Listen - Dream Girls

This song " listen" was sang by Jeniffer Hudson in the film " Dream Girls" and last night, I saw a Filipino girl sang this song in "Glee". Her vocal power was fantastic and full of emotions and feelings. It was so touching. Incredible version of the song by her.

The song tried to convey a message that the person have grown up and have a mind of his or her own. Many at times, we do not notice this fact and keep imposing our ways on these young people. At times, our ignorance, shouting or scolding drown their words or we refuse to listen to them thinking that our way is always right and these young people do not know how to think for themselves. How can a young punk thinks better than us or know better than us? This can never be.  But , we are misguided. There will be a time when these young people want to stand on their own and they know themselves better and they have their own expectations in life.

For the older folks, the notion that they " eat salt more than the rice eaten by these young man"  is a serious hindrance to communication.  How can these young punks think better than the older folks ? This cannot be.  This is an "ego" problem. The faster we do away with this thinking, the more wisdom we can have. Don't let this big fat ego blocking your way to a better you. Open your heart and listen to these young people. Guide them if they are wrong.

Another wrong notion is that communication is about talking, The more talking we do , the better we communicator, This thinking is wrong. An important part of communication is effective listening.  Just open up your heart and ear to listen. If everybody starts talking and nobody i s listening , won't this be a problem ?  If everybody is talking at the same time, how can we communicate  Yes, shut up and listen.. We will be wiser and we will understand more.

Stop imposing your opinion and your thoughts on these young people who is becoming more conscious by the day. I am not accusing or imposing on you what is right or wrong.  We should quiet down and listen and we decide what is right or wrong after listening. Our biggest failure is that we do not listen and want other people to listen to us.  Lets reciprocate and live a more meaningful life.

So, folks.  Lets throw away our ego,  breakdown our wrong notion, throw away of colored lens . Open up you heart and listen.
