Ego is a hidden self pride which drive us in all our dealings with other people. We do not realize its existence but it is there. It comes out in the open when we are hurt by sensitive actions or words. In reality, we are hurt by the actions of another person. Yet , at many instances, we cannot control it or we don’t realized that it is controlling us.
It is something which act strangely and it can be realized through our wisdom or awareness of its power to act for us.
Lately, there are so many instances of hurt egos. When someone talk to us loudly or when a younger or junior person teach or instruct us to do something, we fell hurt and belittled as we should teach them instead.
The Ego will fight back and conflict will erupt and the situation will get messy. Why ? Why do we let the ego to take charge of our actions ? Could it be better ?
Can we just walk away and take charge of our emotions ? Can we think before we talk or take actions ? Most instances, the ego will force us to reply or take actions immediately.
If we paused and stop a little while, the ego will get less and we will be able to control it. The ego is at its strongest point if we act instantly but it will subside very fast if we paused a longer while and be then, we are conscious of its existence and we can over ride it.
There is a very good advise : We should not say anything or do anything when we are angry . After the anger subside, you will be able to think carefully what need to be say or do. When we are angry , the self ego is taking charge. It could strike havoc in our life.
It is very difficult to accept people talking down on us but we have to be aware of our reaction and tell our self not to response instantly. You will see clearly after the rain is gone. Anger will corrupt your mind and make you do wild things.
I have been aware of this ego problem but at times, I still fall into its trap and I regretted it very much. A step backward would see a wider horizon. Believe me, hold back and step back, the problem will get smaller and smaller because your ego is losing the power over you.
Namaste.
