Death spots - exercise care
Last night , I encountered a narrow miss with a speeding driver. He was dressed in black T-shirts and short black pants and was speeding to the beat the traffic light while I was negotiating across the road after the traffic light. I admitted that I did not see him totally and even my wife and my maid was shocked when a speeding motor bike zoomed passed us. I think it is only seconds he missed my car and he was turning back to look at us as he speed away. I could see his upset and frighten face. We went our way, both shaken and scare. My memory of the morning miss with death still haunt me the whole night. I told myself I have to let go of the incident so that I can get a peaceful night sleep.
Yes, in life, all of us have narrow misses with death or accidents and some of it turns into nasty accidents or even death of our loved ones or people around us. Steve Jobs have a very good philosophy and he said that since we are always living in the shadow of death, there is nothing to loose and we have better to live our life the way we want it and pursue our dreams instead of living another person's life. It is very true and if we take risk, we create new ways and new things for us and others.
Coming back to my experience with death, I have read an article some time ago which talks about death spots along highways and roads. My last night's incident happen on a stretch of road that have many accidents and a few people have die on a spot. The spot is dark and the car drivers or bike riders often want to beat the red light and make illegal U-turns and many of this is a clash of judgements. I also remembered a news article that in Bangkok, one of the hospital stationed an ambulance near an under path where everyday an accident will occur. They even engage the monks to say prayer at the site to pacify the spirits.
In life, there are many chance and doors for us to exit from this world and go into another realm or dimension. If we missed the chance or the exit doors, we will live on until another encounter. For all of you, just be aware at these spots or avoid these spots and for those who needs to go through these spots, exercise care and alertness to protect yourself and for the love ones, who is waiting for you at home.

I almost die today....
It was really frightening and I could have killed myself after I have make an illegal U-turn along a highway. I almost head-on with a big trailer as I turn into a one way road in the reverse direction. I do not know why I did it but it was like an instinct and yet foolish. On my mind, I was focusing on returning to my office for an urgent interview and I totally was controlled by that thought.
It was a sunny day and after that encounter, I could felt that my shadow was out from my body , looking from outside in. It was a very scary feeling. If the driver is not alert or the timing is one or two seconds late, I could be having lunch with Steve Jobs. It is really not joke. The feeling of despair and so useless. Nothing matters more if I am gone. I will missed my family and my sister and they will be crying for me. Why am I so stupid and foolish. A lapse of concentration and an unnecessary rush of urgency.
Life seem so precious after that and It is so lucky to be alive. Yes, what more do I ask ? Giving a chance to live and to be still in the world. I remembered I have encountered death a few times before. Once, it was after a dragon boat practice in Gurney Drive . After the practice, it was very hot and I jumped into the sea but I could reach the shore. I was struggling and kicking to swim ashore. Luckily, I managed to touch the floor bed and I kick myself up and pull myself ashore. The recent encounter was yesterday evening. I was sweating profusely during the evening yoga session. There were twenty over members doing the exercise. The evening air was hot after a long sunny day and I was suffocating during the exercise. My sweating continued to flow as if I am suffering from a heart attack and I was feeling dizzy. Immediately, I stop the exercise and go out of the exercise area for a fresh bout of air. It took me sometime to cool myself down. It was really scary and I was thinking of my body condition. Fortunately, my body condition stabilized after 15 minutes and I was alive !!! Much alive.
These two recent encounters really woke me up and make me feel that life is so fragile. If the creator wants me to go and my time is up, it is not a matter of my body conditions. Even if I am healthy, I still will need to go and there is no choice.
As a message to all my readers, live life as if there is no tomorrow but love life forever.

The passing of a computer icon : Steve Jobs
He was only 56 when he die yesterday after a long battle with cancer. Not long ago, he resigned as the CEO of Apple. He created the Ipod, Ipad and the Iphone and change the life of so many people in the world. He was brilliant and he has come to this world for a purpose and a specific agenda . To improve communication among people. In the old days, he could be worship as GOD and if we go into some remote region, he could still be consider as GOD.
How many of us have this gift ? The answer is everyone of us. Like the Buddha nature, it exist in everyone of us. We come into this world with a purpose and we contribute in big or small way. It does not matter, it makes the world goes round. We are all actors . Some given a big role , some a small role and depends who is watching the movie. The small roles can be become big roles if you zoom into an actor and those big roles will become actors for the small role. The role changes in the movies which we are watching.
The message here is no matter how clever or how important a person is, the end is the same. Money cannot make you live forever and it should not be used to make you live forever. Otherwise, it will defeat the purpose of life. The latest development of cloning stem cells is a very dangerous direction. It makes people living longer and maybe forever but for what purpose. It destroy the nature evolution and make people tied of living. It is not no more dying through natural course but killing or suicide. After dying, you can still be revived by using the cloned spare parts. Human beings will be like machine , been used over and over again. Each human being will be a monster in the making. What the heck is happening to the world ?
I believe that Steve Jobs have exhausted all the means to stay alive and until this final day by using the best medical options. As a Buddhist, he should know that death is a natural cycle in life. May his eternal force rejoined its source and splinter off another bright spark to help human mankind to chart a better future.

What an expensive feeling !
I was invited by my property agent to meet her at Straits Quay . My wife and me went to the site to meet J and she start to explain the location of the property using her Ipad2 and some plans on her hand. It was getting dark as it was after work and there was a lot of mosquito's at the site and we decide to move to a more pleasant place to talk. She suggested Dome at the Straits Quay and off we went in different cars .
When we reach the mall, we walk to the Dome which was located at the central point of the mall. Yes, she was there occupying a table and was waiting for us. Both my wife and myself look at the menu and asked for two cup of hot chocolates while J asked for warm water. It was a normal chat as she continued to explain the location of the property. The property was located on a reclaimed land and from a swampy land it was converted to a prime property by E&O. This is really a good branding exercise. The cost of per sq ft is about RM1000 in certain location in the area. It is very expensive compared to other areas on the Penang Island.
After the meeting, I suggest to pay for the drinks . To my surprise, two cups of hot chocolate cost me RM29. I was shocked as I was prepared to pay about RM15 for two drinks. What happen to the world ? Everything is soaring high. It was beyond my expectation. Anyway, I have to pay fro the drink. The feeling was like been skinned alive. What the .....
At that time, someone familiar came me and I was busy settling the bill. The money seem hard to come out of my pocket. Perhaps, my hand was reluctant. After settling the bill, my friend SF and her daughter have walked off and I have to chase after them. Shy leh . I was desperately struggling to pay when she saw me. After greeting them, I told my wife that I had to get some thing to eat and I suggested that I buy some bread at Four Season. I know the place was a little pricey but it was good the last time.
I walked into the shop and the shelve was empty. Business must be good and the sales girl point to some cake and bread which was sitting lonely on the shelves. I walk to pick up some small chocolate cake and a bread. When I went to the counter to pay, she charged me RM17 for 4 small cake and 1 load of small bread. I almost shout out some four letter words but I was hungry and I bite my tongue and dip into my pocket to pay the bill. I felt like I was severely violated or a feeling been raped. Now, I know the meaning of money is not enough. What is happening to the world?
The cost of living has gone up so much while our income is growing at a slow pace. Hey, I must be prepared as inflation eat into our money and our retirement fund. It is real and we better wake up and manage our finance properly. Otherwise, we will need to work until we die. How to afford to retire? No wonder some people say that retirement means early death. No money better die lah. How true?
The insight from my experience really drive a knife into my brain and wake me up. I just spend RM46 for two drinks, four piece of small cakes and a load of bread. I know the meaning already " eat also die , don"t eat also die". Finally, we die , so we eat lah. I am only kidding about dying but the real message is for all of us to realize the true facts prevailing around us. If we don't change or do something different, don't expect a different result. If yo want to spend more comfortably, we need to work harder and to get more income. Otherwise, instead of Four Season roti, we should eat Indian roti. Anyway, roti is roti whether is Four Season or Three season roti . All roti is the same.
