Last nite I watch a documentary film about Angkor Wat and it really impressed me that the structure could survived the test of time. It was build about a thousand years. A heaven on earth.
It was build on a mangrove swarm floating above water. It is a wonder building a concrete structure floating on water. It was a rock structure with rocks on rocks without any cement.
The documentary show the way the rocks was transported along the water ways by rafts and drag by elephants and use of 500,000 man to build the whole structure over a period of 35 years to prepare for the burial of their King.
The structure have 5 arches rising above the concrete structure and pointing towards the sky. It was build in an astronomic way to lift the spirit of their powerful King into heaven.
It was an amazing feat on how to keep the water level up to support the concrete floating structure during the dry season and not letting the structure sink to the water bed.
Apart from the concrete structure , there was curving on the wall and how the rocks is used to rub against each other to keep a smooth surface and how the rocks was cut to hold each other up.
Many accidents could have happen and many people could have died in the process but the whole project is so meaningful , it keep the spirit of the people up and strongly motivated.
The whole completed structure was one of the 7 wonders in the world.
