My holiday trip to Krabi , Thailand.

My holiday started badly as I was caught in a massive jam at the Thai immigration check point when my tour bus reach there. It was like a war zone with the  Malaysian visitors lining up in multi queues to one check point.  It was a matter of  survival of the strongest. It was a tug and pushing game to get close to the counter. The smell of human sweat fills the air and the foul armpit smell could floor you. I was one of the mad guy there struggling to get close to the counter.

Before this check point, I ease myself first at the Malaysian immigration’s toilet and I think I could have died from suffocation as I could not breath at all. Otherwise, I could faint instantly from the bad smell. What a shame ? How can a beautiful country like Malaysia  be shamed by the bad management of public toilets. Where are the DS in-charge of the Toilet Ministry? Silly ass holes.

The only thing fortunate is the cool weather which moderate the bad impact on our health. After the Thai immigration , it was smooth sailing all the way to the our hotel in Krabi. We start our journey at 5am and we reach Krabi at 7pm , a 14 hours journey. After taking dinner , we are too tired to do anything except to retire in our 5 star hotel, the Krabi Thai Village Hotel. Before we get to our rooms, the mama-san in-charge of the lobby gave us a long lecture of the dos’ and the don’ts. We wonder how she can manage if there are many tour groups arriving in a day? Very tired leh.

The next day, we set off on a 4 island tour at 10 am after breakfast.  It was raining and the sea was rough.  The speed boat toss and turn as we approach the small islands. The first island was full of caves and one of the cave house a deity which guards “ the dicks of various sizes”.  Big , small, fat , thin , long or short.  All sizes and the visitors brings along their own wood carvings of the dick to leave it there for blessing. On the sideline, there was some foreigners practicing their mountain climbing along the beach and it was quiet interesting to note that it was a really tough challenge. You have to have strong grips , legs and a light body weight , otherwise, you will fall badly … really badly if you loose your grips. It was raining and we could not do much and we leave the island when the rain slowdown.  We move to another island nearby and we endure the toss and turn again and we are thrown off our seats in the rough sea.  When we reach the island,  the tour operator stop the boat for swimming and scuba diving.  The water was blur and choky. After a few minutes, we land on the beach for a simple lunch. At this point, we decide to skip the remaining two islands and went back to our hotel to clean up and go shopping instead.

In Krabi, there is a long beautiful row of shops lining along the beach and it was a nice sight especially at night. Most of the shops is selling the same items but the decoration was so nicely done and it gave a relax feeling. Yeah, thinking about it, there are so many beautiful and tastefully done hotels and motels lining the roads leading to the sea side.  It must be peaceful and romantic for young couples to strolling along the roads and the sea side.

After that, we move on to lunch and then more shopping . Yeah, we practically shop until we drop. The stretch of shops was so long and we had dinner at  a remote Thai village and because of the language problem, we landed with a fat bill of RM1000 for the dinner. We did not asked for prawns in the glass noodles but instead it came with big Tiger prawns with glass noodles.  The food was so-so but the fat bill kill all our appetite. So what, we just eat and eat and eat.  My  bad cholesterol will be killing me soon.

The next day, most of us opted to take part in the ATV motoring in the jungle and swamps while the less active old/young folks rested in the hut to wait for us.  I was one of the participants and it was really a wonderful experience , renewing my motor cycling days when I was young.  The feeling began to came back alive and I was feeling young again. I completed the track at my pace.  Slow and steady win the race but  I ended in the last slot.  So what ?  I had my fun.

After the game, we went to search for a lunch in another part of the town and more shopping follows until night fall and we went back to our hotel after dinner at the beach.  My daughter ordered a drink called “ Sex on the beach”.  Nothing spectacular, it is just fruit punch filled with alcohol.  That ends the day and tomorrow , we will leave for Penang.

Yet, after a simple breakfast, we left for Penang at 10 am. The travel was smooth from Krabi to the Thai immigration and it was surprising that the queue was not long and it was quite orderly.  We pass through the Thai and Malaysian immigration quite smoothly and we were on our way home.  We stop at a rest area in Gurun and there was intermitten jams at traffic lights and junctions on the way back . We reach Penang 11.30 pm. Another 13.5 hours of travel.

All in all, a four days trip , ended with two full days of traveling and two days of mainly shopping. We could have chosen Bangkok or Singapore  for shopping instead of Krabi. It was abit uncomfortable but there is a little bit of satisfaction because of the break.  During the long trip on the road, we were able to catch up with our sleep but it could have been better.

Namaste.
