Hakka Mountain Village Balik Pulau ,Penang
I had lunch at the village's restaurant and I learned that about 90% of the Chinese in Balik Pulau belongs to the Hakka clan as they migrate from China. They came to work and buy the land there to stay on and do business.
The Village offers lodging and also facilities for team building and recreations. The village restaurant offers Hakka food and mainly simples dishes which consume at home of a Hakka family. It cost about RM35 per person for a 7 dishes lunch and unlimited supply of rice. It maybe deemed abit expensive but this include a 4 wheel drive from the bottom of the hill to the village which sits on top of a hill and also the return ride back to your car.
I think it is hard work for the owner especially sending people to and flo to the hill top village. The terrain is uneven and roads are very narrow and dangerous. Well, this is a choice he has make for HS business and life.
The Village is about 15 months old and it is really an experience to be there especially once. I encourage those adventurous folks t try it and view of the sea and mountain terrain is breath taking.
Namaste.
