Doing the same thing and expecting a different result ....

This is madness. This is the words of Albert Einstein, the great physicist. He was the person who formulated the law of gravity. When an apple is ripe, it should fall but why should it float?  This true if the world is flat but the world is round.. Then, it should fly to the sky.  Yes, this is because the law of gravity. If you must, please try to understand his theory.

The real issue here is we habitually run around in the same behaviour within our comfort zone and hoping the result will be different. Yes, we hope that luck will shine our way and drop something from the sky. Everyday, we sleep, wake up, eat and go to work and rest after work and we run through this routine day in and day out and expect to better off in our knowledge, wisdom, health and wealth. How can it be?

I remember a book which I read a few years ago, it is called " Who moved my cheese?" . This book illustrate the different behaviour of two mice living in the same house. Initially, there was plenty of cheese in the kitchen and both of them have no worries and they were well fed every time when they are hungry because they know where the cheese have been kept.  One day, both mice found that the cheese is getting less and less. But, they were able to survive until one day, there were no more cheese and both of them were hungry and weak. Mice A told  mice B  that they will need to search for food but mice B  says that he will stick around and wait for the food. So, off goes mice A searching for food.
Mice B is hopeful for the food to come and everyday, he went to the same spot to hope for food and mice A have to go on an empty stomach to look for food. Finally, mice A located some food and he went back to mice B to inform him. But, mice B refused to change his routine as he will have to travel a distance to get food. It is easier to wait for the food in the same spot. Finally, mice B die of hunger.

The mentality of mice B is following the philosophy of doing the same thing or carrying out the same routine and hope the result will be different. Isn't this madness? We have to look at our self to see that we are not caught in the circle of complacency.  If we do not improve our self, how can we be smarter or if we do not take risk, where can we get higher profits or returns. We have to do something different , so our life can be different. Change our thinking, we can our life. Change our diet, we shall become a healthier person and search for knowledge and we shall become smarter and wiser.

If we constantly break from our routine, life will be more challenging, entertaining and enjoying. Believe me, you can do it. Just take a different step from your routine and your world will be wider and fuller.

Namaste.
