That's what friends are for...

That 'a what friends are for....

I heard this song a few times for the past few days and it has climb to top 10 of American top 40 hits. It was a favorite song many years ago, a duet from Diana Warwick and friends. It was a catchy tune and with very good lyrics.

It brings back memories as I enjoyed the son afresh. The lyrics tells us to keep shining , keep smiling and that is what friends are for. Knowing that we can count on each other in happy days or sad days. In sunshine or in raining days. Yes. If we have strong foundation in our friendship.  That is what happens.

However, for.a lot of friendship , there is always a need to bind them together. It can be greed, money , sex ,etc. there is a mutual need of using each other for a better life and benefits. . It it is a win win situation, the relationship will last longer. But if it benefits only one at the expense of another, then the relationship will collapse.

There is a  very rare case of a pure relationship. A total sacrifice or a expect nothing relationship. A friendship that can last a life time. Even Romeo and Juliet come together in a relationship out of love. In this case , it is possession of each other. There is a need for love.

I would like to advise that if we cannot help a person or persons , please don't hurt them. This wise saying from the holy Dalai Lama is very true. So, don't be.a great pretender.

  Lyrics of the song:

And I never thought I'd feel this way
And as far as I'm concerned
I'm glad I got the chance to say
That I do believe, I love you

And if I should ever go away
Well, then close your eyes and try
To feel the way we do today
And then if you can remember

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Well, you came in loving me
And now there's so much more I see
And so by the way
I thank you

Oh and then for the times when we're apart
Well, then close your eyes and know
The words are coming from my heart
And then if you can remember

Keep smiling and keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
In good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
That's what friends are for
For good times and bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Keep smiling, keep shining
Knowing you can always count on me, for sure
'Cause I tell you, that's what friends are for
Whoa, good times and the bad times
I'll be on your side forever more
That's what friends are for

Namaste.
