What is life ?

I met a Japanese friend on Saturday which I have not seen for the past 25 years and he came around with his family to bid me farewell.  His son and daughter have grown up since leaving Penang 25 years ago.  He told me time flies.

I had tried to meet him two years ago and it was screwed by some mismanagement of his schedule by his staff and that was disappointing. Well, life goes on without perfections.

He has gone old with less hair but he still maintain his youthful look somehow.  He told me that since retirement, everyday is sunday. He can take his time to wake up and he goes to the gym everyday.

I gave him two books written by Robin Sharma as he likes to read books during his working days but he told me that he had stopped reading small letter books due to his fading eye sight.  Yeah, this is normal as we grow old. Our eye sight and our hearing is fading very day.

Well, he talk about his time in Penang and he showed me some photographs taken with me and my wife.  His family knows my wife well as they have taken care of her when she travel to Japan many years ago.

He invited me and my wife to visit Japan if we have time and he will take care of us.  For this offer, I am sure that he is sincere because he has been taking care of me when I was in Japan.

Yeah, time really flies and all our friends will be missing one by one as we aged.  There is no choice as the cycle of life will definitely take its course.

We had a seafood dinner with my family and his family members and we bid him " see you again " instead of goodbye.  Of course, there is a chance that we will meet again.

The power of mantra & chanting

The power of mantra

Last Saturday, it was the most relaxing session in my yoga practice. My teacher refreshed us on the art of breathing. Blending the cold left breath in-take with hot right breath in-take and holding each breath with a four count . Both the in and out breaths.

To my surprise , she also taught the chanting of a mantra.
It was a four  verse and it sang to a simple tune. With proper breathing and the wonderful chanting, it makes me feel light. The body was so relax after the season.

Before departing , I told my teacher that I feel I can fly. She asked me to stop joking. The true fact is flying is just a feeling. If we let go our weight , breath right and focus our mind , we actually can fly but the flying and weightless awareness is only a feeling.

There is a song " I believe  can fly" and  believe is the first step and with the right chanting to relax the body and mind and with the power of right breath ,we will have the power to fly in our mind. Flying is just a feeling.

Candle in the wind

I remembered the song written and sung by Elton John which have a lyric which said that life is like a candle in the wind and we don't know when the wind will come to blow off the candle. Yes, it is true life is fragile and uncertain.

The song was written as a pop song but it was later dedicated to the Princess of Wales , Diana who died in a tragic incident.  The song was sung at her funeral and it was a suiting goodbye.

Life is uncertain but death is certain. So, we have to enjoy our life every moment . It does not mean that the old will die first or earlier than the young .When a big wind blow at night , there are alot of leaves on the ground. There are a mixture of young and old leaves and it is really painted an uncertain picture of life.
For your light reading please think through the lyrics of the song :

"Candle In The Wind"

Goodbye England's rose, may you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself, where lives were torn apart
You called out to our country and you whispered to those in pain
Now you belong to heaven and the stars spell out your name

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before your legend never will

Loveliness we've lost these empty days without your smile
This torch we'll always carry for our nation's golden child
And even know we try the truth brings us to tears
All our words cannot express the joy you brought us through the years

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle
In the wind never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned our long before your legend ever will

Goodbye England's rose may you ever grow in our hearts
You were the grace that placed itself where lives were torn apart
Goodbye England's rose from a country lost without your soul
Who'll miss the wings of your compassion more than you'll ever know

And it seems to me you lived your life like a candle in the wind
Never fading with the sunset when the rain set in
And your footsteps will always fall here along England's greenest hills
Your candle's burned out long before your legend ever will

A correct mind - Lao Tze.

Lao Tze is a very wise teacher and one of his advise is that " if you correct your mind, everything will fall into its place".  It truly means that  the mind controls very thing including our happiness and our well being.

If we have a positive mind, we will be positive and if we have a negative mind, we will be negative , this is as simple as that. Yes, we do not need to complicate matters and put also of assumptions in our path. Tame our mind , we will have inner peace and we can tame our emotions.

Just imagine, when we have a headache , our whole body will be in pain and sick. If we take a panadol to cure the headache, we will be well and happy again.  This is also the effect of drugs and it just numb the brain and its thoughts and we will be floating , flying and in nirvana. However, drugs is bad for our well being and is illegal.

It is better to train and tame our brain through meditation and discipline rather than choose a simple way out. Just start with a simple exercise to focus our thoughts . Discipline ourself to do it regularly and make it a part of us. It is our life style and it is within our control and it is our choice.

The problem with people is that they lack discipline and want an easy way out. Not doing anything but expecting something to happen is a rediculours expectation.  There is a saying that " if we do the things the same way regularly , the result will get better " in this case. Hence, start at your own pace and be satisfied with the small progress until you can gradually grap control of our mind.

Never rush the practice and take your pace so that it will not bore you out or hurt your mind.  For some, the result can be fast and for some people, the result can be slow. Never compare against another person but to keep your pace.

Eventually, you will attain the greatness and start to enjoy the fruits of your hard work.  Believe me, it is a matter of practice and train your mind to be your servant.  They can be trained.

Life is good - extract

"If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place"
Lao Tzu

If you’re like most of us, you’re seeking real happiness. We all have
moments of temporary happiness - like when something nice happens to
us, or we get that thing we’ve been wanting, or we succeed in a venture.
But what about real, lasting happiness that is not dependent on
external factors?

What IS real happiness, anyway?

Defining happiness is not easy. It’s personal, and if we’re asked, it’s hard
to express it. We can say, “I’m happy” or “I’m not happy” but how does one
measure or speak of happiness?

Psychologist Ed Diener, author of Happiness: Unlocking the Mysteries of
Psychological Wealth, describes “subjective well-being” (happiness) as
a combination of life satisfaction and on a day-to-day basis, having more
positive emotions than negative emotions.

Researcher Martin Seligman, author of Authentic Happiness, defines
happiness in terms of its components:

* Pleasure: the good feelings
* Engagement: being engaged in life - having stability (usually referring

to financial), good friends, loving family, hobbies and interests
* Meaning: our sense of purpose, and using our talents and strengths to

fulfill our purpose

Happiness can be momentary or it can be long-term, as in “I’ve lived a
happy life.” It may surprise you - or not - that a happy life has nothing to
do with the terrible day you had yesterday or the fear you feel today. It’s
an overall baseline happiness. In general, if you’re a happy person, the
good outweighs the bad.

Happiness is not feeling great all the time. Feeling good is a byproduct of
engagement and meaning.

Happiness is not wealth or success. These can be temporary. It’s the rare
person whose lifestyle and stress level doesn’t rise along with their
income and success. The only exception to the “money doesn’t buy
happiness” rule is when you spend that money on experiences with other
people.

Happiness is not the absence of pain; although we often mask pain with
alcohol, sex, drugs, entertainment, escaping on exotic vacations and
extreme sports. But are we “happy” in the absence of pain? Not
necessarily. Sometimes, we’re not in pain but we’re bored, unfulfilled,
complacent… those aren’t happiness!

Happiness is not something to seek or strive for. It just IS. Or, isn’t.
Your choice.

“If you correct your mind, the rest of your life will fall into place.”
~ Lao Tzu

If you correct your mind, happiness will follow.

So how can you “correct your mind” so that happiness will follow?

Meditate. Meditation physically changes the brain. A Massachusetts
General Hospital study looked at the brain scans of 16 people before and
after they participated in an 8-week course in mindfulness meditation. After
the course, the regions of the brain associated with compassion and
self-awareness grew in size and activity and the parts associated with
stress shrank and exhibited less activity.

To avoid becoming less happy as you get older - to avoid becoming more
rigid, fearful, repetitive negative thought patterns - meditate.

I know, I know, it sounds like meditation is the answer to happiness, right?
Well, it may not be the answer, but it is most definitely the doorway and an
indispensable tool.

Best of all, meditation feels good. The bliss that you get in a state of
very deep meditation is unlike any happiness that we can achieve in the
physical experience on Earth. What better way to start the day? Start the
day off meditating and you start the day off happy. The rest of your day
will flow beautifully.

Your inner bliss can be nurtured and encouraged. It’s about getting in
touch with a simple inner pleasure of doing something you love, enjoying
the moments, keeping your sense of wonder and curiosity, and realizing
that you don’t need external sources to make you happy.

You make you happy.

Whatever your situation, you can change it. Inside you, you can reinterpret.
Shift your perspective. Meditation will help you do this… 40 minutes a day,
every day, to greater and greater happiness.

"Creating the daily habit of deep heartfelt thanks is truly amazing. I used
to do this after meditation and then incorporated it into my shower time.
Now, every single day, and numerous times each day, thoughts of deep
appreciation automatically go through my mind.

I thought of my mother.

One of the night , I dream of my mother. She passed away for more than 15 years ago.  I have not been truthful to her and I was afraid that she will know the truth after she go into another realm.

I have a few regrets.  During her last few years, I have not been with her despite going back to eat dinner and visit her during the weekends. I should have noticed something was wrong with her when she complaint that she is not sleeping well.  I took her to a clinic and the doctor just told me that old people is like that as they often sleep during the day and could sleep at night.  It is not the first time I am disappointed with a GP. They bullshit a lot and only know how to make money by prescribing us their expensive medication and exorbitant consulting fee.

Besides the point, I wonder whether my deceased mother could see what I have done with my life. There is a big secret that I kept to myself which I have not told her.  It is a kind of personal issue.  But, does it matter ? If I told her, maybe it would be better . But , I just leave it as that.

During my life journey, she has been advising me to divest my investments as these investments were breeding on my blood money.  But , it all falls on deaf ears. Why is it so difficult to listen to her ? It was quite disturbing at that time and there were so many considerations. I became a gambler and hoping that my investment will recover itself.  It is actually going down one way , the way to hell. I was bleedding and wounded and I kept holding on and find solace in hiding behind my problems. Things were changing very fast and I indulged in comtemplation and hopefulness. It was actually hopelessness.

Yeah, she looks healthy in my dream and the image of her sitting on the swing infront of her house waiting for me. It was very unfortunate that only after I sold of my investment , then she passed away.  At that time, I was having more time for her but she could not wait to go away forever. I could not unwound the damage and hurts which I have caused to her. However, heaven cannot wait.

Until this day, my heart bleeds when I think of her. She has struggle so much to bring me up but I went through a bad patch and have neglected her in the process.  I do not know whether this is destined or not but this period left me with some regrets.

It has kept huanting me when I dream of her and it will remained a memory forever in my mind.  I want to tell her that " Mum, I love you "and I missed you very much over the years.

A detox test

I went through a health check via a computer programme by holding to a sensor rod for 3 minutes and after that almost instantly, my health result was told to me by a nutritionist .  She was barely 25 years old.  Slim and fit.  I wonder how such computer tools can do such miracle job.

She intenfy 10 areas ie the heart, liver, kidney, stomach, uric, blood pressure , urinary bladder ,etc. She told me four weakness out of 10 which hits the bull's eye.  I cannot believe it and yet, I continued to let her explain who to carry out a detox programme.  She want me not to take medication to relieve these ills because it will be a life time of medication.  By detox at regular intervals, my vital organ would be able to function again.

She took out a package of drinks , packages of herbs , vinegar, apple cedar , etc and told me to have a programme that would last a few days. She told me to check my stool at the end of the programme and you will know what toxic is in my system.  One set cost me RM430 and it needs four sets to clean up my system.  I was not convinced so I took one set to try it out.  I am waiting for a convenient time to do it as my bowels will be loose for the whole day when I finished the programme.

The next day, I was with my friend , I casually mentioned to him and he told me that his pharmacist friend told him that there is already such detox fibres in the market.  If you want to cleanse your kidney or your liver or your heart, there a specific fibres in the market to do it.  It is cheaper and more effective. I felt abit cheated but never the least, I am wiser now.

I found out that exercise or yoga is only helping us to manage our physical body and it has minimum impact on our vital organs. We need some thing to cleanse our body off the toxins which is in our internal body system. I have been trying to use fruit juice as the catalyst but still it is not sufficient.

Now I understand that I need to get rid of the toxins to ensure the juice in my body system keeps functioning and moving to balance my whole body mechanism.

I do not know what the computer tools have done to check the weakness in my body but such computer tools are so advance in the West where we need only to key in the symptoms and the machine will be able to tell us our medical problems.  Now computer is everywhere including medical diagnosis. They becoming GOD.

What are we waiting for?

What are we waiting for?

Life is a routine as a  trend. We sleep, we eat, we work, we enjoy ,we exercise as the days passed. What are we waiting for ?

We study, we graduate, we found a job and get married , start a family and grow old and we die. What are we waiting for in the meantime?

We follow life's routine and follow the way of the establishment and abide the customs and beliefs and in the end what do we get?

We work hard, stay thrifty , gets rich , drive big cars, stay in big house and provide our children with a good job and bright future, what do we get? And what are we waiting for?

Millions and millions of people have gone the same way before us and in the end what do we get. Meanwhile what are we waiting for ?

So what we do? Quit our job. Go traveling , enjoy what we have and get back our freedom. So after that what ? We are at times happy and at times sad going through the routine in our life. Again, what are we waiting for?

Yes, we have to break through this boring thought. Don't wait for things to happen. Cultivate inner peace and enjoy the moments as it comes. Stay in the present and enjoy your inner peace. Be contented and accept that we can not avoid the eventual ending  following the cycle of life.
Death will be the end. Train your mind to accept  it and live well by your own way. Forget about the Establishment and regain your freedom. The freedom to live , speak , eat and doing the things you like. Celebrate LIFE.

Waking up wondering why?

Waking up and asking why?

Have you wake up from a sleep and wondering why you have woke up? The body is a strange mechanism and it don't take orders from us. If only we can tell it to sleep and it will just shut off then this is the best it can do for us.

There are many articles which connect the body and the mind. If you quiet down your mind ,your body will rest completely and your sleep will come. The mind can control your body.

If your mind is disturb, your sleep will be interrupted or your body is stressed and not well , your mind will be disturb.

The past few nights I have this experience of drinking a lot of fluid and my stomach stays full and I can dozed off and wake up with no reasons feeling full.

What should we do?  Yes. Sit up or walk about or do sometime until the feeling of full goes again, don't force yourself to sleep, it will only make you restless and upset. Accept the fact and keep its awareness and try quiet  down your mind. Never force but let the sleep come itself.

The water will find its own level.

" Riding a horse to watch flowers"

A Chinese wisdom.

It is a blur vision of multi colors . We are racing against time while our lives passes through. We. Ould not see what type of flowers or its shape and distinct colors, everything is a mass of blurs. We can stretch life to a 100 and continue to chase for time but we fail to live our lives and admire the beauties in this world while rushing through our journey.

Pause . Stop and come down from the horse and walk on your journey, you find that life is much more than rushing through your journey in life. Take a careful look at things around you and besides you. Talk time to watch and stare at things around you . You will see the beautiful colors in life and the wonderful textures of the flowers.

You will start to appreciate the people around you and you will enjoy third presence more. You will see the people around you growing and changing instead of living in an illusion and always rushing and pushing.

Life is more than that and it is not how long we live but how well we have lived and continued living.

5 ways to remain positive (extract)

IHistory has shown that those with an optimistic outlook on life are the ones who usually find the most success.
For me, changing my negative mental attitude to a positive one resulted in a completely different lifestyle, both personally and professionally. When I changed my mindset and increased my positivity, I went from multiple failed startups and a depressed state to starting a successful app business and being featured in Entrepreneur Magazine.
Here are five tips that have helped me release my negative mentality and become more positive:
Express gratitude. One of the easiest ways to increase your positivity is to express gratitude. Being thankful for what you currently have immediately releases any negativity that you might be holding onto. Gratitude instantly puts you in touch with the feeling of love. Where love resides, fear and all other negative emotions cannot.
The best and most effective way to implement gratitude in your life is to express it every morning. Upon waking up, express 10 things you are grateful for. This list can either be spoken out loud or within the confines of your mind, but they must be detailed and come from your heart. Closing your eyes can further help you feel gratitude.
Be a giver. Many times, negative feelings can be caused by focusing on the perceived negative aspects of your life. You can instantly shift this feeling by giving unconditionally to others.
Share your skills with the people around you. If someone is looking for advice, help them out. Do not hesitate or doubt your value. Even the smallest of gestures or thoughts shared can cause a massive shift in another individual's perspective.
Control your breath. It has been said that those who have the ability to control their breath have the ability to control their life. In many aspects, this statement is very true. Look back to a time when you lost control. What happened to your breathing pattern? In anger, your breath became short and quick. If you control your breath, you can understand and change your negative emotions.
Either in a quiet space or during meditation, practice following your breathing. As you take a breath in (through your nose), feel the air enter your body and go deep into your lungs. As it hits the deepest part of your lungs, feel it slowly leave your body (through your mouth) and release any and all tension.
Visualize success. Tapping into your ability to visualize or imagine can be used as a powerful tool to become more positive. Many of the world's greatest minds, including Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Tiger Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger, have been known to use the power of visualization to attract what they desire throughout life, so why aren't you?
Begin by closing your eyes. Think of a positive event that occurred in your past. In your mind's eye, see the event exactly as it happened. Place yourself within the event and feel the positive emotions as they occurred. When you open your eyes, allow yourself to stay in this positive state. The effects of visualization can be multiplied if meditation is practiced beforehand.
Meditate. Meditation is one of the most effective ways to increase your positivity. The practice of meditation expands awareness within the individual and allows for a clear connection between mind, body and soul. Through meditation, you can learn to release negative emotions that are holding you back and connect with your higher self.
Find a quiet and comfortable place to sit, lie down or do whatever feels right to you. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to relax. While breathing deeply, feel yourself letting go of all the emotions you are holding onto. With each breathe, let go a little more. As you let go, realize everything around you is made of love and allow yourself to live within this love.
If you implement these tactics and practice these techniques, you will be connected to the flow of life and you will find more "luck" than you ever have before.

The art of confrontation

The art of confrontation

This is an art and not a science . When to attack, when to retreat and when to strike.  The most important is how hard is the strike to hit it in and get the optimum impact.

All these steps are different in different circumstances and this the beauty of this art. Just like in the art of Tai Chi.

Each movement  , each posture, each breath  and the speed will determine the strike or retreat of each moment.
The firmness of the step, the movement of the hands guiding the breath,, the depth of each breath and the relaxation of each push and retreat  will provide the optimum impact of this coordinated movement . When people attack, you retreat and you counter attack. When the force is too strong , you have to avoid the force and move away and wait for the right moment to attack. It is not necessary for us to counter each strike . A retreat is also an attack because the attacker missed the mark and used up his or her energy. However, when to exercise these steps varies according to your opponent。 if he is weak, you kill him in one strike and if he is powerful, you have to retreat and wait for the timing to attack or you better run away.

These sequence of action also can be used in the war of words or in a quarrel. If your opponent is your superior , you better judge his mood before raising a point or be aware of his limit and be prepared to hold your balls and run. Apply the wisdom of say nothing and do nothing when you are angry. Just walk away from the situation and let to your anger. Stay well and fight another day.

The speed ,the power of each blow, the depth of each breath and execution of each step needs good judgement to be effective. This will depend on your skill and knowledge to judge.

To know the strength and weakness of your opponent will help you to win the war. A thousand times over.

The fruit's sweetness

I was told by my friend , an old Japanese expatriate living in Penang.  He told me that we should eat the fruits when it is just ripe.  If we eat it too young, it is sour , bitter and coase and if we wait until  it is just ripe, the fruits will be at its best taste and texture will be awsome. However, if we eat it when it is too ripe , it will be too soft and too watery and too sweet.

Everything have its moments to reach its maximum.  For food, action , sex and happiness. There is an optimum moment to enjoy all the wonders in life.

Sometimes , the moment may not come easy  and we have to tolerate adn strike it when it is hot. To make a good sword, the sword must be treated and hammered into shape at the appropriate heat or temperature.

For happiness, it will be the maximum if the right environment  and situation pervail. When there is an achievement , when there is a recognition and when there is a proper stage to provide the optimum effect.

For sex, it is a matter of fore play and when the climax is up, the proper strike will bring it higher to perfection. The feelings will be released and the juice will flow.

So, the right timing , the right action, the right existence will bring out the best effect. The foods' best sweetness.

We have to have the patience  and the wisdom to wait and strike at the best timing.

A small German restaurant ,Penang.

It is not the little wine bar near irrawaddy road but a small german restaurant oppersite the Chinese Chin Woo along Burmah Road, Penang.  You have drive slowly before you can see it.

Last Saturady, I took my wife to this german restuarant  and it was a small restaurant operating like a home cooked place. There was barely six tables and most of it was occupied . It was rainingly heavily outside and there was only a few parking space.

It was warm inside with a simple set up and with the bar and cashier occupying the back portion. Their specialty was pork belly, german sausage , beef soup, chicken and pasta. I ordered two house wine to celebrate my wife's birthday and she ordered beef while I ordered the pork belly.  I also ordered a german sausage and it was tasty and good.

The service was also acceptable but it took awhile for the food to come to our table. Apart from this point was  quite a good dinner and both of us enjoy the food and the drinks.

It is also highly recommended to people who love good home cooked german food.

Lau Ee sharks fin restaurant, Penang .

Last night , I celebrated my wife birthday with my daughter , sister , brother in law and his girlfriend at the Lau Ee restaurant in Air Itam.  I have been there a couple of times in the past and it has got less business now.  The last time , I went there , it was only my table and last night , it was two tables.

We ordered abalone, crab noodles, goose leg noodles , chicken and fried rice  and it cost me more than RM500 . Just the abalone was already RM380. what can I say ? They told me that it was the best mexican abalone. I have test it before and it was real good I must say.

The owner asked me to order sharksfin. I don't mind the price but thinking that the sharks were thrown back into the sea after the fishmen cut off their fins  really turn me off. What a sin it will be if we were to eat sharksfin. Lets avoid it as I remember we sow what we reap.

I brought along the wine and the birthday cake and luckily, they do not charge any service fee.

The Lau Ee sharksfin restaurant have been famous for a while when they operate legally in Georgetown and suddenly, it shifted their place of operation and finally at Hai Keat estate in Air Itam , near to Penang hill.

It was a private house and inside was really green while a big fish pond with Japanese carps and a garden for rabbits. It has the serenity and the wonderful chi for the dinners.

It is highly recommended for your to experience the good atmosphere and the wonderful chi while eating good and tasty food.

It is a messy place.

The messy place

I have live for almost 20 years in my house and the neighborhood is gradually getting crowded with some flats and apartments springing up. The cars are also getting more on the roads especially getting to work and back.

Luckily, the Government widen the roads leading in and out of this township. However , there are only a few parks in the area. There green lungs are very important as this is providing space and fresh air for the area.

However, there is a small park right in front of my house. It was mend to let the residents to exercise and relax but it was left as an open space for a long time. First , it bece a car park as the place got more congested. Then, come an Indian temple . It started small but gradually increase in size. God also took a space from the park and then a fee big cages came and  some people  started to breed dogs and it gets noisy and the neighbors complained  to the council and the change to rearing chicken and started to build  sheds for living . Finally, they erected a pole to pull electricity to the temple and the sheds. Everything gets settled in .

A complain was make to the council that electricity have to supply illegally to the shed. Then , the reply came that the supply was legal and when the people debuted that the shed is illegal , the reply fell silent.

Is it legal to supply electricity to an illegal house ??? LOL and stupid.

5 powerful actions to make a day good -extract

There is no better feeling than walking away from your desk in the evening with a sense of deep satisfaction for a job well done.
In fact, an entire crappy and unproductive day can end strong with just 15 hyper-productive minutes. Here are five ways to help you do just that:

1. Empty your inbox.

Productivity experts will tell you that keeping your inbox empty makes you dramatically more effective. I have found that anempty inbox late in the day gives me a strong sense of accomplishment and order in my life. If I want an empty inbox, it means everything is in a designated spot: either in the trash, in my calendar, or forwarded to someone else.
I go so far as to make sure that hitting the delete button on the last trashable inbox message is my last action, and then I immediately close my laptop (while imaginary victory music plays in my mind) and I walk away. It is an incredible feeling.

2. Determine what will make tomorrow special.

Too often we live with a time-and-effort mentality. “Well, I worked my butt off and it was a long day -- I must have been effective.” Not necessarily so. Some of my most grueling days are my least productive. It is not about time and effort. It is about results. It is about a intentionally significant effort.
Plan out at the end of the day what will make tomorrow truly significant. What one accomplishment will make the entire day worthwhile?

3. Eat a frog.

Mark Twain suggested that if you eat a live frog first thing in the morning, nothing else throughout your day could possibly be so bad. I agree, but the advice also holds true for the last thing you do before you go home.
If you leave a nagging and undesirable task until the next day, you will walk away from your desk with a dark cloud hanging over you and a sense of dread. On the other hand, handle the task before you leave, (get it out of your life) and you will walk away with a feeling of freedom and victory!

4. Do something nice for someone else.

The key here is intentionality. Plan to end your day by doing something specific and beneficial for someone in your life -- a coworker, friend, family member, client, etc. It is impossible to do something nice for someone without feeling better yourself. You get to walk away from work knowing that you made someone else’s life better and you are in a better state of mind.

5. Say thank you.

You have a job. People pay you. Because of this, you can put food on your plate. You live in a great country. You have opportunity, education and hope. Do you realize how rare that makes you in the grand scheme of things?
Take a moment before you shut things down for the day to thank God for your very life. Regardless of what else has happened in a day, ending it with thanks is a rewarding approach. When you go big picture with gratitude, you get a new perspective on the grievances of any given day.
End your day with an exclamation point! End your day like you mean it. End your day on an upbeat. End your day intentionally and with purpose. End your day strong!

Do you know where are we going to ?

Many times, we feel desperate as if we are running in circles and cirlces from the day  we start to realize our existence.  For some people, it may be a  young age and for others, it could be later. If we tell these people before their time, they will laugh at you and they will tell you that they do not know what we are talking about or are we nuts ?

When I was young , my mum told me to listen to her advise , otherwise, I am the one who will lost out. But , her advise always fell on my deaf ear. One of the advise is that we have to be cautious and take no chances. "It is not the one thousand and one risk but one risk in the thousand".  I don't understand her logic and I just laugh it off. But , this advise is very logical.  If we feel very egotic or very confident that the error will not occur with the thousand things we do but when if it error occur, all our effort will be wasted before it can reach the thousand and one.

Such are our awareness. But as age goes by, this words became more and more meaningful.  Many things happen before our eyes and we are aware of the chances of the risk with each experience or each knowledge. Our senses become sharper and our thoughts become wasier.

It is like talking to our servant who have not got much education. The communication just cannot get through if we keep our level of understanding. We should  move ourself to their level and speak to them at the level of understanding. Usually, this is the gap between to people ie each talking at their own level and expecting the other person to understand them.  It is not possible for our servant to move up to our thinking or our knowledge and this is only one way, we have to move down to their level.

We feel frustrate with the people around us and we are angry at imperfections.  Why ? No two people thinks alike and nobody have have the perfect communication with another. Rarely , we can find these people sharing the view about life , work and ideas. If this harmony happens, then these two people will become perfect or very good friends.

It is our ego which is detering us from bring ourself down and where do we go ? We become isolated, frustrated and angry. We shout and curse and blame others , except ourselves and it is our fault in the first place. If we tune our radio channel not perfectly , then there is a lot of white noice and buzzing into our ears and make the words or music coming out of the radio. Again, we are angry with the radio but it is our fault that we have not wind into the right channel.

It is so hypocritical in life. We know where we are going to but is it really  the direction we want.

Namaste.

What are our chances if we are fearful.?

Once I read a story about two rats. They live in a  hole on the wall oppersite to each other and the owner of the house bought a cat one day and let it loose in the house. One day when the rats came out of their hole, they were chased severely by the cat. But , both managed to get back into their hole. There was two choice for them . Either to run out of the house or keep waiting for the cat to ran off. One rat choose to run off while the other rat choose to stay behind.  The rat staying behind is wondering what is the fate of the other rat?  whether he managed to escape the jaws of the cat or is running freely outside. Fear grips him and he kept waiting and postponing his escapee. Finally, he died of starvation. It does not matter whether the other rat survived or not. The end result is that he is dead.

The morale of the story is that if we are fearful, we can only live to die. We just keep postponing our decision because we are fearful of losing , fearful of getting hurt or fearful of our shadows. The fear hold us back and we are suffering so much inside us. Is it worth it ? Not having to live the life we desire. Life without a purpose and driven by fear.

There was another story about a monk meditating in a broken down temple. He closed his eyes to meditate and as he meditate, he hear a sound getting louder and louder. Yes, it is a big rat and as the sound gets louder and louder , the rat gets bigger and bigger. He struggle not open his eyes for the fear that he will meet a rat as big as the tiger. Finally, he open his eyes and saw a small rat.  The fear in him manifest and build the image of a small rat to become a bigger rat. He manufactures the fear inside him.

I hope these two stories really awaken some one who is in this situation of fear. What is there to be fearful. If some thing happen or we are hurt, we should climb up and try again if we still have the chance. It is useless staying and watching the world goes by. It is better to be part of the living and evolving world.

Namaste.

A little bit of madness.

A bit of madness

I think everyone of us have a bit of madness inside us. It is uncontrollable and it took over all our logical senses.o
The decision or judgement is so unreasonable at the particular moment but the firmness hold strong.

At that particular moment it is as solid as the Great Wall of China . Whatever words or sweet talk would not sway. The madness wins it all. So the best thing to do is to let the teeth sinks it and wait for better times

It is so useless to win it over and the more pressure we exert, the more it will bounced back. No point wasting your time as it will be a adverse effect. Just let it go.

On our side, the situation is so rediculous and absurb and it is so unreasonable that we can hold our righteous thoughts back and we hope that we can lift the wool of the eyes. It is so stupid to step back and accept it.

That is when a quarrel remained unabated as we fight fire with fire. The outcome is a bigger fire.

Know when to retreat or to go forward is he skill of a wiseman.

11 anti-aging food ( extract)

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth

1. Eating sweet potatoes has lots of benefits, including keeping your skin firm.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Every time you eat a sweet potato you do your whole body a favor, including your face. “Sweet potato is an incredibly healthy food filled withcarotene (key ingredient for glowing skin), vitamin C and B6, biotin and fiber and a strong antioxidant,” says Stephanie Middleberg, a NewYork based dietitian and founder of Middleberg Nutrition. It’s also a good source of copper, which helps your body produce collagen, making the tubers a cheaper and less painful delivery system than facial injections.
But how you eat your sweet potatoes matters, too: Sweet potato fries are not necessarily a healthier choice than regular ol’ French fries. “It really depends how they are cooked,” says Keri Gans, a New York-based registered dietician and the author of the The Small Change Diet. “If they are deep fried, then don’t be fooled, you’re still eating a French fry.” Try making some baked sweet potato fries instead, so you get the nutrition without the unhealthy fats.

2. The antioxidants in berries can repair your skin and may even keep your brain young.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Anthocyanin, the antioxidant that gives many berries their eye-catching colors, can also protect your skin from UV rays. “Strawberries are also a good source of silica, a vital trace mineral for healthy skin and connective tissue,” says Middleberg.
On top of that, researchers at Tufts University and University of Maryland Baltimore County found that after feeding rats a blueberry and strawberry diet over two months, and then using irradiation to accelerate aging, the rats’ brains had lower levels of toxins in them. “We are hoping [these results] will translate to human studies as well,” said Dr. Barbara Shukitt-Hale, the lead investigator of the study.
Try these Red White and Blue Berry yogurt popsicles for something sweet and healthy (or any of these delicious summer berry desserts if you want to indulge a little more.)

3. Beans help your skin by reducing inflammation and improve your heart health with protein and fiber.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
“Beans, in general, are amazing,” says Gans. They are full of protein, fiber, and B vitamins, all of which do your body good. The protein and fiber are good for your heart health, and the B vitamins, Gans says, reduce inflammation of the skin.
While different kinds of beans have different levels of specific nutrients, Gans says to go ahead and just eat the ones you like. “But,” she says, “I’m not saying eat refried beans,” which can be high in fat. Instead, eat them plain or with your huevos rancheros.

4. Oats are also filled with skin-improving B vitamins.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
“I’m a huge advocate of oatmeal,” says Gans. Oats are packed with a number of important nutrients, including B vitamins, fiber, and protein. Those B vitamins are great for your skin, hair and nails, but they also go deeper to nourish your nervous system. The fiber helps keep your digestive system chugging along, and protein keeps your energy levels up.
But, Gans adds, “I’m not suggesting instant oatmeal that’s flavored with sugar.” Try these superfood packed overnight oats instead.

5. Milk can give you Vitamin D if you aren’t getting it from time in the sun.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Our bodies need Vitamin D, which we usually get from the sun, so that we can absorb calcium and maintain good bone health. Plus, according to a 2007 British study, higher levels of Vitamin D can also improve the health of the DNA in our cells, slowing the aging process and protecting against age-related diseases.
“You really only need ten minutes a day of sun to meet your Vitamin D needs,” says Gans. But for some people, especially in the winter, even that ten minutes may be hard to get. For those cases, Gans recommends milk, since nearly all is fortified with Vitamin D. Some orange juices and non-dairy milks are as well. Just check the nutrition label.

6. Curry powder may prevent the growth of toxic brain cells and prevent Alzheimer’s.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Curry has long been used in India to treat a variety of diseases, including breast cancer, liver disease, and hemorrhoids, but recentresearch shows it might also prevent Alzheimer’s. In 2001, researchers at the University of California Los Angeles found that curcumin, a compound in curry, lowered certain toxins in the brains of Alzheimer-like mice, concluding, “this Indian spice component shows promise for the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.”
Try these easy Roasted Curried Chickpeas, which come with lots of healthy protein and fiber, too.

7. Sardines and anchovies are full of brain-healthy omega-3 fatty acids (and have lower mercury levels and price tags than most salmon).

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Consuming more omega-3’s in your diet can slow the natural deterioration of your brain as you age, according to a January 2014 study.
Look for European anchovies from the Adriatic Sea or Pacific sardines to get the most omega-3’s with the least mercury. (Bonus: The tiny bones in sardines are another good source of Vitamin D.) Scared to try anchovies? Ease yourself in with aGreen Goddess dip.

8. Cocoa may lower your risk of heart disease and prevent diabetes and cancer — but choosing your chocolate carefully is essential.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Not all chocolate is equally healthy, but the right kind can actually improve your health. “Pure cacao,” Middleberg says, “is extremely healthy.” In a study of the Kuna Indians off the coast of Panama, scientists attributed the population’s low risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease (despite their weight and salt consumption) to their high cocoa intake — ten times more than what an American would typically consume.
However, those scientists also drew a distinction between Kuna cocoa — made from dried, ground beans with just a bit of sweetener — and commercial chocolate, which is usually highly processed and has lost much of its healthfulness. “You want to look for varieties [of powder, nibs, or chocolate] that are above 75% cacao,” Middleberg says, “because the more cacao, the less sugar and fillers.”
Eat cocoa nibs straight up if you like the bitterness, or try making these Raw Cocoa, Nut & Berry Truffles.

9. Healthy fats like olive oil and nuts can lower your risk of heart attack, stroke, and death from cardiovascular disease.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Not all fat is bad! Some kinds may even help you live longer. In a five-year study of almost 7,500 participants, Harvard researchers found that people who consumed either an extra liter of extra virgin olive oil every week or an extra ounce of mixed nuts every day had significantly fewer heart attacks, strokes and death than the participants on the low-fat diet. “The reduction was impressive,” wrote Dr. Anthony Komaroff, Editor in Chief of Harvard Health Publications.
Nuts and olive oil are both easy to incorporate into your diet. Cook with olive oil, and snack on raw nuts next time you find yourself reaching for potato chips. However, Middleberg says, “It is still easy to overdo it.” She recommends limiting servings to 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 ounce of nuts, and 1-2 tablespoons of nut butter.

10. Spinach and other green leafy vegetables can boost your energy, make your bones stronger, and protect your eyes.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
It seems like there’s not much spinach can’t do. Those little leaves are full of iron, Vitamin K, and the nutrients lutein and zeaxanthin. The iron will boost your energy and build your muscles, while the Vitamin K will help your bone density and prevent prevent fractures and osteoporosis. The lutein and zeaxanthin allows your retinas to absorb damaging light before it can hurt yourvision, and lower the risk of chronic eye diseases like cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD), according to the American Optometric Association.
Adding spinach to your diet is easy because you can eat it raw or cooked, sautéing it takes about a minute, and you can throw it into dishes where it’s not even listed as an ingredient. To get the full benefits of fat-soluble Vitamin K, be sure to eat it with some fat, like olive oil or cheese, so that your body can absorb it. Try putting it in a quiche like this one.

11. Moderate intake of red wine can improve cardiovascular health, may prevent cancer and even help treat diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

11 Foods That May Be The Fountain Of Youth
Good news for red wine lovers: A glass a night can improve your cardiovascular health. According to studies from the University of California Davis, antioxidants in the red grapes’ skin and seeds can reduce production of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, increase HDL (“good”) cholesterol, and reduce blood clotting. Other studies have found that the antioxidant resveratrol in the grapes’ skins can prevent tumor development, as well as help your body create nerve cells, which may help treat neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Choose drier (less sweet) red wines for the biggest health benefits, say UC Davis researchers. Not a wine drinker? You don’t need to pick up the habit. “If you’re not drinking alcohol, I don’t recommend you start just to get the health effects,” says Middleberg. Eating grapes will give the same benefits, says Gans.

And don’t forget: “There’s more to anti-aging besides foods,” says Gans. “That’s why sleep, exercise, and reducing stress, if at all possible, are important.”
