Moderate exercise good for mid aged women - survey

Middle-aged women happier with moderate exercise

Thu Sep 29, 2011 9:33PM EDT

(Reuters) - Middle-aged women encouraged to exercise at moderate intensity were much happier and more likely to continue working out than peers who exercised more intensely, according to a study.

Researchers led by Steriani Elavsky of Penn State University in Pennsylvania recruited 255 women between 40 and 60 years old to do either moderate or vigorous exercise, then followed the volunteers to monitor their reactions.

Overall, women who did moderate exercise were about twice as likely to feel energized and confident they could do more exercise in the future, and more of them also showed decreased feelings of sadness and anxiety than the vigorous-exercise group.

"Exercise makes you feel better but it is going to be more pleasant when performed at moderate intensity as compared to vigorous, especially when you have been previously inactive or may be overweight," Elavsky told Reuters Health.

They were activities "that would allow you to talk in short sentences while you are doing them, but would not allow you to sing," she added.

Middle-aged women are among the least active and their level of physical activity declines with age. Understanding whether exercise of different intensities has different effects on mood and whether these predict overall physical activity in midlife women is an important question to address, Elavsky added.

Elavsky and colleagues at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey studied the 255 women, who were not on hormone therapy and who kept a daily diary of activities and feelings for two weeks. She presented their findings at the North American Menopause Society meeting in Washington D.C.

At the beginning of the study, the women completed two bouts of moderate or vigorous exercise. The vigorous workout involved exercising on a treadmill to the point where they could no longer tolerate the intensity, and moderate exercise involved a 30-minute session, also on a treadmill, at a pace the women selected for themselves but could be considered moderate.

All women also wore an accelerometer, a small device the size of a match box, to track their energy expenditure and their time spent in activities of different intensities.

The study found that moderate intensity exercise caused more women to report later that they were in a better mood and to have greater feelings of energy, psychological wellbeing and "self-efficacy."

Moderate physical activity was also much better in these terms for obese and out of shape women, Elavsky said.

Vigorous exercisers showed smaller benefits to mood, and those who were overweight or had symptoms of illness reported "significant decreases in calmness" after the exercise bouts.

Examples of moderate intensity exercise include brisk walking, ballroom and line dancing, biking on level ground or with few hills, canoeing, general gardening including raking, trimming shrubs, sports such as baseball, softball, volleyball, tennis (doubles) and water aerobics.

Elavsky added she hopes her study will reaffirm to women that exercise can be a powerful way to enhance their wellbeing, and that they don't have to go all out with their level of exertion.

"The effects we observed were large and moderate intensity is sufficient, in fact it is optimal," she said.

"We also hope that clinicians will realize the importance of considering the proper exercise intensity when making recommendations about exercise."

Be ourself.

My daughter , May was unhappy today because some one criticize her for showing off.  Yes,  I know my daughter well. She is a happy go-lucky gal and she poke funs at everyone and sometimes, a bit excessively. This is her way and some people do not like been patronize and could have re-acted negatively.

There was a song  called “ My way” by Frank Sinatra and a song called “ Love me for what I am” by Lobo. The lyrics of my way is to depict that we have to do things our way and we have to take the blunts from people who is not in favor of our way . If we exercise the choice, we should not regret. The choice by other parties may not what we want and why we have to act like them and do it their way.  We have to be our self and decide our fate and destiny. We do not need to be accepted by anybody apart from our self.

In the song “ love me for what I am “ , Lobo tells us that we live according to other people’s fantasy . We make our looks like what other people deem acceptable and we look on our right or on our left  as decided by other people. We live the life of other people instead of our self. Who have we become ? Another people and we cannot be our self.  It is very tiring and meaningless as we are not our self.

Of course, it is very difficult to tell people what we don’t like or say no to their request but  it is better to be frank or we have to suffered in silence. How to convince other  people the way we to our life needs a lot of tact and how we say it. It is actually an art.

I told my daughter , we have to be humble and it is too bad that other people maybe offended by  our actions. It is just too bad.  If they decided to humiliate us or scold us , let it be. We should not be angry or upset because it is our live and we should take charge.

Namaste.

Coffee is good for women - news

Coffee linked with lower depression risk in women

Tue Sep 27, 2011 2:01PM EDT

By Julie Steenhuysen

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Women who drink four cups of coffee a day are 20 percent less likely to become depressed than women who rarely drink coffee, U.S. researchers said on Monday.

Caffeine is the most frequently used central nervous system stimulant in the world, and coffee consumption accounts for about 80 percent of caffeine use.

Drinking coffee offers a boost of energy and a lift in well being, said Alberto Ascherio of Harvard School of Public Health.

"This short-term effect is what drives the consumption of caffeine," said Ascherio, whose study appears in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

"Here we are looking at long-term chronic use of caffeinated coffee," Ascherio said in a telephone interview.

His team studied more than 50,000 women enrolled in a health study of nurses. The women had an average age of 63, and none were depressed when they enrolled in the study.

Ascherio's team measured coffee consumption based on data on the women for 14 years dating back to 1976. They then classified the women according to how much coffee they drank and followed them for an additional 10 years.

"We found that those women who regularly drink four or more cups of coffee a day have 20 percent lower risk of developing depression than those who rarely or never drink coffee," Ascherio said.

The team focused specifically on coffee, but they had similar findings when they looked at overall caffeine consumption, including caffeinated soft drinks and chocolate. They found that women who were in the top fifth of caffeine consumption had a 20 percent lower risk of depression than women in the bottom fifth.

The team built a two-year gap or latency period between when they measured caffeine consumption and their assessment for depression to make sure they were not just capturing women who were too depressed to be regular coffee drinkers.

Ascherio said there have been very few studies that look at the long-term effects of coffee consumption. One smaller study in Finland showed men who drank a lot of coffee were less likely to commit suicide.

And Ascherio's own team has shown that drinking a lot of coffee may be protective against Parkinson's disease in both men and women.

He said it is not yet clear how coffee might protect against depression, but there are some hints.

Animal studies have shown that caffeine protects against certain neurotoxins. And brain receptors that respond to caffeine are concentrated in the basal ganglia, an area that is important for both depression and Parkinson's disease.

Ascherio said low-dose, chronic stimulation of these receptors may make them more efficient.

He stressed that the study does not prove that coffee lowers depression risk -- only that it might be protective against depression in some way.

And many more studies will be needed to show whether coffee can be used to prevent depression, Ascherio said.

The country side of Van Gogh - the famous painter.

Vincent Willem van Gogh ( March 30, 1853 – July 29, 1890) was a Dutch post-Impressionist painter whose work, notable for its rough beauty, emotional honesty, and bold color, had a far-reaching influence on 20th-century art. After years of painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness, he died at the age of 37 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His work was then known to only a handful of people and appreciated by fewer still.

Van Gogh loved art from an early age. He began to draw as a child, and he continued making drawings throughout the years leading to his decision to become an artist. He did not begin painting until his late twenties, completing many of his best-known works during his last two years. In just over a decade, he produced more than 2,000 artworks, consisting of around 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings and sketches. His work included self portraits, landscapes, still lifes of flowers, portraits and paintings of cypresses, wheat fields and sunflowers.

Van Gogh spent his early adulthood working for a firm of art dealers, traveling between The Hague, London and Paris, after which he taught for a time in England. One of his early aspirations was to become a pastor and from 1879 he worked as a missionary in a mining region in Belgium where he began to sketch people from the local community. In 1885, he painted his first major work The Potato Eaters. His palette at the time consisted mainly of somber earth tones and showed no sign of the vivid coloration that distinguished his later work. In March 1886, he moved to Paris and discovered the French Impressionists. Later he moved to the south of France and was taken by the strong sunlight he found there. His work grew brighter in color, and he developed the unique and highly recognizable style which became fully realized during his stay in Arles in 1888.

The extent to which his mental health affected his painting has been a subject of speculation since his death. Despite a widespread tendency to romanticize his ill health, modern critics see an artist deeply frustrated by the inactivity and incoherence brought about by his bouts of illness. According to art critic Robert Hughes, van Gogh's late works show an artist at the height of his ability, completely in control and "longing for concision and grace".[1]

Suicidal S. Koreans plunging into Seoul waterway
Asia | Updated today at 06:18 PM
SEOUL (AFP) - A total of 301 South Koreans tried to kill themselves by jumping into the Han River in Seoul last year and 115 of them succeeded, a lawmaker said, calling for extra precautions.

Kim Choong Joh, a legislator with the opposition Democratic Party, wants the early installation of CCTV systems on major bridges or weight sensors on railings to detect suicide attempts.

Mr Kim, citing data from police and the Seoul rescue agency in a statement seen on Tuesday, said a total of 1,480 people had plunged into the broad Han River, which bisects the capital, between 2006 and last month.

Of these, 522 died, he said, giving figures which indicate a suicide death every four days.

My dream home - a paradise in the sun

Almost heaven : Salt lake in Bolivia - a must see

UYUNI, Bolivia (Reuters) -- On the edge of the world's biggest salt desert, villagers optimistically scrawl "salt for sale" signs on their mud brick homes. In backyards, mountains of the stuff are heaped like year-round snow drifts.

The sparse beauty of Bolivia's Salar di Uyuni is attracting growing numbers of tourists.
But mining salt is no longer the only way to survive in this cold, arid corner of southwestern Bolivia. The Salar de Uyuni is becoming a must-see for adventurous visitors to South America, changing at least some fortunes in the poor village of Colchani.

"There's nothing here apart from salt... Tourists used to arrive and they wouldn't buy anything, so we thought, 'How can we improve things?"' said Fermin Villca, who now sells ashtrays and llama figurines carved from salt stone.

Stretched between distant Andean peaks like a shimmering white carpet, the Salar de Uyuni is home to pink flamingos, 1,000-year-old cacti, rare hummingbirds and hotels built entirely from blocks of salt.
Earlier this year, leading travel publisher Rough Guides listed the Salar as one of its top 25 wonders of the world, alongside far better-known attractions such as the Taj Mahal, Grand Canyon and Great Wall of China.

And word is spreading. At least 60,000 tourists visited the roughly 4,250-square-mile salt flat last year, and local officials say their numbers are steadily rising.

Apart from freezing night temperatures and fierce desert sun, visitors have to brave a grueling journey on unpaved roads to reach the Salar, which lies about 185 miles south of the capital La Paz near the Chilean border.

Some 40,000 years ago, it was part of a lake that covered a large swath of the Andean highlands. The moon-like landscapes of the salt desert are part of what was left when it dried up.

In the nearby town of Uyuni, residents and local officials have ambitious plans for its future as a hub for tourism, which has fast overtaken llama-herding and quinua-farming as the impoverished region's main economic activity.

At the recent start of a road-building scheme to link Uyuni with the city of Potosi, the provincial governor said he wanted Uyuni to be "the world's top tourist city" with the help of the highway and new attractions such as a llama museum.

Even before the road has been paved, some officials have also proposed the construction of a high-speed railway using profits from the region's revitalized silver-mining industry.

But with frequent power cuts, a lack of drinking water and only basic hotels, they admit they have a long way to go.

"There's no center to deal with the garbage. The wind blows and all the garbage ends up back in town," said Martin Calvimontes from the non-governmental organization Inagro, which is trying to promote better practice in tourism.

For tourists who want to stay on the Salar itself, there are several hotels made from salt bricks -- beds, chairs and cocktail bars included.

"People want to test it's really made of salt by licking the walls," said Raul Garcia, a workmen building a new salt hotel, as he crammed coca leaves into mouth. "They're very impressed when they see that it's all made from salt."

The view from the hotel's windows is flat whiteness, fringed by the peaks of mountains on the horizon beneath a bright blue sky. The silence of the Salar is only broken by the occasional tour group speeding by in a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Uyuni tourism director Ovidio Copa expects twice as many tourists to be visiting the Salar within five years as word of its otherworldly beauty gets out.

"The Salar has the ability to captivate people with its silence and tranquility," he said, sitting before the towering cacti of one of the salt flat's islands. "Its intrinsic beauty is the attraction."

Nine Emperor Gods' Festival - starting today

Introduction to the Nine Emperor Gods

The Nine Emperor Gods Jiǔ Huáng Xīng Jūn / Jiǔ Huáng Da Di (九皇星君/九皇大帝) are the nine sons manifested by Father Emperor Zhou Yu Dou Fu Yuan Jun (斗父周御國王天尊) and Mother of the Big Dipper Dou Mu Yuan Jun (斗母元君) who holds the Registrar of Life and Death. The worship of Dou Fu Yuan Jun has declined strongly as proper teachings of Taoism degenerate since being exported out of China. Today, most Nine Emperor God temples do not acknowledge the existence of Dou Fu Yuan Jun. However, Dou Fu Yuan Jun is invoked alongside Dou Mu Yuan Jun in Great Dipper Honouring known as Li Dou (禮斗) ceremonies. According To Priest Long Hua, the 35th Generation Leader of Long Shan Men Taoist Sect (Singapore), honouring the Northern Dipper stars prolongs one's life, eliminate calamities, and absolves sins and past debts of oneself and his family [1].

The term Ye (爺) as in Jiu Huang Ye (九皇爺) loosely translates as "Grandfather", a title worshipers commonly use to bring a more intimate relationship between themselves and the Nine Emperors. The Nine Emperor Gods should not be mixed up with the Wang Ye or Princes of the Ming rebels. Popular folk culture has it that the Nine Emperor Gods are actually sea pirates of the Ming dynasty that plotted to overthrow the Qing dynasty. According to Priest Long Hua, this information is inaccurate and considered derogatory to the actual teachings of Taoism as the Nine Emperor Gods are actually high ranking Star Lords who preside over the movement of planets and coordinate mortal Life and Death issues [2].

The Nine Emperors is formed by the 7 stars of the Big Dipper of the North Ursa Major (visible) and two assistant stars (invisible). When viewed closely, the arrangement of the 7 stars "the Ladle" and the 2 assistant stars on its left and right resembles a Yin-Yang pattern form.
The Nine Emperor Stars are:
  1. Tan Lang Tai Xing Jun (貪狼太星君)1st Star (Visible) Bayer: α UMa
  2. Ju Men Yuan Xing Jun (巨門元星君) 2nd Star (Visible) Bayer: β UMa
  3. Lu Cun Zhen Xing Jun (祿存貞星君) 3rd Star (Visible) Bayer: γ UMa
  4. Wen Qu Niu Xing Jun (文曲紐星君) 4th Star (Visible) Bayer: δ UMa
  5. Lian Zhen Gang Xing Jun (玉廉貞綱星君) 5th Star(Visible) Bayer: ε UMa
  6. Wu Qu Ji Xing Jun (武曲紀星君) 6th Star(Visible) Bayer: ζ UMa
  7. Po Jun Guan Xing Jun (破軍關星君) 7th Star (Visible) Bayer: η UMa
  8. Zuo Fu Da Dao Xing Jun (左輔大道星君) 8th Star (Invisible)
  9. You Bi Da Dao Xing Jun (右弼大道星君) 9th Star (Invisible)

Nine Emperor Gods Festival celebration in popular folk culture

On the eve of the ninth moon, temples of the deities hold a ceremony to invoke and welcome the nine emperors. Since the arrival of the gods are believed to be through the waterways, processions are held from temples to the sea-shore or river to symbolize this belief. Devotees dressed in traditional white, carrying incense and candles, await the arrival of their excellencies.

A carnival-like atmosphere pervades the temple throughout the nine-day festival. During this period of time, the constant tinkling of a prayer bell and chants from the temple priests are heard. Most devotees stay at the temple, eat vegetarian meals and recite continuous chanting of prayer. It is believed that there will be rain throughout the nine days of celebration.

The ninth day of the festival is its climax. A procession which draws scores of devotees send the deities back home

Nine Emperor Gods Festival
The Taoist Nine Emperor Gods Festival or Kow Ong Yah, falls on the 9th day of the 9th moon in the Chinese lunar calendar. The festival is always a wet affair but don't let that be a reason for you to stay away!
It is a major celebration in Penang with devotees observing a strict nine-day vegetarian diet to purify themselves and to fulfill their vows to the Nine Emperors of Mankind (the Emperors are the sons of Thien Hou, the Queen Mother of Heaven).
Vegetarian food stalls with yellow banners line the streets, serving up a creative list of meatless dishes. Some of the stalls are open 24 hours and are a tourist attraction in itself.
The main highlight of the festival are the mediums who go into a deep trance and perform unbelievable feats. These include the mind-boggling act of immersing themselves in hot oil, piercing themselves with sharp, long spears and walking through fire unscathed!
Popular temples for the Nine Emperor devotees are located in Gat Lebuh Macallum (on the island) and Jalan Raja Uda, Butterworth (on the mainland).
Like other Chinese festivals, float processions are a norm. On the last day, a procession starting from the temple grounds to the nearby shore will be held to “send” the deities back to heaven in a boat decorated with gold paper. Amidst the sound of clashing cymbals and thumping drums, the boat is set ablaze as devotees watch it drift into the night.
It is interesting to note that the Hindu festival Navaratri (which celebrates the nine forms of Shakti and female divinity over nine days) also overlaps with this festival.

The best lawyer and insurance Company

This took place in Charlotte North Carolina. A lawyer purchased a
box of very rare and expensive cigars, then insured them against and among other things, fire.

Within a month, having smoked his entire stockpile of these great
cigars, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.

In his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost 'in a
series of small fires.'

The insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason,
that the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion. The lawyer
sued and WON!

>(Stay with me.)

Delivering the ruling, the judge agreed with the insurance company that the claim was frivolous. The judge stated nevertheless, that the lawyer held a policy from the company, in which it had warranted that the cigars were insurable andalso guaranteed that it would insure them against fire, without defining what is considered to be unacceptable 'fire' and was obligated to pay theclaim.

> Rather than endure lengthy and costly appeal process, the insurance
> company accepted the ruling and paid $15,000 to the lawyer for his
> loss of the cigars that perished in the 'fires'.
> NOW FOR THE BEST PART...

After the lawyer cashed the check, the insurance company had
him arrested on 24 counts of ARSON!!! With his own insurance claim
and testimony from the previous case being used against him, the lawyer
was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and
was sentenced to 24 months in jail and a $24,000 fine.

The Pope and the Rabbi ...the contest.

Several centuries ago, the Pope decreed that all the Jews had to convert to
Catholicism or leave Italy. There was a huge outcry from the Jewish
community, so the Pope offered a deal: he'd have a religious debate with the
leader of the Jewish community. If the Jews won, they could stay in Italy;
if the Pope won, they'd have to convert or leave.

The Jewish people met and picked an aged and wise Rabbi to represent them in
the debate. However, as the Rabbi spoke no Italian, and the Pope spoke no
Yiddish, they agreed that it would be a 'silent' debate.

On the chosen day the Pope and Rabbi sat opposite each other.
The Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers.
The Rabbi looked back and raised one finger.

Next, the Pope waved his finger around his head.

The Rabbi pointed to the ground where he sat.
The Pope brought out a communion wafer and a chalice of wine.
The Rabbi pulled out an apple.

With that, the Pope stood up and declared himself beaten and said that the
Rabbi was too clever. The Jews could stay in Italy.

Later the Cardinals met with the Pope and asked him what had happened.
The Pope said "First I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He
responded by holding up a single finger to remind me there is still only one
God common to both our faiths.

Then, I waved my finger around my head to show him that God was all around
us. The Rabbi responded by pointing to the ground to show that God was also
right here with us.

I pulled out the wine and host to show that through the perfect sacrifice
Jesus has atoned for our sins, but the Rabbi pulled out an apple to remind
me of the original sin. He bested me at every move and I could not
continue."

Meanwhile, the Jewish community gathered to ask the Rabbi how he'd won.
"I haven't a clue" said the Rabbi. "First, he told me that we had three days
to get out of Italy, so I gave him the finger.

Then he tells me that the whole country would be cleared of Jews, but I told
him emphatically that we were staying right here."
"And then what?" asked a woman.

"Who knows?" said the Rabbi. "He took out his lunch, so I took out mine."

Aseana Cafe at Straits Quay, Penang (night view )

A wonderful view and a quiet place for chatting

Wonderful setting and a place for lovers and peace seekers.

A place for de-stress and a quiet down.

My third visit to Aseana Café on Saturday

I sat in the same seat facing the sea and staring into the far horizon in the  night.  I could not see much as darkness have descended by then and there are groups of people on the walk way which runs along the marina.  I was with my sister, Chee.

We ordered a ginger drink each and some “goreng pisang” and we sat there titillating on the all the subjects under sky including the talk of the Prime Minister, DS Najib launching the 1 Malaysia programme in front of the Mall and using Aseana Café as a resting place after that. The staff were busy arranging the chairs and making sure that there is ample space for our PM. Well, that is his business while we continue on the comfort chairs and resting our monkey mind.

I am getting more familiar with the place there now. Next door is the Starbuck Café and slightly further down the path way is Papa Rich while most of the shop units either is serving food or drinks. We have the Dome who shared the same owner with the Aseana Café and Irish pub slight down the left side of the café.

Most of the visitors are youngsters who refused to sleep and stretching the day long and also sleeping the day long , the next day. What is the point ? Late into the night and sleep late into the morning. They become creatures of the night. Changing from the night to the day and day to the night. Maybe, like some wise men say : time is only in our mind and the creation of human beings. Time is just time why have the seconds, minutes and hours. As long as we have enough rest , it is not necessary to sleep before 10 pm and wake up the next morning at 6 pm. All these measures are the creation of the Establishment and human beings for their convenience. Otherwise, how shall we arrange to meet each other ? Can I say we meet when the Sun is at its peak ? or when the sun sets ? What about in between ? It would be only  very rough estimates. For this purpose, it has some meanings, otherwise, it is useless. Time is just time and it keeps ticking away.

Well, sitting on the comfort chair and focusing on the distant lights and moving visitors to the Mall to pass the time could be a relaxing thing to do. No hurry , just lay back and wonder. Just like any other fisherman, who sits under the swaying tree by the sea-side and wonder. What is life ? Why are we rushing ? No meaning at all.

Namaste.

Coffee, coffee & coffee ~ news

Two-thirds of Americans perk up with coffee: survey

Two-thirds of Americans drink coffee, and many gulp down their first cup within an hour of awakening, according to a survey released on Thursday.

On average, the 65 percent of Americans who drink coffee each consume an average of 13 cups of coffee per week, and three out of five agreed with the statement "I need a cup of coffee to start my day."

Timed to coincide with "National Coffee Day" next Thursday, September 29, this month's survey of 1,009 Americans, which had a margin of error of 3 percentage points, was commissioned by the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores. The stores will be giving out free coffee that day from 7-11 am.

Among the findings, 28 percent of coffee drinkers had their first cup within 15 minutes of waking up and 68 percent within an hour, 57 percent added sugar or sweetener to their brew, and 54 percent agreed that "coffee makes me feel more like myself."

Alzheimer - 100 simple things to avoid the disease - ext

An excerpt Jean Carper's newest book: "100 Simple Things You Can Do to Prevent Alzheimer's"

UCLA on Alzheimer's Disease - young or old should read
Date: Sun, 31 Jul 2011

Food for Thought

"The idea that Alzheimer's is entirely genetic and unpreventable is perhaps the greatest misconception about the disease," says Gary Small, M.D., director of the UCLA Center on Aging. Researchers now know that Alzheimer's, like heart disease and cancer, develops over decades and can be influenced by lifestyle factors including cholesterol, blood pressure, obesity, depression, education, nutrition, sleep and mental, physical and social activity.

The big news: Mountains of research reveals that simple things you do every day might cut your odds of losing your mind to Alzheimer's.

In search of scientific ways to delay and outlive Alzheimer's and other dementias, I tracked down thousands of studies and interviewed dozens of experts. The results in a new book: 100 Simple Things You Can Do to Prevent Alzheimer's and Age-Related Memory Loss

Here are 10 strategies I found most surprising.

1. Have coffee. In an amazing flip-flop, coffee is the new brain tonic. A large European study showed that drinking three to five cups of coffee a day in midlife cut Alzheimer's risk 65% in late life. University of South Florida researcher Gary Arendash credits caffeine: He says it reduces dementia-causing amyloid in animal brains. Others credit coffee's antioxidants. So drink up, Arendash advises, unless your doctor says you shouldn't.

2. Floss. Oddly, the health of your teeth and gums can help predict dementia. University of Southern California research found that having periodontal disease before age 35 quadrupled the odds of dementia years later. Older people with tooth and gum disease score lower on memory and cognition tests, other studies show. Experts speculate that inflammation in diseased mouths migrates to the brain.

3. Google. Doing an online search can stimulate your aging brain even more than reading a book, says UCLA's Gary Small, who used brain MRIs to prove it. The biggest surprise: Novice Internet surfers, ages 55 to 78, activated key memory and learning centers in the brain after only a week of Web surfing for an hour a day.

4. Grow new brain cells. Impossible, scientists used to say. Now it's believed that thousands of brain cells are born daily. The trick is to keep the newborns alive. What works: aerobic exercise (such as a brisk 30-minute walk every day), strenuous mental activity, eating salmon and other fatty fish, and avoiding obesity, chronic stress, sleep deprivation, heavy drinking and vitamin B deficiency.

5. Drink apple juice. Apple juice can push production of the "memory chemical" acetylcholine; that's the way the popular Alzheimer's drug Aricept works, says Thomas Shea, Ph.D., of the University of Massachusetts. He was surprised that old mice given apple juice did better on learning and memory tests than mice that received water. A dose for humans: 16 ounces, or two to three apples a day.

6. Protect your head. Blows to the head, even mild ones early in life, increase odds of dementia years later. Pro football players have 19 times the typical rate of memory-related diseases. Alzheimer's is four times more common in elderly who suffer a head injury, Columbia University finds. Accidental falls doubled an older person's odds of dementia five years later in another study. Wear seat belts and helmets, fall-proof your house, and don't take risks.

7. Meditate. Brain scans show that people who meditate regularly have less cognitive decline and brain shrinkage - a classic sign of Alzheimer's - as they age. Andrew Newberg of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine says yoga meditation of 12 minutes a day for two months improved blood flow and cognitive functioning in seniors with memory problems.

8. Take D. A "severe deficiency" of vitamin D boosts older Americans' risk of cognitive impairment 394%, an alarming study by England's University of Exeter finds. And most Americans lack vitamin D. Experts recommend a daily dose of 800 IU to 2,000 IU of vitamin D3.

9. Fill your brain. It's called "cognitive reserve." A rich accumulation of life experiences - education, marriage, socializing, a stimulating job, language skills, having a purpose in life, physical activity and mentally demanding leisure activities - makes your brain better able to tolerate plaques and tangles. You can even have significant Alzheimer's pathology and no symptoms of dementia if you have high cognitive reserve, says David Bennett, M.D., of Chicago's Rush University Medical Center.

10. Avoid infection. Astonishing new evidence ties Alzheimer's to cold sores, gastric ulcers, Lyme disease, pneumonia and the flu. Ruth Itzhaki, Ph.D., of the University of Manchester in England estimates the cold-sore herpes simplex virus is incriminated in 60% of Alzheimer's cases. The theory: Infections trigger excessive beta amyloid "gunk" that kills brain cells. Proof is still lacking, but why not avoid common infections and take appropriate vaccines, antibiotics and antiviral agents?

What to Drink for Good Memory

A great way to keep your aging memory sharp and avoid Alzheimer's is to drink the right stuff.

a. Tops: Juice. A glass of any fruit or vegetable juice three times a week slashed Alzheimer's odds 76% in Vanderbilt University research. Especially protective:blueberry, grape and apple juice, say other studies.

b. Tea: Only a cup of black or green tea a week cut rates of cognitive decline in older people by 37%, reports the Alzheimer's Association. Only brewed tea works. Skip bottled tea, which is devoid of antioxidants.

c. Caffeine beverages. Surprisingly, caffeine fights memory loss and Alzheimer's, suggest dozens of studies. Best sources: coffee (one Alzheimer's researcher drinks five cups a day), tea and chocolate. Beware caffeine if you are pregnant, have high blood pressure, insomnia or anxiety.

d. Red wine: If you drink alcohol, a little red wine is most apt to benefit your aging brain. It's high in antioxidants. Limit it to one daily glass for women, two for men. Excessive alcohol, notably binge drinking, brings on Alzheimer's.

e. Two to avoid: Sugary soft drinks, especially those sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. They make lab animals dumb. Water with high copper content also can up your odds of Alzheimer's. Use a water filter that removes excess minerals.

5 Ways to Save Your Kids from Alzheimer's Now

Alzheimer's isn't just a disease that starts in old age. What happens to your child's brain seems to have a dramatic impact on his or her likelihood of Alzheimer's many decades later.

Here are five things you can do now to help save your child from Alzheimer's and memory loss later in life, according to the latest research.

1. Prevent head blows: Insist your child wear a helmet during biking, skating, skiing, baseball, football, hockey, and all contact sports. A major blow as well as tiny repetitive unnoticed concussions can cause damage, leading to memory loss and Alzheimer's years later.

2 Encourage language skills: A teenage girl who is a superior writer is eight times more likely to escape Alzheimer's in late life than a teen with poor linguistic skills. Teaching young children to be fluent in two or more languages makes them less vulnerable to Alzheimer's.

3. Insist your child go to college: Education is a powerful Alzheimer's deterrent . The more years of formal schooling, the lower the odds. Most Alzheimer's prone: teenage drop outs. For each year of education, your risk of dementia drops 11%, says a recent University of Cambridge study.

4. Provide stimulation: Keep your child's brain busy with physical, mental and social activities and novel experiences. All these contribute to a bigger, better functioning brain with more so-called 'cognitive reserve.' High cognitive reserve protects against memory decline and Alzheimer's.

5. Spare the junk food: Lab animals raised on berries, spinach and high omega-3 fish have great memories in old age. Those overfed sugar, especially high fructose in soft drinks, saturated fat and trans fats become overweight and diabetic, with smaller brains and impaired memories as they age.

Be a generous giver - ext

Be a generous giver while you are still living ......
A rich man who onceasked his priest, "Why does everybody call me stingy when everyone knows that when I die I will leave everything I have to thistemple?"

The priest said:
"There once was a pig and a cow. The pig was unpopular and the cow
was loved by all in the village. This puzzled the pig.

The pig said to the cow:
'People speak warmly of your good nature and your helpful attitude. They think you are very generous because each day you give them
milk, butter and cheese. But how about me? I give them everything I have. I give them the famous sausages, bacon and ham i.e. my entire body.
Yet no one likes me. Why is that?'
The priest continued: "Do you know what the cow answered?
The cow said, 'Perhaps it is because I give while I am still living.'

Four Sufferings and Eight Sufferings
Shiku 四苦 and Hakku 八苦

Gautama Buddha believed that all life was suffering, and that suffering was caused by desire. He sought, through meditation, to attain a state known as Nirvana, in which one is free of desire and therefore suffering. Suffering is caused by human weakness -- desire, lust, pride, anger, greed and a host of other foibles. The philosophical foundations of Buddhism proclaim that all worldly phenomena is unsatisfactory, transient and impermanent; there is nothing one can call one's own; the world is an illusion; and our suffering is caused by our clinging to the world of illusion (the world of desire). There are four basic sufferings, to which four more were added in later times:
  1. Birth
  2. Old Age
  3. Illness
  4. Death
  5. Parting from those one loves
  6. Having to meet those one hates
  7. Not being able to have what one desires
  8. Clinging to the five aggregates (sufferings of the mind and body)

5 Fingers prayer - ext.

This is beautiful - and it issurely worth making the 5 finger prayer a part of our lives.

1.Your thumb
is nearest you. So begin your prayers bypraying for those closest to you. They arethe easiest to remember. To pray for ourloved ones is, as C. S. Lewis once said, a'sweet duty.'

2.The next finger
is the pointing finger. Pray for those whoteach, instruct and heal. This includes
teachers, doctors, and ministers. Theyneed support and wisdom in pointing others inthe right direction. Keep them in your prayers.

3. The next finger
is the tallest finger. It reminds us ofour leaders. Pray for the president,
leaders in business and industry, andadministrators. These people shape our
nation and guide public opinion. They need God's guidance.

4. The fourth fingeris our ring finger. Surprising to many is  the fact that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It should remind us to pray for those who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and night. You cannot pray too much for them.

5. And lastly comes our little finger
- the smallest finger of all which is where we should place ourselves in relation to God andothers. As the Bible says, 'The least shall be the greatest among you.' Yourpinkie should remind you to pray for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray for yourself more effectively.

Guardian angels in our life - ext

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.

When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that
Person..

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need
You have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with
Guidance and support,

To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually.

They may seem like a godsend and they are.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,

This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an
End.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.

Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire
Fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has
Come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.

They may teach you something you have never done.

They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy..

Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons,

Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional
Foundation..

Your job is to accept the lesson,

Love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other
Relationships and areas of your life.

It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant. *

Thank you for being a part of my life,

Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime. *[image:

Bill Cosby - the famous actor & comedian - an insight

"I'm 76 and I'm Tired" – by Bill Cosby

I'm 76. Except for brief period in the 50's when I was doing my National Service, I've worked hard since I was 17. Except for some some serious health challenges, I put in 50-hour weeks, and didn't call in sick in nearly 40 years. I made a reasonable salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, it looks as though retirement was a bad idea, and I'm tired. Very tired.

I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honour"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur'an and Shari'a
law tells them to.

I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in Australia, New Zealand, UK, America and Canada, while no one from these countries are allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia or any other Arab country to teach love and tolerance..

I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate.

I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses or stick a needle in their arm while they tried to fight it off?

I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of all parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
I'm really tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

And I'm also tired and fed up with seeing young men and women in their teens and early 20's bedeck them selves in tattoos and face studs, thereby making themselves un-employable and claiming money from the Government.

Yes, I'm tired. But I'm also glad to be 76.. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter and her children.

Age is just a number , is it ?

Life have an expiry date and there is a gradual process of aging. We motivate our self and keep telling us that age is just a number so that we can continue to do the things we have been doing all these years. We look at the old film stars for inspiration and follow them to use all the available cosmetics to look young  and beautiful. But, that is all we can do, we will age. In reality, we will get old. On the surface, we act tough and keep it going.

Why am I sharing this thoughts with all of you? I notice that the pain which I endure after the yoga class, starts to take a longer time to heal.  The pain in the muscles and the joints is sore and painful. People say that this is "syok" pain ( taking a paraphrase from our PM). Not really, how can pain be comfortable. Last Saturday, my yoga teacher asked us to attempt a half split and hold the position to a 10 counts. The enormous pain erupts from the hip and the legs take a long time to adjust back to normal. I start to ask myself, do I really need to follow the routine to that extend? What do I need to prove.  I should be doing Tai Chi or Gigong and it would have been much easier.

Yes, I am trying to prove to my self that age is just a number and I can continue to do the things which I have been doing during my younger days. It is getting tougher but I need to be fit and still continue to climb trees and run 100 metres at 12 seconds. I have been watching the IAA channel during the recent championship and I saw how Usain Bolt run and he picks up speed from the mid span until the finish. It was amazing and I still think  I could do it. Fat hopes.  I have never run that fast at 12 seconds.

This is really a mis-match of my age , body and my mind.  It could spell trouble for me if I overdo it. I explain this to my yoga teacher but she believes in age is  just a number.  My wife have been telling me that we should not take yoga to the extreme but it a slow pace and more relaxing yoga will be fine. Yes, I am seriously thinking about it rather that acting like freaks doing the bridge, crow and the half split. I think if I do the full split, my legs will never come back to its normal position. Do laugh. I know you laughing to your self.  It is true, we have to slow down according to our age and we should not be trying to compete with the young ones. Let them have their days and we  keep our pace.

For good health and gradual aging.

Tantra Yoga - sexual health and well being - Chandi Devi

Sexual Health can be improved naturally through the practices of Tantra Yoga and tantric sex. Besides having a strong body/mind/spirit connection, every loving couple should also enjoy multiple, powerful sexual orgasms, which stimulate and increase the secretion of the pineal and pituitary glands.

Tantric Sex Improves Sexual Health

Tantric sex has a rejuvenating effect, improving men and women's sexual health. Frequent orgasms, as one of the brain wave stimulations, will alter body chemistry. Depression and stress disappear. Women's sexual health is greatly improved. Headaches, menstrual cramps, urinary-tract problems, weak immune function, incontinence, etc. virtually become a thing of the past. In tantric sex, the brain chemistry is affected by empowering the endocrine glands for more hGH, serotonin, DHEA, and testosterone. Scientific and medical studies prove that sexual health improves drastically... stimulating blood circulation, detoxifying the body through the breath, strengthening the cardiovascular, endocrine/immune and nervous functions, leading to improved sexual health, rejuvenation and longevity.

Orgasms Strengthen Immune System

Orgasms that last at least 20 minutes can alleviate depression altogether. Take years off our face as depression is eliminated from our life. Prolong life span, strengthen the immune system and improve overall sexual health by freeing our body and mind through tantric sex. Men can derive great benefits by increasing sexual quantity and sexual quality in a safe, healthy, natural way through tantric sex. Tantric sex focuses on the benefits of prolonging the sex act for more intimacy and health benefits.

Men are most concerned with:

  • Having a soft erection
  • Inability to maintain an erection
  • Low intensity
  • Premature ejaculation
  • Prolonging ejaculation
  • Performance skills
  • Self confidence
  • Satisfying his partner
  • Male sexual health
While men's sexual health concerns are more of a physical nature, women's concerns seem to be a function of their minds. Women want to enjoy sex, but their main problem usually stems from Western based religions or feelings of guilt and shame.

Women's problems with sex generally fall in the following categories:

  • Loss of interest in sex
  • Loss of sensations
  • Painful intercourse
  • Inability to reach orgasm
  • Having weak or mild orgasms
  • Weak internal muscles due to childbirth etc.
  • Sexual health concerns
  • Sexual guilt and shame
  • Inhibitions
  • Fear of intimacy
  • Need to be in control
Loss of interest can arise from being too busy, overworked, having an insensitive lover who doesn't know how to make you happy. The guilt and shame factor is deeply imbedded in our Western culture mainly perpetuated through religion and "osmosis" ...the Western mind-set. In the East, the body and all its functions are considered beautiful and natural.

Frequent Orgasms and Women's Health

Frequent orgasms can benefit women's sexual health tremendously. However, there is a vast difference in having an ordinary orgasm and having a tantric orgasm. Ordinary orgasms, which are the norm, are of short duration, isolated in the sex organs. Tantric sex orgasms involve the full body, mind and spirit, lasting for hours as well.

Benefits of Tantric Orgasm

To obtain the benefits of a tantric orgasm, the shakti, or energy, the rising kundalini, must pierce each of the chakras (vortexes of energy in the subtle body) as it ascends the spinal cord. It must reach the brain's central nervous system and endocrine command center - the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, which commands the changes that benefits our sexual health.

Benefits of Frequent Orgasms

Frequent and powerful orgasms increase the level of the orgasm hormone, oxytocin. The oxytocin level is linked to the personality, passion, social skills and emotional quotient (EQ), all of which affects career, marriage, emotions and social life. Orgasms are very beneficial for sexual health because they empower our pituitary (brain function). We benefit from tantra practices on the physical, spiritual and emotional levels. Hari Om Tat Sat. A letter from an old friend , LA

Last week, I receive a letter from an old friend, LA who told me that his Parkson Disease is getting worse and on top of that there is growth in one of his hands. He have to withdrawal part of his life savings and to get Government funds to carry out his operations. He appeal for my help.

I know him for many years since getting to know him when he was working in Standard Chartered Bank. He took a voluntary Separation Scheme and venture into his own business. He was trying to established his  business but he was unable to sustain as his experience in business was not strong.  I got him some training classes but he faltered and finally, he stopped business and moved to KL with his family. He owned a reasonably decent house and if he keep it until today, it will fetch me more than one million. But, he had exercise his choice to move to KL and sell his house.

I believe he is quite well off when he took the VSS scheme and selling of his house and how he use his fortune, I was not updated and this letter came as a surprise to me. Sometime in the past, I continued to give him some financial assistance.

Parkinson disease is a terrible  sickness and needs a life time of medical care.  The whole body's coordination is out of sync and the patient is shaking all the time and when they talk, they stammer. Some  of the famous personality who have this disease is Micheal J. Fox and Ronald Reagan.  The cause of this disease is not known but it could be a result of depression and drug abuse.

So, dear Folks.  Take care of your mental health and actively train your mind.

My second visit to Aseana Cafe

Last night, I was there again with my sister as my daughter have requested her to visit her working place in  There are Aseana Cafe.  From the name Aseana Cafe, I have the impression that it belongs to a very big group of Companies involving in hotels , restaurants and travelling.  The Dome Cafe is also part of their chain.

When we reach there, the crowd was not so much as the previous night. Our table was the only table and I choose an open air seat facing the Ocean and the bright lights in the far horizon. Actually, it was quite a good place to chat or titillate as the chairs are very comfortable  and it is not very crowded.  My sister ordered a curry chicken rice while I ordered a spaghetti.  I was start having a flu and I feel uncomfortable after eating the dinner.  However, I sit continue to sit and glaze into the far horizon. My SIL, MC told me that her SIL have the habit to sit by the shore and glaze into the far horizon.  It is actually very relaxing and de-stressing as well.

Later, there was a group of young girls of six came in and occupied the seat behind us and I overheard that they need to chat deep ito the night and ordered some drinks and appetizers. Then, more people came in and all have the intention to find a quiet place to chat. There a lots of people at the joint , Papa Rich which serves Malaysian food and Star Bucks next door and we can hardly talk while the food is so-so good.

The setting at Aseana Cafe have a few trees at their open air seats and it will be quiet romantic to seat with your loved ones and chat through the deep into the night. In front of the Cafe is the Marina and there are several beautiful boats lying in the harbor. The previous night, my wife asked me who does these boats belongs to ?  I told her it must belong to some millionaires who loved the sea. Just a general guest and it will be probably right.

I would like to recommend those of you who wants to find a place to chat which is quiet and facing an amazing view/ The food is so-so and it is quiet pricey but the coffee and latte is very good as it is provided across the restaurant by Dome.

Happy hunting and chatting away.

Dinner at Aseana cafe in Straits Quay

To-night, I had dinner with my wife at Aseana Cafe in Straits Quay. There was a lot of people at the Quay and most of them are taking a stroll after dinner.  My wife bought  a pewter at Selangor Pewter and walk to the Cafe , just opposite the shop.  I was there on a mission to check on my daughter , May who is working as a waitress at the Cafe. Part of her training , she told me but each time she came home from work, she have painful legs and would request for a leg message from me the next day. I told her that it must be her weight and she assured me that she is on a diet but maybe, her weight is only coming down very slowly.

Aseana Cafe serves local delicacies and the place was cosy and in good taste.  Well, I ordered a Jawa Mee and my wife ordered a spaghetti Chicken. The taste was quite good but the price is abit pricey. There is a lot of difference in the taste when we eat the same stuff in a restaurant and a coffee shop. My wife told me that if I eat Jawa mee , it cost only a fraction of the price I pay for the same stuff which I chose to eat here. The chair was comfortable and I got my daughter to serve me.  It is the first time in her life to serve her parents and it was a wonderful experience to us. For the past 18 years, we have been serving her. Yeah , you might say that I am pampering her.

I noticed that she has changed a lot and her manners were always good in front of my friends or strangers. A completely two separate personality. One at home and another at her work place.  I believe that she is changing and hopefully, changing for the better.  She is getting wiser and from the message in the FB to her friend, I could sense that I have under estimate her maturity and wisdom and the way she advise her friend was extremely good.  Well, we should never judge a book from its cover. You can be always wrong.

After the dinner, my wife and I got out of the Cafe and feeling satisfied that she will be able to handle her self in the future.  We took a stroll at the Marina and there was more people coming in to the quay and there was a lot of pubs there and people still eating at 10.30 pm.  Late, we took leave from the place and head home.

Girls really gets matured faster than the boys. For each year difference, the girls could get two to three folds faster in maturity than the boys.  For a perfect couple, it is traditionally that the man should be 6 years old than the lady when there get married as their maturity is at the same level because of the age difference.  From my experience and observation,  girls normally ditch their boy friends at the age of 18 to 20 if they are of the same age. The boys remained boys and  girls became ladies. This is the real problem,

So, happily seeing my May growing up and seeing her getting the hard knocks directly from life and I realized she will get stronger and wiser in the coming years.

Namaste.

Be forgiving - life have an expiry date.(ext)

I know that you will have someone in mind, to pass this one along to.
because you are the forgiving one...

*PASS THE BISCUITS*

When I was a kid, my Mum liked to make breakfast food for dinner*
*every now & then & I remember one night in particular when she had*
*made breakfast** **after a long, hard day at work. On that evening*
*so long ago, my Mum placed a plate of eggs, sausage,*
*and extremely burned biscuits in front of my dad. I remember waiting*
*to see if anyone noticed!*
*Yet all my dad did was reach for his biscuit, smile at my Mum*
*and ask me how my day was at school.

I don't remember what I told him that night, but I do remember hearing*
*my Mum apologize to my dad*
*for burning the biscuits. And I'll never forget what he said: *
*"Honey, I love burned biscuits."

Later that night, I went to kiss Daddy good night and I asked him*
*if he really liked his biscuits burned.*
*He wrapped me in his arms and said,*
*"Your momma put in a long hard day at work today and she's real tired.*
*And besides... A burnt biscuit never hurt anyone!"

You know, life is full of imperfect things... And imperfect people.*
*I'm not the best at hardly anything,*
*and I forget birthdays and anniversaries just like everyone else.*
*What I've learned over the years is that learning to accept each others*
*faults and choosing to celebrate*
*each other’s differences, is one of the most important keys*
*to creating a healthy, growing, and lasting relationship.

So...please pass me a biscuit. And yes, the burned one will do just fine!*
*And please pass this along to someone*
*who has enriched your life...I just did!

Life is too short to wake up with regrets... Love the people who treat you
right*
*and forget about the ones who don't.

ENJOY LIFE NOW - IT HAS AN EXPIRATION DATE**![image: []]*

Sit and look see.... lots of wisdom

When I was young, my mother always ask me to window shopping. Just look see. What is the difference between "look" and "see"? It has the same purpose. Getting a visual image. On Sunday on my way to KL, I was precisely doing that "just look see". As I was waiting to board the plane to KL, I was sitting on the bench outside the gate to the plane, waiting for the people to board the plane.  I could see so many different people , the white, the black, the mid east and yellow guys or gals wondering around while waiting to board the plane. The old and the young, the ugly and the beautiful, the married and unmarried couples , hugging and kissing as if nobody is around. Just exaggerating abit.

When I reach KL and at the wedding dinner of my friend's daughter, there were many different people, again the old and young, the beautiful and the not so beautiful ladies  and the bald head man and the drunks at my next table. Each person having their own agenda for the night. Some wants to be drunk , some wants to eat good food, some just want to be entertained while the newly web is waiting for the dinner to end and have their time of their life in their own world.

I sat at the corner of the restaurant and just watch the scenes changes and the different actors or actress playing their role. The world is a stage and everyone is an actor. Yeah, it true. Everyone is inter-connect. If I have not met my friend PH , 12 years ago, I would not be attending his daughter's wedding and I would not be flying to KL on a Sunday and sat besides a group of PH's friend who finished 5 bottles of brandy and they just want to continue drinking and get drunk. The events unfold one scene at a time like a drama or a movie.  The director is called "fate".

At end of the dinner, I just stood up and bid farewell to my friend and I went back to my hotel to sleep. This is also the last scene for the day and the next morning , a new movie will play and different sets of actors and actress will come into my life and act out another daily drama. Yeah, life goes on and the show must go on with or without any one of them as the scenes unfold in my eyes.

This is a life show and it ends when I reach the end of my journey in life.

Namaste.

Lots of prosperity and good fortunes .

Best wishes and properity for all of you - gold and water is the symbol of
 good luck

Traveling to KL for a wedding dinner - lots of insight

My friend, PH send me an invitation to his daughter’s wedding and it was held in Kuala Lumpur on a Sunday night. PH, is a friend and a service provider to my Company and my big boss wants me to attend the dinner to show our appreciation. But, the next day was a Monday ( that is today) and I have to rush back to meet my new expatriate boss in my Division. I timed the trip very tightly.  I will fly in on a Sunday afternoon and will take the first flight back to Penang on the next day.  Yes, use MAS to fly there and use Air Asia to fly back on Monday.

It was a lot of training and a hectic trip because not much rest the night as I have to wake up at 5 am to travel to the LCCT in Sepang. The dinner end at 10.30pm and I took leave to go back to my hotel to sleep early. The food and drinks in my stomach makes me uncomfortable as I try to force my self to sleep. I have lots of dreams that night because of the heavy meal. What the xyz%#^&#@ ? Anyway, very uncomfortable night.

During the trip, I have  learn a number of things for the first time. I did not know that I cannot print the boarding pass for Air Asia’s return flight from KL.  I have to do it in KL. Another thing is that I thought the Air Asia flight is flying from KLIA but no, it  is operating in a LCCT in Sepang which is about 20 minutes away. I must print the boarding pass from the LCCT terminal.  It is the first time, I am flying Air Asia from Sepang. The terminal really impressed me a lot and it was much more busier than KLIA and better organized.  Now , I know why Air Asia is doing so well.

Air Asia is a budget Airline and that is why we have to walk a long way from the low cost terminal  to the plane and it actually is like traveling on a bus without the meal and drinks and the services. But, all the food and drinks is available at the LCCT terminal , that is where they make money from all of us. Good idea ! You pay for what you need and there is no waste. Unlike MAS, they serve the things we don’t  like and yet we have to eat them anyway. What a waste.

Now they are talking about Air Asia swapping shares with MAS and merge the two Airlines. This is dangerous as they will create a monopoly and waste will again come into the picture to make us pay for the things we don’t need. We have to stop the rot from spreading.

But , one thing we have to bear is that the delay on the take off as it is supposedly to be traveling free and easy and a slight delay is acceptable.  If not this, it was a wonderful experience traveling from KL to Penang. Have learn a lot of things a new.

Namaste.
