The year of the fire monkey was hot.. I could feel the heat in the afternoon and th sweat running down my neck. It is just hot , hotter, hotest feeling.
The new year session this year was subdued as there was less car on the roads, less people at restaurants and more careful spending. It was only until last night , the volume of traffic on the roads was a bit crowded. Maybe, the people is rushing home in other states. I don't know, it was massive jam towards kek Lok Si.
The mood this year was not seen for many years. In the past , when the time is bad , Penang will remain robust and vibrant but this year, Penang also felt the tiring times.
The stock market is down, the scandals is still prevailing and the judgement from the courts is still confusing and not transparent. People are worried but keep quiet to avoid bring troubles to themselves. The fear culture is bad.
In the news, there was protestors at the CM's open house which have not happen before as this is the line which have been observed for many, many years. This line was broken as the protest really shake up the harmonized mood of the people celebrating the new year.
The fire crackers is less this year but I could see that there is an open selling of the fire crackers. The burning of fire crackers have banned for many years but now, nobody bothers even if you chose to burn it openly.
Well, today is the 4th day of CNY and we are waiting for the 9th day when the Hokkien celebrate their Hokkien new year. Why are there two CNY ? Yes, there was a lot of history behind this story.
Why bother ? One new year or two new year or three , as long as the peopel are happy ? Yes, do whatever makes you happy and that is the purpose in life.
