The way of life

I read an article on Cheewajit from a Thai Newspaper while I was on a TG flight to Bangladesh. The article talk abe out the death of Dr Satis, the founder of Cheewajit. The concept evolves around the wholeness of body and mind . Healthy body promotes healthy mind and heathy mind breeds healthy body.  These two factors inter-dependent very much on each other.

When he talks about the body, it involves proper food, proper rest, good and consistent exercise, abstain from abuses to the body , keep a simple life style and have a compassionate and kind heart and be engaged with people and charity.

On the topic of food,  it should be organic and balance diet with abit of everything from fresh vegetables to fresh meat and fish. Abstain from  processed food  and food tainted with chemicals.

Proper rest entails sleeping soundly and adequately for 8 hours and consistently and regularly. Let the body be set in the rest routine at the regular time. Preferably, we can engaged in healthy activities  like resting at spa, massage of the body and foot or balinese massage.  Any such activities will relax the body and reduce stress and promote rest.  Such healthy activities should be done moderately.

The practice of simple exercise like Tai Chi, Qigong, Yoga and simple walking on a regular basis relieve stress and stimulate a restful body. It relaxes the body and promote  proper rest while exercise all the vital organs and keep them in an active stage. Too strenuous exercise will in turn harm the body  and exercise must be modelled according to the aging body. For example, a man of 60 years old should not run like a 30 years old man.  Take aging gracefully and timely.b

Abstain from abuses to the body refers to  the excess consumption of alcohol , stimulants, drugs and herbs. Refrain from seeking instant relief  and bodily pleasure ie excessive sex , use of pain killers,  anti-biotics , morphine, tongkat ali or viagara, etc. Such chemical and herbs abuse the body and the mind and will unbalance both the body and mind and will become uncontrollable.

Keep a simple life style. Have time for a good and slow meal,  take enough rest from a hard day's work,  have good time management to avoid rush hours and traffic jams, don't over exert your body and mind, have a balance life between work and rest, eat moderately and avoid buffet, read moderately to keep your mind active and avoid gambling, gossips and avoid difficult people and have simple entertainments like reading ,music and dances, etc.

Be God fearing and be compassionate all the time to the unfortunate, the lesser children of GOD and always have a loving heart and spread the message of love. All people are inter-connected and the good for another person will have positive impact on us. Never curse or expect bad things on other people.
'
The above is for the body and now, we have to consider the mind.

The mind is stutle thing. It is there and we do not know exactly where it is locate in the body. Is it in the head or in the heart or somewhere in the chest. It does not matter. It is there. An untame and untrained mind is like a monkey, running around in a banana plantation.  Actively jumping and running around until it is tired. While it is jumping and running , it causes a lot of havoc and trouble to the space around it. The space now is our body.

If we trained our mind, it will promote positive thoughts and vibes which, in turn, will promote a healthy body. There are ways to train the mind  and one of the way is through meditation. Through meditation, the mind becomes more discipline, calm and focus. Instead of switching in and out of a thought for 50,000 times  a day, it can reduce to a few times and it will preserve the energy and harmony of the body. A discipline mind focusing on positive thoughts will bring contentment and joy and ultimate happiness. If the mind is happy, the body will become positive and restful.

With these two combination, it will slow down aging and promote longevity and living in contentment and happiness.  Life is a journey and have a wonderful trip while you are passing through.

Namaste.... A tribute to Dr Satis, a person I don't know but thankful for his percepts and the awareness of Cheewajit.
