Last Sunday night, I went with my wife for a steam boat dinner at Tapinlo restuarant . The name of the restuarant is steam boat dinner in cantonese.if we translate it directly. The owner , a recent friend called lena told us that it was actually a " teochew " style fish steam boat.
The recipe for the steam boat is a few variety of vegetables, sausage , pork , fried fish head and yam. There was a lot of yam in the soup and we were told that yam is a common ingredient in the soup.
The restaurant was located next to James Foo , western restaurant and a few walk away from Barista Cafe.
This is the fifth time I have been to the mall and it was quite deserted on a Sunday night. There was a lot of story about the fung shui at the area. It was once a tin smelting mill and it was well know as the Eastern Smelting Company along Dato Kramat. The mall was huge and it incorporates private residents on the upper floor of the mall. One part of the mall have been delayed for opening because of the lack of traffic and business flow to avoid the monthly maintenance charges. Although, all units have been sold out, the mall have been considered a failure to many local people.
One of the reason is that the land have been burned very deeply and heavily during the operation of the smelting mill. The earth have been burned to the core and it has killed all its vegetation and insects along with it. So much so, there is no fertility and hence, there is no fortune.
For a fruitful land, it should have water, vegetation and abundance of insects to show that it has good fortune and make the business grow. But , nothing was done to restore its natural habitite even thought the mall is right in the middle of the town and it has an unaviodable frontage.
For a deep burned land, it will need many years for it to recover its wound and bring life again to the land. So, a steam boat restaurant will only add to more burning and hurting to the land. So, I wish my friend , lena good luck.
Namaste.
