The dying

It is such a pityful state when a person is dying of cancer in a hospital and is fed morphine every 4 hours to avoid the pain as the cancer cells eat into the bones and muscles.  For those with stomach cancer, no a single drop of water or food can be fed throgh the mouth.

Everyday, we could see the patient or the dying person fade or waste away and yet nothing can be done. The hope is only for a miracle from GOD or our creator and it is through praying. Be it Jesus for Goddess of Mercy or Budda.  This is the only hope.

There are stories of people cured by prayer even at the last stage. It is only a hope as the oncologist will tell you this is the end and you have to prepare for the ending. There is no escape.

Many a times, the people close to the dying blame themselves for not doing the best or could have done certain treatment earlier or could have spend more time with the dying. The doctor keep telling the people close to the dying whether the extension of the sick person's life for a few days or one week is better or let the dying go peacefully.  The extension of a few days could caused so much pain and suffering to the patient and could it be worth it.  Is this what we consider the best for the dying ? If it is a foregone conclusion, it is better to face the fact and let the dying go on to their next journey.

In this case, the prayer is for the dying to live longer or to go peacefully ? Won't it be better to leave to Nature to decide for the dying. If nature wants him or her to stay longer, then let it be . So, why need to disturb nature if it is a foregone conclusion.

For the doctor will advise to make the patient as comfortable as possible and let nature decide the timing of the death. Even if there is a miracle or not . We should not interfere with nature. However, some people think that we have to find a cure until the last moment.  Is this for their selfish need ? Or for these people to feel good ?

Another thing is the feeling of not spending enough time for the dying ? Why wait until the dying days to fulfill such passion. In normal time, we should do what is best , that is to spend more time with the people close to us and not to wait for the last moment to spend the time. Isn't it nonsensical ?
Such kind of feeling is disturbing and  full of confusion.

Namaste.
