Home alone

I have written an article about a man who live a routine social and working life is a big organization. He is alone most of the time doing his clerical job. He stays alone. Wake up every morning to take the train to work, do his job quietly, eat his lunch and dinner alone and spend his time alone in his apartment and this routine goes on for many years.  He became a part of a routine process.

One day, he died and for many months, nobody notice that he is absent from work until one day, his boss look for him and notice that another staff have been doing his job in his absence.  They went over to his apartment and he found that he has died many months ago.

As the world evolves and the usage of internet expand , there are many people who live alone and communicate through the internet tools and they are a few face to face encounters and many such people will die quietly and alone.

Why do I wrote this article ? It is because this incident happen to one of my staff's auntie who is suffering from cancer and choose to live alone to handle the disease. When she is seriously ill, she managed to call the hospital and the staff have to use fireman to break down the door for the nurse to take her to a hospital to spend the last day of her life.

I have heard of another incident where the neighbours have to called my brother in law's girlfriend to ask her to check on her brother after foul smell came from hsi apartment and when my brother in law climb into the apartment , he could see the rotting dead body .  He told us that he cannot forget the incident for the rest of his life.

Yes, the world is getting isolated through the internet media and relationship is by the way of a touch screen. If we have the money, we can use the private nurse or a private hospital  but for those, who only have enough to live on, this could be a painful end.
