are quite senior in the banking actor and if they get together they will be like the 4 golden flowers named after the four golden actress in Hong Kong.

The lady banker today was 'I' and she told me that four ladies from four different banks in Penang are fighting for business from the corporates in Penang. Everyone of them have strong drinking power and is famous among the corporate businessman in the state.

If they get together, sparks will fly and they are prepared to sleep in hotel rooms if they are drunk or knock out. This shows that there are competition everywhere.  Everyone ego to their physical limits to get business.

Drinking moderately promotes good health but drinking severely and getting drunk is very damaging to health. Moreover, drinking can be addicted , yet it cannot be missing from entertainment in business or private.

There are so much stories of business man getting I stomach cancer due to over drinking. Two of my senior friends in the business associations died from stomach cancer. There are many others which have passed away from the same sickness without my knowledge.  One of my former Japanese  bosses also suffered the same fate. He was really a strong drinker when I worked with him many years ago.

I have seen many people drunk and cannot even sit straight and myself was drunk a few times in my life.
I know the feeling and it is horrible. Some even become more bolder and fearless when they are drunk and it is very embarrassing for the guest or friends around them.

Like a say " drinking moderately can be destressing but drinking excessively can be damaging to your health and reputations. So , beware.

A joke : Grandma still drives....

Grandma still drives

Grandma is eighty-eight years old and still drives her own car. She
writes:

Dear Grand-daughter,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a
'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ..

I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a
thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.

So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.

Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.

I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in
thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the
light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't honked,
I'd never have noticed.

I found that lots of people love Jesus!

While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy,
and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of
God!'

'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'

What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!

Everyone started honking!

I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those
loving people...

I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!

There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him
yelling something about a sunny beach.

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger
stuck up in the air.

I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.

He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something.

Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window
and gave him the good luck sign right back.

My grandson burst out laughing.

Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!

A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that
they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.

I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is
when I noticed the light had changed.

So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on
through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection
before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave
them after all the love we had shared.

So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the
Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord
for such wonderful folks!!

Will write again soon,

Love, Grandma

Hope & Love

These are two ingredients that keep life going.  With hope for a better tomorrow and with love in you or with you, will keep you moving and continue to live.

What is hope ?  There are so many aspects.  Hope for more wealth, health and happiness for one self or on a large scale , hope for world peace, our family's health, our friend's health, well being of others , etc. Whether it is for own or others , the hope is the same. It has a universal meaning.

What about love ? Again, there are so many aspects as in Hope. Love for yourself  or for others or love for your family.  This feeling is also  universal if you let it be. You can also break through the barrier of self and spread it universally or turn it into a compassion.

What about if there is hope without love ? Yes, it becomes in balance and not in a whole.  It can still survive as a standalone.  Hope will make the world go round but it will be sad as you do not have somebody to share with. But , again, it need not share with others for Hope to survive.

Then what about Love without Hope ? I think Hope is a great being but Love makes Hope more meaningful and whole. It compliment each other and make the power or impact greater.

Some people think love is a physical love or a possession or you own the love of a person.  This is a very limited interpretation of love.  The awareness of love for others is far and wide and beyond borders. The love for your wife, your family, your friends, your school mates, your country, the whole world and the whole universe.  It is limitless and spaceless.

The Hope being is an individual's expectation but it can have the limitless and spaceless expects when it is extended to others and out of the limit of self.  Hope for world peace.  hope for everybody's happiness.  It can have the vastness as love.

Your propective and outlook in these two factors depends on yourself and your intention.  Try to break the barrier and move beyond yourself , those near to you and move it far and wide and you will feel the vastness in your life and your thoughts.

I met an old friend today

I met an old friend for lunch. He is retired and now doing a small business to pass his time and earned some money for his daily expenses. This friend was a secondary school friend  and he was a banker for thirty plus years before he retired. Yes, we have been pals during the school days and we continued to business with each other when he was in the bank.

We have came through life a long way  and we know each other very well until this day.  He has gone old with his bald head and rotten teeths but I am a bit better than him still keeping whatever hair I have and wearing my dentures. I think he is more hagged than me.

We talk about our old friends during the lunch and he updated me that a few mutual friends have actually retired.  For him, he taking things easy and pass each day with gratitude.  Yes, we have to live very day as a blessing and try to live happily. Whatever can we asked for after so many years of hard working life.

He has four children and all female and I keep teasing him whether he want a male child or not but he did not get his wish. His children have grown up already and two of them will be working very soon. Well, this is the phase in life.  We grow old wither away while our children start rat race through this materialistic world.

Life is so funny and when we look back , it has been 40 years past and how many more 10 years left and the feeling is anxiety and helpless.  However, we have to manage this feeling and try to have hope each day.  Whatever hope it can be, otherwise, without hope there is no meaning to life.

Yeah, my time to retire will come one day and it cannot be denied as more and more of my friend retired ahead or together with me. This is a certainty and there is no need to hide. Life have to go on even if this fact cannot be denied.  We have to remain useful and positive.

Namaste.

Competing with yourself

Competing with yourself

I met an old friend this evening  and she told me that her husband and her shall be retiring soon . I asked her what is she going to do for her next chapter in life. She told me that she don't know what she want but she will leave it open and decide later.

She told me that her husband have several offers to sit on the board of listed public companies but she is advising against accepting these jobs as the risk exposure is very great and there is no need to take risk anymore especially after retirement.

For her she may pursue some hobby like reading and cooking to pass her time.

But what I really realize is that we are competing against ourself and only want to be useful like when we are working for so many years in our life. Doing nothing is not living and it is so wasteful. Our mind set have been program this way for so many years and it is hard to change. It is really stupid thinking and unless we are doing things that we enjoy , it is not working but enjoying.
You have to get yourself right on there matters and not foolishly following your silly mindset about life.

There are people saying like retiring is like waiting to die but working foolishly is also waiting to die in a harder way.
So it is really something personal. What do you want in life? What do you really want to do? Don't follow what people are doing or going to do ? What makes you happy  ? Don't just compete with yourself or use other people's standard to measure or judge your own, There is no standard way and don't make yourself to  believe there is only one and the only way.

Most of our achievements are targets set by ourselves using other people's standard and achievements and we make ourself to compete against ourself to achieve these standards. This is a meaningless way of competing against ourselves.

Wake up and be aware of this wasteful thoughts and really seek your true needs and no illusions before time runs out.

My trip to KL

My tired eyes

The night before I was not sleeping well with my wife squeeze into a single bed in a hotel room. We were in KL attending a open house luncheon. What can I say , yes driving all the way for this purpose. I is an obligation we have to discharge. That was for the family.

It was nice to see my nieces who have came back for the university break while my daughter and others were on their holiday breaks.  Time really flies and they have completed their second year in university in UK.

After my arrival on Friday, , it was shopping at KLCC and after the luncheon , it was shopping at mid valley. The break was die the open house luncheon. At the luncheon, I met a couple of friends and we have a very good chat about food, holidays and property investments.

Alan Watt - a teacher & philosopher

Alan Wilson Watts (6 January 1915 – 16 November 1973) was a British-born philosopher, writer, and speaker, best known as an interpreter and populariser of Eastern philosophy for a Western audience. Born in Chislehurst, he moved to the United States in 1938 and began Zen training in New York. Pursuing a career, he attended Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, where he received a master’s degree in theology. Watts became an Episcopal priest then left the ministry in 1950 and moved to California, where he joined the faculty of the American Academy of Asian Studies.
Watts gained a large following in the San Francisco Bay Area while working as a volunteer programmer at KPFA, a Pacifica Radio station in Berkeley. Watts wrote more than 25 books and articles on subjects important to Eastern and Western religion, introducing the then-burgeoning youth culture to The Way of Zen (1957), one of the first bestselling books on Buddhism. In Psychotherapy East and West (1961), Watts proposed that Buddhism could be thought of as a form of psychotherapy and not a religion. He also explored human consciousness, in the essay “The New Alchemy” (1958), and in the book The Joyous Cosmology (1962).
Towards the end of his life, he divided his time between a houseboat in Sausalito and a cabin on Mount Tamalpais. His legacy has been kept alive by his son, Mark Watts, and many of his recorded talks and lectures are available on the Internet. According to the critic Erik Davis, his “writings and recorded talks still shimmer with a profound and galvanizing lucidity.”

Home sweet Home, my Love

My daughter M was back to Penang from Lang for a 6 days holiday and last night I pick her up at the airport. She look healthy, slim and fantastic but she wants to catch up with the Penang food.  I told her to control herself and she seems illusional.  Yeah, she is away for two months and she longs for the Penang food. I can understand.

It was raining last night and I really missed her and was delighted to see her carrying her bag out of the airport.  She has changed much as I think she have given out her lazy life in the past . Just sleeping, eating and watching movies.  I sensed a change in her thinking and mannerism. Yes, time and experience changed people and she really long for her home.

When She arrvied home, her dogs were after her jumping high for her and she knows that they really missed her.  I could sense the excitement of the dogs and their high pitch screaming.  Haiyooo, so sharp.

Before we reached home, we went to a food court and my wife ordered a lot of fried and grilled fish which they loved very much.  I just joining them to enjoy the food.

I was very pleased that she came back on a holiday and before she came back I was there two times to visit her and she was really touched by our presence.  For me,  I will be going to see her there if she returns to her work.  Now , she is at a cross road and there is a few options for her to choose.  One is to work and another is to continue her tertiary education while the next is to start her own business.  I left it to her to choose but life is not about degrees and academic achievements , I would want her to be happy doing whatever her passion calls for her.

Life is a passing tide and we have to move on with it.  We should expect changes and challenges and treat it as part of our journey through life and while we are at it , we should enjoy the process. I justed wanted her to have that joy.

Today, she posted a wisdom in her FB:

If we die, we will not know about it but the people around us will be affected.  The same thing if we act stupid.

Yeah, I think it is very true.

Lunch at Ishin, Prai , Penang

I have a lunch with a friend who have been a great help to my trading business. He has volunteered to help me without any fees or charges and he did it at his own goodwill.  He was quite down when I saw him and I asked him what have happen.

He told me that his brother in law just passed away recently in Japan and he has to go back to participate in the funeral.  Including the travel , it took him 2 1/2 days until the whole funeral was over.  During the wake, for the 2  1/2 days, he and his family have to stand to receive all the guest to the funeral and he told me that on the first day , it was about 300 people, on the second day was about 250 people and the last day, it was about another 300 people .  For each person, he has to stand and bow two times and within  the 2 1/2 days , he as bowed 1700 times  and by then, he could not walk properly after the funeral.  The bow for a Japanese is very low and proper.   The impact is that he cannot play golf for one  month and his body was aching over.

He told me that he would not like to go back to Japan as most of his friends have either died or their only topic is medicine, practice and health.  There is no golf or mahjong in Japan which unlike here, there is so much enjoyments. Nevertheless, one common past time is drinking and drinking heavy.

For this matter, he was very frank and he has fond memories in Penang which he can recovered.  During the early seventies, he was  involved in setting up a factory with a few old friends and at one time, they requested for two message girls from Ipoh and they would be one massager to three person. However, one of the massage girl did not turn up and it was only one massage girl for six man. It was quite a rediculous situation at that time.

My friend have become a permanent resident and I would like to ask him to stay and do a few years of good job in Malayisa before he officially retire. But, I don't think he can retire because he don't have his mahjung kaki anymore.

Wish him best of health, wealth and luck.

A cuppa on a Sunday morning

A cuppa at Bibis at kerawai road , Penang

I met a friend S there for a drink while she is coming for an early lunch at the cafe. I arrived just on time but she was late for 15 minutes.

I have to Bibiss for a few times but she is only the second time. We have also cancelled our appointment at the Cafe due to our heavy work schedules.

It is a very small cafe and it was full when I step in and I managed to squeeze in a seat at the long table. Later, I could get a space for two on the long table.

I ordered a coffee latte while she ordered a Long Island coffee and a bread toast. The advantage of this place is that it is facing the new Gurney Paragon and there is a church behind the cafe. There was a.christian crowd on a Sunday after church service.

I want to open.a cafe like this after my retirement and spent my time lazying around drinking coffee or tea and enjoy the different types of bread and cakes or pasta.
But , it will depend a lot on my daughter who will be running and managing the place.

The coffee was quite good and the food taste acceptable bit it is a bit pricey at RM15 person for lunch. It  will be experience for all of you to enjoy the food and drinks there.
