"Let go" to reduce our bondage.

There was a story of two monks who was told by their Abbot to bring some food to another Monastry. On  the way through the winding roads in the jungle, they heard someone calling for help.   They look around and finally, they saw a women in the middle of a river, trying to free her leg  as the legs were caught between some rocks.  The elder monk walk into the river and help the women to free herself. After seeing that she has injured her legs, the elder monk offered to carry her ashore.  The younger monk was upset and as they resume their journey to their destination. The younger monk did not say a word to the elder monk despite the latter's attempt to talk to him. It was akward. When they reach the Monastry and infront of other monks, the younger monk questioned the elder monk why he carry the lady from the middle of the river to the river bank. This is against the Buddhist tradition.  The elder monk did not try to explain but he replied that he has forgotten about the whole incident. Period.

The morale of the story is that there are people who carry other people's problem with them and burden themselve unnecessarily while the person concern have treated it lightly and let it go. Do you have such intentions or habits ? If we follow the way of the younger monk, we will be restless  and heavy with other people's problems. Let the burden go if it involves or not involves you. This is like picking up a stick from the ground, it is only heavy if you hold on to it. The longer you hold it, the heavy it will become , so the sooner, you throw it away, the lighter you become and you will be blissful as well.

Don't be the worrisome type and if you see the logic of letting go, you will need to convince yourself that it is good for you. Bad habits dies hard and you will need to unlearn to learn and another way, is through meditation when you see your actions and letting it go without doing anything or use chanting to repeat your vow of letting things go. Nothing is easy and good virtues is always difficult to discard. Persuade yourself that it is best for you to change.

Namaste.
