Just finished a yoga session in the early part of the evening and as usual, the muscles are etchng and painful. I wonder what is wrong with my body and joints despite over two years of yoga lesson, the discomfort is still there after every session, My yoga teacher, Michelle have been very patient with me as my progress was rather slow, Hey, what do you expect from a man who over 50 , struggling with a job and after so many years of inactivity, Eat, sleep and watching TV until an awaking call which trigger the mind to move the body to exercise/
But, I am not admitting that I am old and age is just a number, My perception of age, change after watching a 60+ old yoga instructor doing her yoga routine, It was an amazing sight, so much power, flexibility and youth in the movement and in each form, She defies gravity and nature in her movements. So,what is age ? No meaning. As I have always profess , it is not how long we live but rather how well we live. So, time flies , so what. We can improve our mind through meditation and preserve our body through Yoga, Yeah, the mind and body thing. Healthy body, youthful mind while a beautiful mind breeds a youthful body,
However, we cannot escape the final moment but we can slow it down and enjoy life abit longer. One of the benefit of yoga is to prepare us for a gradual death, We can have the choice to die healthy after a fruitful and meaningful life right ? Again, this is our choice and we can have this freedom to exercise this choice,
So, folks in transit, Do whatever we want to do in this life as we will never pass this way again,
Namaste.

In the blink of an eye....
I just read my daughter's message in her facebook where she expressed how time flies and in a blink of an eye, her seniors will be graduating and she will missed them all. I felt so moved by how much she has grown up. A few years ago, she was a playful and happy child and not having any worries whatsoever and now, she realized that time flies. Hey, what about me in my fifties and it seem so frightening. Like what the chinese used to say, "almost more than half of my body is already in the coffin". There is no taboo over this life and death subjectas I have mentioned my earlier article , it is a common knowledge that those who live must die, passing through nature into eternity.
I felt the need to advise her as a good father as her friends encourage her to enjoy the happy moments while they are still around. Good advise but I told her that if we want to catch time, it is impossible and I compared it to catch the air with her two hands. This is really an impossible thing, so I advise her to enjoy the beautiful air which she is breathing instead of trying to catch it. The focus is appreciating its freshness, its energizing effect and tap into its sweets and totally emerge into it without the need to describe it. If we describe the goodness of a sight , smell or feeling, it will degrade its importance and impact. Words can never describe the wonders of a beautiful feeling or sight.
So much for now.... need to vanish for awhile until my writing mood is back.
Namaste.

Home- a beautiful song
I came to know this song when it was sang at the American Idol contest and I found that the song was full of soul and blues, The composer of this song was longing for home after he was away from his family. He expressed his feeling of been very tired in distant land and was longing to come home to be with his family and to be back to his roots,
For most young people, it is very difficult to understand this feeling of wanting to go home because they have not experienced enough of life and the urge of adventure and search for financial wealth and materialism is very strong. Well, this is very natural and all of us have have passed through this phase in our life. As we grow old, we will mellow especially after going through lots of disappontment and emptiness and realizing nothing is permanent and are just fleeding things.
In one of the book which I have read, the author said that when you are just 10 years old, your mind have only 10 years of past data and when you are 30, your data file will be three times more and when at 60, you will have 60 years of data file stored in your brain, Our re-action to an external trigger is responded by a similar event in our data file stored in our brain. What we see , heard , read and feel is in this storage system and our biological computer system will retrieve the event spontaniously and chart out a re-action automatically. If we don't like a person, whatever he say or do will make you angry as your system have labelled him as a negatve stimuli and we will just reject whatever good he may want to do or say. Hence, it is very important to unlearn and delete those negative data from our system so that we become more objective in our thoughts and action, To unlearn is very difficult becuase of the layers and layers of data accumulated over the years. Just like our action of eating fast, it is very difficult to slow down. However, we have to try so that we can enjoy each moment of bliss by reacting and feeling the right way.
Buddha changed himself and gain enlightenment. No doubt , this is a very difficult achievement but nothing can stop us from a simplier task that is to make ourselves happy. We can if we want, like I sto many of my friends, nobody can make you happy or sad, it all depends on us. Many great teachers and thinkers have preach on this issue and they have enlighten us on this beautiful breath in us , slow it down and enjoy its sweetness. Open your heart and be positive. Find your purpose and don't go too far because it is there in your heart.
There are alot of external triggers but it is within your power and capability to choose the way to respond or not to respond to it. Believe me, at the end of the day, you have to be you.
Peace in every step we take. Namaste.

To think or not to think
To think or not to think is a dilemma. The mind is so lively and behaves like a monkey mind , jumping from one subject to another , non stop and draining our energy from each switch over and draw us away from our focus and the purpose of the day or from our rest. So, we have to decide and be firm about it,
We tell ourselves do not think and we try to switch off the thoughts but it bounced back with more vigor and resistence. We tell our mind that we are the master and you listen to us and for a while the mind behaves itself but again not for long. Hence, our mind like a little playful child, we need to let it evolves and play while we stay close by to watch and not to re-act. we need to gradually remained undisturbed and remind and tame the mind to play less and to listen more. Listen to the sound between sounds and feel the indepth of each sound , remained undisturbed and advising the mind to relax and focus itself.
Be patient and very patient and do not use force but focus the mind of a single subject and hold the subject as long as possible and not re-acting to it. It is a very difficult exercise and repeating this meditative steps will help to discipline the mind,
I am not an expert in meditation and am just a common layman trying to throw out this struggling thoughts in me, We know what is bad for us and yet we are so attached to it, This piece of writing is written out of a struggling mind after BiL Mike's funeral today, To think or not to think about it, It is all finished now and he has been cremated, I bid him goodbye and rest in peace, But the images and the events of the day continued to play in my mind and provoke my thoughts, After writing this article, I will draw myself into a quiet meditation and will try to watch it re-play and yet not suppressing it or responding to it, I know it will pass and definitely it will pass,
The writing is on the wall that it is a common knowledge that those who live must die , passing through nature into eternity. Amazing grace,,,,,, and peace to each steps you take,

Last nite, I attended the wake of my bil Mike at Nirvana palace in KL and I call it a palace because it was like a 5 star hotel and very exclusive in nature. Mike was in the casket with a window opening for viewing and there he is lying in the wake. He has a christian burial and it was at 8pm that his church members came for the prayer session. We join in to sing a few songs while the pastor says the final prayer. The moment was brief and after that we just mingle around and went off for the nite.

In my mind there was this thought that whatever belief you have, the end is same and whether there is a god to recieve you or you just return to the universe or just vanish ,it is all the same. The end of us, the people in transit, Then, why are we so caught up with what we do in this life and become so attached to our achievements and wanna be a fixer all the time. Rather, we should have a purpose driven life and we have to set the purpose and have a meaningful existence causing no harm to others and ourselves. The Dalai Lama have said if you cannot help others, dont't harm them, Let co-exist in harmony and happiness,
Taking this chance, I would like to thank my friend, siew fong who sent me an article writen by Eckhard Tolle, who is a follwer of the Dalai Lama. I have read a few books written by His Grace and it is really inspiring,
So much for now, need to attend the funeral of BIL Mike. Will share my experience in my next posting,
