PREVENTING OSTEOPOROSIS - Study

Like the trunk and branches of a tree that decide its size and shape, your bones give form to your body. They also protect your organs and support your muscles, helping you move around and about. By your late 20s, however, you've reached the peak of your bone mass, which begins to ebb slowly in your 30s as more bone tissue is lost than restored. In time, this could lead to osteoporosis, a condition marked by weak bones caused by a loss of bone mass, as well as by a change in bone structure. About 80 percent of people with osteoporosis are women. However, both men and women older than 50 are at risk for developing osteoporosis. One in two women and one in six men in this age group will fracture a bone because of osteoporosis. Risk factors that increase your chances for developing osteoporosis include: 1. Small bone structure 2. Family history of osteoporosis 3. Previous fracture, especially after age 50 4. Being postmenopausal 5. Anorexia nervosa 6. Cigarette smoking 7. Alcohol abuse 8. Not getting enough calcium and vitamin D 9. Sedentary lifestyle 10. Certain medications, including glucocorticoids, thyroid hormone replacements and epilepsy drugs PREVENTING OSTEOPOROSIS You can take steps to help prevent osteoporosis: 1. Get 1,000 to 1,500 mg of calcium each day. 2. Get 400 to 800 international units of vitamin D each day. 3. Quit smoking. 4. Don't overindulge in alcohol. 5. Talk to a medical professional about medical conditions or medications you take that could put you at risk for osteoporosis. 6. Exercise. EXERCISES TO BUILD YOUR BONES Any weight-bearing activity helps build bones. But weight lifting does the most to prevent osteoporosis over time because it increases your strength and muscle mass, as well as bone density. Doctor recommends that you: 1. Exercise for 30 minutes a day, two to three times a week. Anything less won't work your bones hard enough. But don't overdo it either. 2. Warm up. Do light aerobic exercises and easy stretches for 7 to 10 minutes before your workout to avoid injury. 3. Focus on the hip, spine and lower back. These are the main fracture sites. The leg press, squats and lunges are all good. 4. Do fewer reps at heavier weights. If you can barely do two sets of six to eight reps, you're at the right weight. Doctor suggests 20 to 25 minutes of weight training. 5. Gradually add weights. Determine the highest number of reps you can do or the most weight you can lift. Then shoot for 70 percent to 80 percent of that maximum capability-gradually. 6. Do cardio weight-bearing exercises. To head off osteoporosis, row, bike, hike or dance for at least 7 to 10 minutes of your workout. Double that if you want an aerobic workout. 7. Cool down. Repeat your warm-up routine for about 5 minutes, to shift your body back to relative inactivity.

There is sadness in my heart

In life , there are many regrets.  Things that we should do and failed to do or things that we should not do at all. The repercussion of our actions can be diverse and varied and impact on the lives of others. If we think back, we are filled with remorse or sadness in our heart.

From young , I have been playful and naughty. I have a hobby of keeping  stannps and I will exchange my stamps with my friend who is also having the same hobby. I would always want his stamps which is very rare and I will insist to give him my common stamps . I have bullying  him since young and one day, he complained to his; elder sister and she confronted me and force me to give back all his rare stamps.  It was a painful experience and  I learned from this experience.

Before I got married , I have a girlfriend and she stayed with me for 4 years and initially, she wants to get married and I was the one reluctant to gct hitched annd whhen I was ready to get married, she have already changed her heart. She leave me high and dry.

I went into  business supporting my elder brother and he wanted to bring his wife to help him in the business and I objected strongly and rejected his request.  My brother used my father to talk to me and I agreed finally and in the end, my sister in law was at odds with my friends and finally, he left to do the business by himself.  It was a big disappointment to me.

When my elder brother complained to me that his heart was
very painful , I could have check hm into a private hospital for examination instead of following his decision to wait for an appointment from the Government hospital and if I have make that decision , he should be still around now. This action was another immature act of my life.

When my brother left my business,  I should have shut it down but I keep it going by using another manager to run it and due to my absence a tthe business site , he was actually stole a lot of money from the business. Another mistake of trusting others to make money for us.

I was involved in the stock market  and I trusted my friend too much and investing into his Company shares which is in the end , lost lots of money  and his business collapse when this share price hit bottom. I was about sell the shares but my friend sold it sooner than me.

I have done regretful things or silly things and making the wrong turns in my life. Don't know where I going to but I have learned my lessons

Feeling tired ? Try this recipe.(extract)

Your metabolic rate determines how much energy you bum. In an oblique way, it ultimately determines your body weight so it is a primary concern. Here are some simple and quick fixes to help keep it amped up.

As women age, their metabolic rate slows and they find it harder to lose weight. Men have it easier, as evident in reality television shows like The Biggest Loser.

They have greater muscle mass and a lower body fat percentage that translates to a higher basal metabolic rate (BMR). Generally speaking, BMR is the minimum amount of energy needed for you to function daily.
We are bombarded with temptations on a daily basis that makes losing weight or even maintaining it a tricky business. The sights and smells of a delicious spread can evaporate the most determined resolve within seconds and turn most of us into shameless bingers. The traditional fares that appear during New Year are just the kind of nefarious temptations that threaten to wreck such havoc and derail the most disciplined diets. To improvise for that inevitable binge fest, here are some simple lifestyle adjustments you can make to rev up your metabolic rate.

1. Get your calorie intake right. Yes, we want to avoid too much, but too little can also be detrimental. Eating too little could very well lower your metabolic rate. You need a sufficient amount of calories a day to help burn fat and avoid burning muscle tissue needed for energy. The average daily calorie intake needed for men is approximately 2,500 and women need about 500 less a day. However, do note that this number varies according to individuals, as you need to factor in your height, weight, age and activity level. There are many websites on the Internet dedicated to weight loss that can help you tabulate the right amount of daily calories your body needs.

2. Don't skip breakfast. Start your day right with a healthy, generous breakfast to kick start your metabolism. Skipping breakfast will only lower your metabolism and your body's natural defences take over, storing fat instead to save it as fuel for later. Therefore, opt for a hearty breakfast.

A study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology noted that participants who took in 22 to 55 per cent of their total calorie intake during breakfast gained only 1.7 pounds on average, over four years. In comparison, those who ate zero to 11 per cent of their total calories in the morning, gained nearly three pounds.

 3. Opt for food with a low glycemic index to help control your appetite, Translated to ordinary parlance, it simply means fill up on high fibre or protein-rich food. These give off a steadier supply of energy compared to food with a higher glycemic index, such as sweets and processed food. The latter yummies give you a sudden rush of energy but subsequently cause you to feel lethargic. Fibre can also help burn more fat, almost 30 per cent more in fact. Studies prove that women who load up on fibre gain less weight over time. While, protein-rich food helps improve your lean muscle mass and the more lean muscle you have, the higher your basal metabolic rate (BMR). Plump for low-fat, protein food such as lean meat and skinless chicken, as research indicates around 25 per cent of calories in a protein-rich diet can be burnt off.

4. Don't forget your cuppa. Your daily dose of coffee can rev up your metabolic rate by five to eight per cent a day. Caffeine stimulates your central nervous system by increasing your heart rate and breathing. Green tea too is a good pick-me-up and some say, a healthier choice. A cup of green tea can raise metabolism by 12 per cent as it has thermogenic properties (that help burn calories as food is digested and absorbed). It also has a higher content of catechin (versus other types of teas) to speed up the brain and nervous system.

5. Amp up your water intake. A study in Germany found that participants who drank about half a litre of water witnessed a 30% increase in their metabolic rate. Water is also a natural appetite suppressant, so drinking enough water helps you from mistaking thirst for hunger, In fact, a healthy way to start the day is by drinking a big glass of water, preferably cold, for a report in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism stated that slightly more energy is needed to heat the body this way, helping you burn off more from the word go.

 6. Spice it up. Add chillies to your food as it will stimulate your taste buds and make meals more satisfying, so you won't feel the need to eat -more. However, do be cognisant about calories. There are also certain spices that increase metabolic rate by raising your body temperature. Garlic, turmeric and black pepper are great condiments.

7. Stay stress-free. Easier said than done, as stress is a given these days, But exercising IS a great stress reliever-so run off your worries in that morning jog, When you're stressed out, the body releases a hormone known as cortisol that increases your appetite and stimulates the release of insulin, Increased insulin means decreased metabolism.

8. Get enough sleep. A good night's rest is essential for your body and helps you perform better the next day as it brings down your cortisol levels and boosts your energy. Research proves that people who don't get seven to eight hours of daily sleep, are more prone to weight gain. Besides, lean muscle regenerates in the final couple of hours of sleep.

 9. Start fidgeting. Yes, you read it right. Fidgeting can trick your body into thinking it has excess energy to work off, hence boosting your metabolism. Fidgeting and incidental movements throughout the day are called non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT). So the less you move, the more your body thinks it needs to conserve energy, thus slowing down metabolism.

To love somebody - just a song

To love somebody is it purely possesion ?  Catch hold of the love and put it in a bottle ? Can we hold it there?  Of course , no.  How can feelings be contained?  So , to love a person is to stay far enough for him or her to breath and to growth. Love is not like a creeper growing around a tree but rather like the Sun providing the light for the tree to growth. How far is the Sun from the tree ? If the Sun is too near the tree, it will get dry and burned.  Loving a person is holding until it choke but staying near to it and provide encourage and the support.

My daughter is near completing her three months training in Langkawi and she is coming back now.  During these three months, I have only seen her once but I text her almost very day and called her regularly.  I have not seen her since and she told me that she has gained a few more pounds.  I text her to tell her that she can become Ms Santa if she keeps growing. I really missed her and she keeps telling me that she missed me. I have believe that , right ? Hope and love will keep us alive.

I asked her about her future plan and she told me that she has some idea of pursuing her degree in KL and  I asked her what course she intends to pursue and she was blank in her answer.  I offered to get her into a degree course in Australia or US but she said that I am wasting my time.  I know that I cannot force her and I have let her choose her own course. Whatever course she choose, it does not matter as long as she keeps on learning and acquiring a skill.  BTW, she is pursuing culinary arts in a local college.

On Sunday, I saw a show on China's culinary skill and how the Chinese Chef use their knife to prepare their food.  By the use of chop, slide and cut , the master chefs can prepare fine culinary food.  I saw a Chef cutting bean cubes and they can slides it as fine as the hair width and they cook the soup with it. The movement of the knife and the hands needs the focus of the mind and the body and it was no ordinary task. I hope my daughter would be able to master such skills but maybe, she will not be interested at all.

Loving a person is not be what we want them to be but rather be what they want to be. This is very important as each person is different their outlook in life and have their own passion and talent in their own way. We should hope their grow and grow in their own way and be happy.

Today, as I see it.....25/3

The GE13 have been extended and now, Negri Sembilan Assembly is going to be dissolved on the 26th March 13 and the state government will become a caretaker government but for how long? This will be followed by Selangor and roll to other states, so all the states become caretaker government until the election is called.

There is a saying that the government have overstayed and is more than 5 years , just like Mahatir. He overstayed for 22 years and caused so much damages to the nation including racial unity. Now, the M is coming out to be active again.  Why?  Just graceful retire lah  instead of causing havoc by overstaying.

Yeah, I have seen alot of people overstaying including one Dato I knew.  He keeps telling people he is still relevant and up-to-date but harp on an Act which was implemented one year ago. How embarassing can it be ? The fox have let out his tail.

Coming back to the M, what is he trying to do ? He has pass his prime and time. Is he afraid of lossing in the GE 13 when his adversaries will come after him to count his sins or sent him to Siberia or Timbaktu. All these evil jackass have their own agenda.

Now SL Chua , that MCA Chief is also start talking nonsense and giving his unwelcome opinion and suggestions. He is always threatening the Chinese and put fear into them to elect BN. The more he talk , the worst it becomes as he let out his foxy tail.

Another crown, Hisham who keep stirring all the half truth or lies and brain wash the mind of the youth and stir up their emotions to the point killing. Is he a home minster or a hooligan? I think he is a bloody stupid idiot , a good for nothing fella. Every words comes out from his mouth is lies and nonsense.  Why can't he talk properly. OMG

Then comes to our PM Najib.  What is he doing ,going around throwing money and incentives to boost up his chance of getting elected.  Hey, friend, this is our tax money and please be careful.  What if I start throwing your fortune away like what you did for the election goodies.

Where are the other people or ministers? Suddenly , they are so quiet . Plotting in the dark , fellas? It is absolutley nonsense trying to confuse the Rakyat  and making the world "full of crazy GODS".  Be honorable and fade away if you lost and don't create anymore troubles.

I must say do the honourable thing , if you still have the honor .  Let the winners win and take over.

Now or never - my thoughts

In the vening , I saw an advertisement in the TV who showed an old photographer going around in the wild to take photographs and at the end of his advertisement , he urged all the people to enjoy the things they do as life is very short.

I relate this statement to the show I watched yesterday "The last tycoon".  the show is about the last mayor and tycoon in Shanghai.  0In one part of the story, the chief police officer of Shanghai was flirting around with a social lady and this leads to his wife of many years to divorce him and this last tycoon played by Chow Yuen Fatt when to see the chief police officer and asked him why he let his wife to divorce him over this social lady. The police chief told his friend, the tycoon " I know it was not right to let his wife divorce him but in his line of work, it is very risky and can be very short  as he was already old at 60 and he asked his friend to allow him to enjoy his life for his last few years.  He was right he became mad after the few months due to the Japanese invasion.

I have re-cap of many news and memories where the old people spend their fortunes in wine, women and song during their twilight years. After so many years of working hard for their money , they think they deserve the right to spend away their fortunes instead of leaving much for their children or better halves. This is a personal choice and if they are happy, why not ?  Life is a journey of no return.  After we die, everything is nothing.  We just vanished and leave everything behind. All the blood, sweat and tears and if you think hard, who are we judge them.  We have not walk through their life  or knowwhat they have experienced  and how can we be judges on their acts.  Right or wrong , does it matter if this is their choice?

This matter is very hard to understand if we have the view that we can live forever but the fact is that everyone have to die and if we look at this view with the awareness that nothing is forever , then we maybe awaken to this fact that it is now or never.

Cheng Ming - Chinese All Souls Day 2013

The actual all souls' day falls on the 4th April 2013 but the tradition allows us one week before and after the actual day for t he families to pray for their dead ancestors to show their filial pity. My parents were dead for more than 18 years and my family still gathers every year to  show our respect to our parent. This expression of our inner feeling or suppressed feeling whatsoeer could have help us to release our stress in our daily lives and have a peaceful and calming impact on us.\

My sister, H went to market early in this morning to buy all the  ingredients and cook the meals which was the favorite food of our parent as far as we can remember and at 8.30 am, we went to  the prayer hall haboring the urns of our parent.  There was alot of people there by then and we managed to gather a table to place all the food stuff  including arranging the flowers and lighting up all the candles and joss sticks and we took turns to pray to my parent. It was over in 30 minutes and we gathered the food and the paper money and offerings and bring it to a place allocated by the prayer hall for burning. The food wsa re-packed and we took it back for re-possessing and eating afterwards  for the day's lunch and dinner.

I have written the same article last year and this time, I took the chance to express my thoughts and feelings about this occasion. This year , my younger sister did not came back to pray as she was busy in KL and this occasion brings back many memories as I stand to pray and wait for the process to complete. The love of my parent and I also took turn to pray to my elder brother who have been dead for more than 10 years and also to my uncle and aunties whose urns are also placed in the same prayer hall. Today, my wife also pray to her dead auntie and her primary school headmistress as their urns were located in the same place.

As I say in my last years article, I do not know whether my dead parent could receive the food and the paper money which we offere them.  But, it feels good that this is a process to recognize them as the source of our life and upbringing. Without them, we will not be here and we should be  grateful for them for all their love and sacrifice. It is an honourable thing to do even in the eyes of many people , this is a meaningless process. We are the script writer of our live and we should not let others  highjack our show.

In this world of advance science and technology , many of the old tradition and process will seem nonsensical but as t he saying goes " as science and technology advances, we could be leaving behind a generation of idiot" who become connected through electronic means and without which they will perished.

High blood pressure - survey

Globally, 51% of stroke (cerebrovascular disease) and 45% of ischemic heart disease deaths are caused by high systolic blood pressure. Teenage boys with normal blood pressure values are 3-4 times more likely to develop high blood pressure in early adulthood than girls. Overweight boys with systolic blood pressure of 110 mmHg and above have an increased risk of hypertension, at about 1% per year. Young adults who lead sedentary lifestyles - with both low aerobic fitness and low physical activity levels - are at risk of developing high blood pressure in 20 years.

The American Heart Association recommends these 10 simple ways to  keep your blood pressure in control:

1. Know your blood pressure.
2. Know what your weight should be.
3. Don't consume too much salt.
4. Eat lots of fruits, vegetables and whole-grain, high-fibre foods.
5. Limit alcohol intake (one drink a day for women, two a day for men).
6. Take your medicines exactly as prescribed.
7. Keep appointments with your doctor.
8. Follow your doctor's advice about physical activity.
9. Make certain the people you care about understand their risks of developing high blood pressure.
10. Know that every step counts in managing your blood pressure.

Nagging thoughts

There is a saying "when there is an action , there will a re-action ". At times, the re-action is much stronger. Hence, if we have a thought, the more we push it away, the more it comes back to haunt us. The only way to handle such nagging thoughts is to accept its presence , stare at it and do nothing about it.

It is easy to say that we could meditate on it but it is actually very uncomfortable as the thoughts continued to stay to close to us like a housefly buzzing in our ears. It will also depends on our self discipline and our mood swing.

If we are at our peak, we can easily control our thoughts or have more discipline to be consciously aware to keep the thoughts at bay.  But, if we are at our weakest point, the thoughts will overtake us and control our body and mind and could surpress us deeply and make us feeling crazy.

If the thoughts are related to the heart, it will be even more difficult to control as the mind affects the heart and the heart affects the mind.  Such linkage is very strong and the thought could absolutely in control our heart and mind and make our thoughts more stronger and defiant.

In order to control the heart and mind, we must isolate the heart and calm the mind . To handle these two elements together it will be a futile effort.  If these involved two person, we have to separate them and let the mind forget the heart or reduce the influence of the heart on the mind.

However, we must realize that the longer or harder the mind reject the heart , the more confused will be the mind. Let the mind accept the presence of the heart but not infront of the heart and take the mind away from the heart.   Change the focus in the mind and re-direct the attention of the mind to something more positive.  The trouble of the heart and mind is like a gloomy room where the feelings and energy sway and swing wide so the mind must focus or move in the direction of the light  and see thoroughly or carefully what is the need of the heart.

It is never easy to separate the heart from the mind as are attracting poles and if we cannot control the fume that the heart and the mind will breakfree and gather strength to be stronger , bigger and larger.

The world biggest jade Buddha in Penang (April 13)

THE Malaysian Buddhist fraternity will have a golden opportunity to view the world’s largest Jade Buddha statue in Penang in April.

The statue — Jade Buddha for Universal Peace — which weighs four tonnes and stands at 2.7m will be displayed at Penang Times Square in Jalan Datuk Keramat for 10 days starting April 6.

The event is organised by Chokyi Gyaltsen Centre (CGC).

CGC president Dr Daniel Yeoh said the event was aimed at inspiring the visitors on the importance of peace in their mind and heart.

“We expect to draw a 100,000-strong crowd throughout the days,” said Dr Yeoh in a press conference at CGC in Air Itam, Penang, on Tuesday.

Among the programmes are chanting sessions, relic blessings, Tibetan sand mandala exhibition and Pindapata alms round.

Rare gem: The world's largest Jade Buddha statue will be displayed at Penang Times Square for 10 days starting April 6
Dr Yeoh said the Jade Buddha statue came from an 18-tonne gemstone which was discovered in Canada in 2003 by Australian Ian Green who raised funds to buy it at US$1.5mil (RM4.56mil).

Green, who was present at the press conference, said the gemstone was shipped to Thailand where six renowned jade carvers created the statue modelled after a famous Buddha image at the Mohabodhi Stupa in the holy city of Bodh Gaya, India.

“The carving and polishing of the statue was completed in 2008 and since then, the Jade Buddha has been on a world tour to 14 countries including Vietnam, Singapore, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Australia, the United States, Canada, Germany and Norway.

“The statue will be on display in Kuala Lumpur in March before arriving in Penang,” said Green.

He said the world tour would continue for the next three years before coming to a rest at a permanent home at The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Australia.

Admission to the event in Penang is free. For more information, call CGC at 04-4285528 or visit www.fpmt.org and www.jadebuddha.org.au.

Just another weekend..

Nothing difference.. the week have passed with a hectic schedule and from an overseas trip. It is just work, work and work and trying to get enough rest to build up my energy again.  Life was so plain and uneventful as the days drags by into weeks and months and years.

If I look at life at a negative angle, it was boring and flat.Just like a plate of rice without salt, sugar or spice.  But, if I look at the things that I have contributed and done minute by minute then there was quiet an achievement.

As a contribution to my employer and the world, I have walk a little further to realized another project which provides employment and a steady livelihood to 6,000 people or more in a poor country like Bangladesh and these 6000 people can in turn feed a multiple of 5 times of the number of people and have a snowballing effect on the livelihood of people associated with the 6000 people.  This is the principle of multification or evolution.

I considered myself a builder and I contribute to the betterment of the society while there are people who are destroyer and they have have a role to pull me back or destroy what I have build. That is the optimistic view of my role and I want to make myself believe that I am useful and I can continue to useful to build the world a better place.  With this thinking, my past week is not lost and it is actually spend with a purpose.

I have told my staff,Ag that when we look at an object, we can see that this object will change in shape , size  and color if we move our angle to look at the object. Things are different when we see the object in different lights, angle and with a different color background.

If we are unhappy, than it is our choice to make ourself happy and this is up to us to change our choice of the feeling.  But, we have to be aware that to remained unhappy does not solved the problem and it makes it even worst. However, if we exercise our happy choice at less, the situation in better instead of dragging us into a more severe recession.

Just like this coming weekend, you can make the difference and decide how to spend it. If we choose to do nothing and that makes us happy, then by all means we should do it instead of bored ourselves out.

Growing old - insight

Subject: GROWING OLD.....

Growing old is Awesome when you look at it like this!!!

Some  very true words to ponder鈥.I hope you  enjoy.
As  I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and  less critical of myself. I've become my own  friend.

I have seen too many dear friends  leave this world, too soon; before they  understood the great freedom that comes with  aging.
Whose business is it, if I choose  to read, or play, on the computer, until 4 AM,  or sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to  those wonderful tunes of the 50, 60 &70's,  and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a  lost love, I will.

I will walk the beach,  in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging  body, and will dive into the waves, with  abandon, if I choose to, despite the pitying  glances from the jet set.
They, too, will get  old.

I know I am sometimes forgetful. But  there again, some of life is just as well  forgotten. And, I eventually remember the  important things.

Sure, over the years,  my heart has been broken. How can your heart not  break, when you lose a loved one, or when a  child suffers, or even when some body's beloved  pet gets hit by a car? But, broken hearts are  what give us strength, and understanding, and  compassion. A heart never broken, is pristine,  and sterile, and will never know the joy of  being imperfect.

I am so blessed to have  lived long enough to have my hair turning gray,  and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched  into deep grooves on my face. So many have never  laughed, and so many have died before their hair  could turn silver.
As you get older, it  is easier to be positive. You care less about  what other people think. I don't question myself  anymore. I've even earned the right to be  wrong.

So, to answer your question, I  like being old. It has set me free. I like the  person I have become. I am not going to live  forever, but while I am still here, I will not  waste time lamenting what could have been, or  worrying about what will be. And I shall eat  dessert every single day (if I feel like  it).

MAY OUR  FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART, ESPECIALLY WHEN  IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE  HEART

Tiredness - my experience.

Just came back from a six days overseas trip ie 2 days in Singapore and 4 days in Bangladesh.  The time difference is zero hours for Singapore and 2 hours behind for Bangladesh.  However, I feel that travelling  for business and travelling for leisure is totally different.  For business, we are under stress and full load of assignments while for leisure, we are free as a bird and light as a feather.  This is a vast difference.

During travel, I notice that we have to rest deeply when we are sleeping and we should drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fruits to ensure that we have a peaceful time in the toilet. If we do not watch over our diet, we could end up high and dry while our waste will be totally blocked.

Recently, I find that a glass of beer could do wonders when we are travelling under intense heat and this drink could cool down our body and make our body well and in balance.  A cold drink after under  under the heat has a very relieving feeling and wonderful feeling.

Yes, I am  feeling very tired due to the lack of sleep as foreign bed always keeps me awake and I am trying to get back the balance in my life , balancing between the Yin and the Yang.   It is a very complicated act but I have to do it for the sake of my well being.

Early sleep,  proper diet, lots of water and fruits  will do marvellous to my tired body.

Namaste.

ED-Man's Most Dreaded Problem (extracts)

If you think you could be having a problem, don't hesitate to get professional help. WHAT IS IT? Erections start in the brain. Yes, the brain! When sights, sounds, smells. Sensations or thoughts make a man sexually aroused, his central nervous system signals the arteries in his penis to relax. Blood flow to his penis then increases 16 times the normal rate, while the veins that carry blood away from the penis are blocked - hence, an erection. The extra blood stays in the penis as long as the man remains aroused or until he ejaculates. Sometimes, however, there's a breakdown in the process. If the brain doesn't send the right signals, if the nerves that pass the signals from the brain to the penis are damaged, or if the arteries can't respond to those signals, a man will be unable to have an erection. Contrary to popular belief, erectile dysfunction (ED) sometimes called impotence - is not inevitable with age (although it is more common in older men).   POSSIBLE CAUSES OF ED Many things can interfere with one or more of the steps necessary to achieve an erection, but medically speaking, it usually boils down to a problem of blood flow. If you suffer from ED, one of the following factors is probably to blame: 1. Cardiovascular disease: High blood pressure, atherosclerosis (narrowing or hardening of the arteries), and other disorders of the heart and blood vessels can hamper the flow of blood to the penis. 2. Medications: Many commonly used drugs can short-circuit the process that lead to erections by interrupting nerve impulses or blood flow to the penis. Some examples: antihistamines, antidepressants, tranquilisers, appetite suppressants, and blood pressure medications like beta-blockers and diuretics. If you develop erection difficulties while taking antidepressants or blood pressure medicines, remember the reasons you're taking them. Stopping them isn't necessarily the answer. Always get your doctor's advice before you stop taking any prescription medicine. 3. Diabetes: Because this disease can damage nerves that control blood flow and blood vessels themselves, blood flow to the penis can be impaired. 4. Prostate surgery: Not long ago, almost all men had problems achieving erections after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer. Such problems are still a common side effect of prostate surgery, as well as radiation treatment for prostate or colorectal cancer. But new surgical techniques can often spare the nerves to the penis, so sexual function need not be a problem for these patients. 5. Smoking: Cigarette smoking constricts and damages blood vessels, reducing blood flow to the penis. Research suggests that men who smoke and have other health problems, such as heart disease, are more likely to have trouble with erections. 6. Psychological factors: It's no secret that relationship problems have a direct effect on a couple’s sex life. Feeling or resentment or hostility harbored by either partner can derail intimacy. Stress, anxiety, guilt feeling, depression, and low self-esteem can all trigger or compound ED. 7. Other factors: Alcoholism, pelvic injuries (such as fractures), damage to the nerves that control blood flow to the penis, multiple sclerosis and below normal levels of testosterone can all lead to ED.

Various types of cough - extracts

We all know that coughs are irritating and don't go away as easily as they come. A colleague returned to work after three days of being away because of a nasty cough. And although his workload ended up on my shoulders, by the end of the day, all I wanted was for him to go back where he temporarily belonged-at home. Not only was he passing the bug to everyone within germ-spreading radius, the constant coughing was driving me up the wall. WHAT ARE THE VARIOUS TYPES OF COUGH? The main type: • Productive cough: Also called an 'effective cough' as it expels mucous from the lungs. This type of cough is mostly acute in nature and is often caused by a bacterial, viral or fungal infection. It should not be suppressed, otherwise recurrent or constant infection will remain since the purpose of the cough (to remove mucus) is suppressed. • Non-productive cough: Also called an ' ineffective cough' as it does not bring any secretions or mucous out of the lungs. It is a dry, irritating cough without phlegm. This type of cough is mostly chronic in nature and caused by dry irritation, dust, smoke or fumes, or due to oedema and mild secretion in the resolving stage of illness. It may be also due to weakness of the muscles of respiration, thick viscid mucus or diseases of the cilia, which helps mucous transportation in the airway. Other classifications of a cough: 1. Acute - not more than three weeks' duration. For example, infective coughs. 2. Chronic- more than three weeks' duration. For example, smoker's cough. 3. Dry cough- no mucous or secretions. 4. Wet cough - with mucous or secretions. 5. Cough from chest or from throat - productive or non-productive• Bovine cough - soundless cough due to paralysis of larynx. 6. Psychogenic cough - self-conscious activity of the patient to draw attention. Preventing A COUGH IS POSSIBLE Smoking and dust exposure. Working in areas with noxious fumes or polluted air. Cold food or drinks. Contact with infected persons. Continuous usage of nasal decongestant and cough syrups. Do Rest in a room with good ventilation. Drink plenty of fluids & water, expulsion. Eat light and small meals to reduce vomiting with oesophageal. Inhale steam to loosen phlegm. Take vitamin C and zinc to shorten the duration of cold or disease. Do you know: A cough is an explosive expulsion of air from the lungs, and can reach speeds of more than 100km per hour.

Benefits of yoga for stress - what's the reality?

Can yoga really help people to overcome stress?

That's the question being posed by new research at the University of Adelaide, which is hoping to better understand if, and how, yoga can be used as a therapy for stress - and who can benefit most from it.

The study is being conducted by Psychology PhD student Kaitlin Harkess who has been a yoga instructor for the past seven years.

"Anecdotally there's a lot of evidence to suggest that yoga can have benefits for people experiencing stress; I've seen that from my yoga students over the years. But it's one thing just to accept this as fact, it's quite another to put it to the test scientifically, which is what we're doing with this new study," Ms Harkess says.

"Yoga is growing in popularity in Western countries, but so are stress levels in our everyday lives.

"Severe forms of stress can be extremely debilitating for people - they can suffer physical as well as psychological and emotional impacts from stress. Anxiety, burn-out, depression, these are all of interest from a clinical psychology point of view. But stress can also result in real problems with people's immune systems and cardiovascular health, for example.

"Yoga involves controlled movement of the body, breathing and relaxation techniques, and these might be broadly applicable to helping people overcome stress in their lives," she says.

South Australian women aged 35-65 are needed for the study. They must be new to yoga. By participating, women will learn a basic form of yoga and attend a free yoga class twice a week for two months.

Ms Harkess says women who participate in the study will fill out a standard psychology questionnaire to help determine their level of stress. Those taking part in the study can give blood so that biochemical markers for stress can be tracked.

"There have been small studies in the past suggesting that yoga is beneficial in overcoming stress, but we're looking for 90 women to participate, which will be the biggest study of its kind so far.

Singapore River View Hotel = my experience

I was on a business trip to Singapore and I stayed two nights at this Hotel ie River View Hotel and there was a river running by the side of this hotel.  It was a muddy river but the setting and landscaping was excellent with a bridge running across the river.

Last night, I went for a stroll after a heavy Japanese dinner  and there was  a light breeze blowing making my walk very relaxing. There was roads running along the bank of the river and along the roads , there were a lot of eateries and pubs serving different types of food.  Italian, fusion, Japanese and the tables were lay out in the open like the cafes in Europe where people sit for drinks and food.

As I walk along, there were people bring their dogs for a stroll or some people were walking and some running for exercise. Step by steps , we could feel the peace in our steps.  People call this walking mantra as we are aware of the movements in our sores.

After finished the stroll, I just choose a seat by the river in my hotel and just enjoy the nature as well as the concrete jungles of private condominiums and apartments.,  There were several hotels like King Copthrone Hotel and the Grand Copthrone Hotel situated in the vicinity of River View Hotel.

If the water in the river is crystal clear, it would be excellent but even it is muddy, it was very well restored to its former glory. For such picturious scenary,  it is often occupied by westerners. Why?  The Asians are boring people ?  or  too busy in making money ? Hey , fellas wake up to the beauty of nature and enjoy its flow.

Namaste.

Why do we need to do it twice or more ?

Life is a routine, it is a repetition.  Running round in circles  in a zombie state. Don't know where we are going to ?  In the end, we still do not know our purpose in life. Wasted days and wasted nights and only love keep us a  live .

Do you have this feelings? If you have, just snapped out of it and make changes.  Try to  change the way of  your routirne.  Sleep, wake up, eat , work eat and sleep.  We have to go through this way every day and not realizing it . It became such a routine that we can do it with our eyes close and after that, we don't even realized that we have done the routine already.

To change the routine, we have to put abit of awareness in it. We must sleep deep , we have to brush our teeth with consciousness and feeling . Feel the tooth brush scrubbing away the tar in your teetch, eat slowly and enjoy every bite and carry out our job with awareness and with challenge.

Every action or motion tick with time and it moves by itself and stops for no one. So, we have to ask ourself , if tie to me is so precious, why do we have to do the same motions more than once ? Can we use this limited time to do a different job each time or different ways each time?

If we taka away the repetitous and routine actions like sleeping ,eating, working , traveling , watching TV, the balance of time is only so little for us to do a different thing. Do we really live to 80 ?  If we wake up and be aware , then it is only about 20 years of real living. So, we should try to stretch and do different things and reduce the time which is reserved for the routine duties.

We have to slow down and think and discuss with our love ones to wake up the state of complacency and state of non-thinking. We live like a zombie, eat like a zombie and end our life like a zombie. It is time to break through and wake up and change so that our years of real living is longer .

We take things for granted and let our life run on a auto-pilot.  It is time to exercise your choice and takes over the pilot seat before our lives runs out.

Namaste.

GE13 - a disgrace.

From the news, there are so many lies and wrongful accusation and we do not know what is right and what is wrong.  Even, militants from the Sulu state came in to add more confusion and trouble to the already messy GE13.

We suspect the truth in the news print as there are been so many proven lies while in the internet, there are more news that we do not know whether is true or not. We are bombard with lies and half truth and based on these news, we make our choice

Even , the opposition do not trust the EC or election commission and the EC is not acting on the recommendations from the NGOs or Bersih. There is a already thee demonstrations but still the EC is moving like tortise.  At this election time, they should be running like Cheetahs to ratify things.

Many times, Anwar is accused of been a homosexual or bi-sexual , isn't sickening. The news get spin around and around and it makes us feel sick with shit in our mouth. Why this shitty things have to be used over and over again. Enough is enough , stop the bloody spinning.

Another issue is the bloody Senior Chua and his youngster , Yong . Both of them already lack creditability and yet they come out to voice their comments on events.  Everytime, the Senior Chua is using frightening tactics or fear to want the Chinese about huduh which he know nothing about or the stock market will collapse or the Chinese will lose out  or the sky will fall on our head  while anYong will comment or accuse this is wrong or that is wrong but he is never wrong.  Sickening twins.

Then, here comes our DPM who say that he is Malay first and Malaysian second and yet he is trying to promote Malaysia bersatu.  He has a fork tongue and he say something and do something elese. Disgraceful.

Our PM Najib . There is some much dirt being said about him  and yet he is going around pretending that he has no shit on his back.  He refused to answer all the allegations , he do not want to debate with Anwar and he is throwing so much money around to pacify the Rakyat.  I do not know whether what is say about him is lie , half truth or no truth , I think he should sue the people who say all these dirts like what Anwar is doing . He is suing all the people who is speaking false about him. This is the nonly way to keep out the half truth and no truth.

For me, after participating and voting in so many elections, it is the dirtest and the most disgrace election where so many under hand and evil tactics are use.  It is like boxing under the belt or pullin of the underwear in the polo game or biting in a ruby game. Silly and hurtful tactics.

Lets the fair game begin .  Give a fair fight  and finally , respect the winner with an open arm because you have lost fairly.  Give the world , a chance to change.

Namaste.

What are your deepest secret?

When we talk about secrets, it should remained secret , otherwise , it is no more secret. In life, we have so many secrets which we kept in our heart or the deepest point in our heart.  There are some harmless secrets, some hurtful ones, some harmful ones , some empharasing ones and some selfish ones. Everyone of us have secrets.

Every one of us have a different sets of criteria which we classify secrets or some reason, we cannot say it out and it becomes a secret for fear of harming innocent or not so innocent people.  Some of us have very bad experience with people or an incident  that we are shameful to reveal and it becomes an involuntary secret.

I have my secrets. Some are business secrets and the rest are personal secrets.  I have done a lot of mistakes and make alot of wrong decisions which I think nobody will want to listen or it cannot be reveal because of its confidential nature. Whatever, the secrets are bondages in our life, it weight us down.

There is a saying " dreams have no boundaries", it stretches to unlimited distance. Sometime, our dreams became our secret because of the taboos by society or it is anti-establishment.  It cannot be say or expressed because it is not allowed by society and the establishment.

Frequently, the secrets start to torment us , irritate us and haunt us in our dreams and thoughts . At times, we start to reveal a little of our secrets to the people we trust to find relief to this tortures in our thoughts. After revealing our secrets, we feel lighter as we feel something have been released from our body but sometimes, after releasing, we become fearful that these so called secrets which is no more secrets could hurt us instead. We become fearful.

Nevertheless, there are secrets which become an open secret and some secrets will follow us to our grave. For better or worst, secrets have to remain a secret if it is hurtful, harmful or caused distress to the world, to the people and our loved ones. Why need to say it , it is hurts and brings no more benefits ? Let sleeping dogs lie. .......

Namaste.

What your hand phones can do for you - extracts

5 THINGS YOU PROBABLY NEVER KNEW YOUR MOBILE PHONE COULD DO..
There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. . Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things that you can do with it:

??FIRST: Emergency
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112.
If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency,
dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked. Try it out...

??SECOND: Have you locked your keys in the car?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday.
Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from your cell phone.
Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock.

Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you.
Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other ' remote ' for your car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk)...

Editor ' s Note: It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a mobile phone! '

??THIRD: Hidden Battery Power
Imagine your mobile battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370#
Your mobile will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery.
This reserve will get charged when you charge your mobile next time。

??FOURTH: How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone ' s serial number, key in the following digits on your phone: * # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset..
Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone get stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won ' t get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can ' t use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

??FIFTH : ATM - PIN Number Reversal - Good to Know
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can
notify the police by entering your PIN # in reverse. For example, if your pin number is 1234,
then you would put in 4321.

The ATM system recognizes that your PIN number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to the location.

This information was recently broadcast on CTV by Crime Stoppers however it is seldom used because people just don ' t know about it...... Please pass this along to everyone.

Old and New flower - analogy

When we go out to buy flowers , we will choose the fresh, young and beautiful flowers and we will pack it well and place it in our living room or bed room ,etc.  The beautiful flower will give excellent fragrance and add freshness and beauty to the place.   The more we look at it , the more captivating they become and we are so absorbed into this strange and wonderful world i.e between you and the flower.

After a while, the flower will fade and gets old and smelly.   You will go out and buy another bunch of flower and replace it instantly before the flower really drys up and give a bad smell.  A women's beauty is like that and last only like the beauty of a bunch of flowers.

Our beauty fades very fast but the inner beauty like wine grows with age and the realization of this process is very important. In order to realize the beauty of the old flowers , we should look at the grace of its beauty and the brightness in certain spots.

However, as layman, we are blind to the inner beauty and we are fully influence by its other beauty. Some flowers are very beautiful outside but its smells terribly and some flowers are  pertruding torns  and ichy chemicals which could turn you off after getting it from the shops. When the flower is beautiful,  such bad points are always neglected until we get fed up with its beauty.  Even before it is dried or old, we would have thrown it away.

The best combination is beauty and brain ie outer and inner beauty which makes it the best flower to have but this perfection is never there.  If  it is so perfect , then things could be become more boring and a little imperfections will make beautiful parts more beautiful.

In the chinese sayings,  " a beautiful flower must have the green leaves to support it ".  However, this statement have another meaning from the above but it illustrate even external beauty needs other external dressing to make it more shinning and beautiful.

Ponder on it a little and search your dream partners and enjoy it while it last.
